fun fact! the reason why Diego's return comes so out of nowhere in the first movie is because originally he WAS supposed to die and stay dead! however, they found test audiences didn't like that, I think it genuinely upset some kids to the point where they felt it was too sad, so added in that bit at the end where he's okay.
As a kid I was so proud that I knew he didn't actually die because the trailer played his "Nine lives baby!" line at the point of his "death" I was like "but the line, we haven't seen it yet!"
I'm glad they didn't let Diego die. The story wouldn't work without him, he brings some sense of reason and calmness into this messy group, with Sid the clumsy kinda dumb sloth and Manny the grumpy stubborn mammoth. Diego balances this chaotic group out, the sequels wouldn't work without him. Although they clearly didn't know what to do with his arc in the second and third movie.
I don’t know what’s more scary, the implications of Fall Out Boy existing prehistorically, or the fact that ice age animals somehow independently crafted musical instruments and wrote a song that’s coincidentally the exact melody and lyrics as a Fall Out Boy song
Scrat is fun because he wasn't based on any particular animal, just the "ancient animal with saber teeth" design convention, but scientists eventually found an extinct shrew-thing with saber teeth, Cronopio. Lived back during dinosaur times tho, but even actual dinosaurs aside it wouldn't be the only mesozoic animal in ice age, somehow
The thing that bothers me the most about the focus on Manny's own family and forgetting about Sid, is that Manny was about to k*ll himself when he met Sid. Manny was on the edge of a cliff and he had his eyes closed and then Sid came running trying to escape the rinos and crashed with his leg Manny saved Sid from the Rinos and then he got away from the cliff and then the movie goes on. I believe he still wanted to do it until Sid conviced him to get the baby back with the humans because he was still trying to get away from Sid
Also it just hit me that he was near a cliff edge because the human hunters dropped rocks off a cliff to k*ll his wife and child so he wanted to go out in a similar fashion oh my god
The original Ice Age was also a movie I grew up watching on repeat and even as I little kid I never really was interested in any of the sequels. I don't think I could ever get past the fact that the first movie introduces the fact that humans exist in this world and have a big impact on the way the prehistoric animal characters live and then they are seemingly never seen or mentioned again? Even though they were a central part of the original plot? Seven year old me just couldn't get past this weird world-building choice.
It's really weird how different the other Ice Age films are from the first. Not even the oddly forgotten aspects like the existence of humans or Manny being a widower, but even the tone is drastically different. The first movie comparatively feels far more grounded and doesn't feel the need to constantly undercut dramatic moments with constant jokes
I will say, the second one isn’t completely awful. I grew up with that one, and I was not aware there was another one before it cause I was a dumb child.
I would like to point out that your suggestion of splitting the main 3 off on their main quest while everyone else stays together in their own subplot is exactly what the 4th movie did.
Yeah like I’m not saying the 4th movie is good or worth watching but it’s at least kind of entertaining. The animal pirates are cool and fun, even if they feel totally out of place in the world
The worst part about Ice Age 5 is that they added Shira in Ice Age 4 then gave her and Diego 5 minutes of screen time. They were the only reason I even watched the movie to be honest.
It’s true that she was wasted. Shira went through an arc similar to Diego in the 1st film while the 4th film slowly built up their relationship. I recall really liking her in the 4th film… only for her to be barely in the film. At least Diego had more films prior to Collision Course. The worst part of Collision Course to me wasn’t that Shira was wasted. It wasn’t Julian coming in out of nowhere when he should have been introduced in the 4th film. It wasn’t what was done to Manny’s character. It wasn’t what was done to Buck as a character (actually he was one of the positives to me). It wasn’t the Dino-Birds nor the Shangri Llama. It wasn’t even any of Sid’s relationship nonsense. It was what they did to Gladys, Sid’s grandma. She was so funny and likable in the 4th film, only for the 5th film to make her rarely funny and now unlikable. They took what to me was the funniest character in the 4th film and ruined her in the next one. Ouch.
putting aside the whole "saber-tooth tigers are hunting one specific child" thing... if we accept that that's lore in the story, I actually think it makes perfect sense why they'd take the baby instead of a grown man firstly, it's easier, but - more importantly - it's genuinely evil; THAT is actually something that an evil gang would do, kill someone's baby, because any parent will tell you it's far more painful to lose a child than it is to lose your own life
this is perfection. i think it's even more bewildering when an animated movie is bad like this because a team of animators handcrafted each and every frame of that bad joke. they worked so so tirelessly modeling that weasel and for what? for what?
i hate that you held up julien and my immediate thought was "what about that possum who was friends-to-lovers with peaches?" i hate that i know that much ice age lore my only defense is that i have a little sister EDIT: he was a mole hog named louis from ice age 4 so i guess they took him out because they didnt want to write an inter-species relationship
I just genuinely gasped upon reading this comment, because I really liked Louis. He was probably my favorite part about Ice Age 4 (which I did not like as much as the first 3).
