    I took HPS250H (Introductory Philosophy of Science) in 2012 Fall. Amazing course. To me, Hakob is PERFECTION. Please keep up the good work! I hope there are more teachers like you in the university, not just great researchers......

    I honestly wish all my lectures were in this format. I love ted talks, and for someone with social anxiety not having to go to a giant lecture hall is amazing! Also the Game of Thrones references are awesome :) Great lecture!

    I graduated several years ago, and I'm still recommending these lectures to friends of mine
    Hakob you are easily one of the best teachers at U of T. I hope you're able to continue teaching the Aristotelean Worldview course because I loved it

    Honestly I didn't even know that HPS was an academic discipline until I took a class at the University of Pittsburgh. Really really interesting stuff. I didn't know that there was a completely different way to look at science. Shame I can't take this course because I'm a PITT student. Keep the videos coming!

    Really enjoyed Lecture 1. I'm doing my PhD in Education and this has been really useful in understand the Western thinkers and great history and philosophy questions which could cross over any discipline. I'm particularly interested in why transitions happen. Look forward to watching the rest. Ngā mihi Hakob. Mauri ora.

    Hello Sir!
    Thank you so much :) This is one of those few lectures that lasted for more than 20 minutes and yet, I am still so awake and yes, I do not want it to ever end.
    I am a distant learner, taking up Diploma in Science Teaching at the University of the Philippines Open University.
    I hope that one day, I could attend one of your lectures in person.

    As someone who took the IB diploma program, I realized that many of the concepts that will be explored is actually very similar to Theory of Knowledge (TOK) in IB! This course certainly looks very interesting, and I really enjoyed the lecture!

      Completely agree. Of course, it won't happen overnight, but we are working on it. At least some lectures should have their subtitles ready by the end of this semester.

    Does this course evaluate arguments for and against Scientific Realism?

    • @hakobbarseghyan9533
      @hakobbarseghyan9533  9 лет назад +4

      Zerub Roberts Hi Zerub. Yes, the problem of scientific realism is discussed in lecture 5. In particular, we will discuss the "pessimistic induction" argument and "no miracles" argument. Hope this helps.

      Zerub Roberts Yes, we will be uploading the videos weekly starting September. We have most of them ready, but there are still a few final polishing touches to be made.

    Might be something cultural but isn't it a little rude the way they were criticizing his example? I mean common it's just an analogy it's not made to be a perfectly example of how relativity works.
