    Mid 80's? Wow, that's amazing.
Too hot over hear in Laredo, TX.
Over the 100's daily. Hopeful for some rain over the weekend to cool off.

Now is a good time to cut suckers from tomatoes and root them in water or damp soil in a pot! I always plant my cloned fall tomatoes in June/July here in NorCal 10a. 💚

You just had to start that flowers list with amaranthe. A friend gave me one about a month ago and it's still sitting in a pot by the front door, reminding me every time I go out that I need to get that thing planted! Thank you for the encouragement to get it out today!

What zone would you consider the Pine Valley CA. area to be?

@@geedee2420 you can search your zip code and the words: growing zone. Sometimes Google responds but may have to dig to another site.

As a brand new gardner in 10a on the opposite coast, I’m taking your advice and not planting a bunch of veggies now. Yes. It’s crazy hot here.
Working on flowers and getting beds ready by starting companion plants soon.
The fact most of my veggies died in the extreme heat except for the peppers gave me a hint.

In Houston (9a), tomatoes do best planted late summer for late Fall harvest. 😅

Same with my garden - 10b. I never get a good crop from spring plants. 🤷🏻‍♀️. But they keep producing until almost December.

Yes, definitely okra LOVES the heat too. It's not quite as popular with some gardeners so we left it off, but we have it on our full calendar list.

Do i remove or leave the old roots if succession planting using same pot different vegetables? You have inspired me to take on this new hobby!🙏🏻💜

    • @SanDiegoSeedCompany
      @SanDiegoSeedCompany  3 месяца назад

It depends. Some plants can grow back. Others are good to cut at the soil level so the roots decompose. That may not happen very quicky in a pot, though.

What would the zone be considered at the elevation of 4,000ft. Here in San Diego County?

I wish I could mulch that heavily, unfortunately the pests were SO BAD this year in particular earwigs. They live mulch. I've been battling them since April. They definitely have slowed down in procreation, but they did so much damage to my spring starts is not a good year. 😢

You can, but it's best for pathways. Otherwise, just don't use a lot of just that.

That should be fine. Expect to harvest in September, so be sure to protect the peppers from sun scald.