He makes a cameo in the fifth movie, which is somehow worse since nobody acknowledged him and peaches never mentions him. He literally saved her from a pirate and was supposed to be her bestest friend
Just want to say that the reason why the Ice Age franchise died is: Blue Sky, the studio who made it wad owned by Fox. When Fox got bought out by Disney a few years ago, one of the first things they did was scrap the studio, fire all the staff and scrap essentially all the properties they were working on.(Including a sequel to the Peanuts movie, a movie about Egyptian gods & the 90ish% finished Nimona. Luckily a video game studio picked the rights up for Nimona and finished the last bit. Unfortunately, everything else will probably remain dead in the water.) The animators made one final video at the time the studio dissolved of Scrat finally getting the nut. I was never a huge Blue Sky fan and I stopped watching the Ice Age franchise after the 3rd movie, but its always sad to see an animation studio fold.
"we're 40 minutes into the movie and we're back in space 😮💨" this and the "which is good because i didn't think we had enough comic relief characters" gag never got old throughout the entire video
someone really looked at that one charming kids movie about found family and went "now that we've spent a whole movie bringing these characters together into a family unit, what if we made more of these movies but also separated all of the main characters into monogamous heterosexual Christian relationships"
Before I watched the video I thought the Christian part was going to a nonliteral description to get the idea of the classical Americana nuclear family. No, actually they just have Christian weddings I guess. Cool. I'm now so curious about the religious, esoteric, and occult history of the ice age universe. "Christian" weddings assume the evolutionary path of religion is extremely similar to ours, and Carries with it the insane implication of things like Ice Age Gnostics and other early pre-orthodox branches. Which would also imply the greater Greco egyptian milieu. Now who knows how direct the parallels are, but I'm just going to say (because its it's funny to me) there is absolutely an ice age Greek Magical Papyri, complete with _The Steele of Jeu: the hieroglyphicist and his letter_ complete with like, a mammoth version of Akephalos. Praise to Mammoth Moses, Praise to Smilodon Osiris, Praise to Sabertoothed Squirrel Jesus, Sabaoth Iao, etc etc. I also choose to believe there is also a Sabertooth Crowley who modernized it into the Sabertooth Bornless Ritual and when you try to Ice Age Google the original text you only get the sabertooth bornless ritual and it's incredibly annoying Crowley get the fuck away from things I'm interested in challenge or I'll dig you up and find something to do to your bones you wont find arousing. Edit: this also means Ice Age Plato, so like Ice Age Eugenics. Also ice age hermeticism, ice age alchemy, ice age Rome... Edit 2: oh my God there's Weasel Pythagoras in Buck's sherlock mind palace? Does this imply Pythagoras is like a guy Buck invented? Or does Buck Pythagoras Weasel exist as Buck's representation of greek smart dudes because there was an actual Ice Age Pythagoras that Buck (the guy who literally only interacts with dinosaurs and lives underground) read about? Also I was joking about the religious esoterica stuff, but like, Pythagoras is just directly religious esoterica. To the point we don't know if he really existed and the Pythagoreans thought of him as a Daimon, like a nature spirit of math and thought he did all these supernatural things and like this was a crazy mystery cult with complex ideas about the world and I am going insane. Why am I thinking about this so much?
The most upsetting part of this is every time you discuss a series of wild plot elements and then each time "And at this point it's only been 11 minutes"
what happened with Ice Age is the same thing that happened with another prehistoric movie series, The Land Before Time, the first one is an emotionally charged adventure movie with comedy in it, the rest of them are "WaCKy" comedies with a random bad guy each time
i do feel like at least a few of the land before time sequels do still have heart. like i grew up with a dvd that had the stone of cold fire and secret of saurus rock and like.. yeah. i mean stone of cold fire isn't my favorite particularly for the weird message they were sending out with pterano but like, particularly secret of saurus rock and the dynamic between littlefoot and his grandparents is pretty redeemable imo
@@celebrityguest.9530I mean, while the first Land Before Time is a classic, there’s at least four sequels I can immediately think of that were just as good… Land Before Time 2 and 4-6, especially 5 and 6, the former being a great way to make Chomper so much better, the latter being a solid chapter in its own right with an awesome ending. The 7th film was okay, as was the 3rd one. I barely recall 8-10, never saw the last four, and yes, there are 14 Land Before Time films, you can buy all of them as a DVD set for under 20 dollars.
I haven’t fully watched the first Ice Age in at least 5 years and I’ve only just fully realised that Manny wasn’t just sad over his wife and child, he was fully planning on staying behind to freeze to death out of his grief - and him, Sid and Diego essentially saving each other through the power of healthy male friendship
You know. Watching this video made me realise how Manny's defensiveness about Peaches makes sense when you remember that his last family were HUNTED in front of him, and so of *course* he'd be scared of his only daughter not being able to live a safe and happy life. But because they *refused* to acknowledge or even hint at that part of his character in the movie, all his defensive/paranoid behaviours just comes across as either awkward or just straight up uncomfortable.
yeah because for some reason even though the first film really hinges on the fact humans exist, humans are erased from existence in all the sequels. you never see a human ever again you never hear about them, manny doesn’t mention his family that was killed by humans, diego doesn’t mention his family and their relationship to humans, and they literally never mention the baby ever again. it’s so weird
Yeah, following that thought, I feel like there was a way for them to still introduce romantic partners and building these same family units and still remain true to the themes of the first movie. Manny could have met Ellie and experienced some abandonment issues that made him not as receptive to a partnership with her and it could have been about the early stages of recovering and building new relationships after loss. And then when they know they’re going to have Peaches, build on that with “oh no, I’m afraid to have a kid again because *trauma*” and then this one “oh no, it’s happening again, I’m losing my child!” All the while doing similar stuff with Syd and Diego as B and C plots while they continue supporting each other and surviving together- maybe Syd learns not to be so clingy throughout the series as he overcomes his abandonment issues because he’ll always have the herd. Maybe Diego finds he still struggles not to engage in transactional behavior when pursuing a potential partner because they aren’t part of his herd yet and so he realizes that he still has those trust issues for new people. Each movie could have handled different stages of recovering after each characters respective traumas and how they support each other through that, while still being a children’s series and it could have been so good. I’m forever bummed that they forgot the first movie and didn’t just continue with the emotional development of these characters and their stories.
my entire life i thought i was raised on the first ice age movie and literally only now do i realize my whole childhood it was ice age 2 dawn of the dinosaurs. after searching through the family movie collection i have discovered we never even owned the first movie im so bewildered befuddled utterly flabbergasted rn
That's number 3. Because I WAS RAISED ON TWO THINKING IT WAS ONE. Which is the one where their home starts melting and it has a terrifying eel creature and a scene were buzzards try to eat the gang.
I feel like if I put a bunch of animated children’s movie plotlines in a hat and pulled them out at random and voice dictated a 90 minute movie through Siri, it would probably be a lot more coherent and entertaining than Ice Age: Collision Course (2016)
Can you imagine how a good a scene could’ve been of Manny opening up to Julian about like how Peaches isn’t his child and he had a baby when he was about Julian’s age and a wife but they were both killed and he was devestated and how Ellie and the herd helped him but he’s still so protective because of that and how he doesn’t want that to happen to Peaches or Julian

I just had a thought. You think part of the reason that Manny is so willing to sacrifice his life for Diego is because he wasn't able to do that for his wife and child and harbours some intense survivors guilt? Cause I think that. And it makes me sad.

Buck as a character feels like they wanted to make Jack Sparrow, forgot what Jack Sparrow is actually like, simply went with the AestheticTM and then told the audience that they have to like him because he is Jack Sparrow, and everybody likes Jack Sparrow. And talking about the christian wedding: It's not just the wedding. Especially the dynamic between Manny and Julian feels so US American. It put me off so much. Like, they could have mentioned living in where-do-I-know, Minnesota, or going to Ice Age Walmart, and it would have felt less weird than other plotpoints of this movie.

you actually make a really good point about the baby not being scared, pretty sure babies have basically no sense of danger yet due to not developing one properly. there was a spider experiment where a baby was exposed to (I hope) non venomous spiders and none of them were at all scared because the reason people develop fears of spiders is because they notice from parents that they fear them or the people around them fear them and internalise that theres a reason to fear them.
funny thing is, adults are scared of wild animals because we understand the dangers a lot of infants and toddlers just see a fuzzy animal, so that makes perfect sense to me why the baby isn't afraid the mother who gave her baby to wild animals on the other hand....
Ice Age 5 felt like a fever dream like even hearing the plot is all over the place like Ice age from 3 animals forming their own herd to basically saving the world
"diego has a girlfriend. which. not the vibe i got from diego" finally someone has the bravery to say it fun fact i had gender envy over diego as a kid before coming out as trans at age 11. thank you diego for being a piece in my engayening
This is my favorite Ice Age: Collision Course Video!!! I thought of a side plot they could have given Shira to impact the story more and be more relevant to the conclusion of the family dynamic. Have Shira and Peaches have a heart to heart and talk about her experience being abused by Gutt and what it’s like to leave what she’s known her whole life. Both her and Diego left their original herd and maybe that interaction could’ve impacted what Peaches and Julian choose to do after their wedding. Maybe it’ll even give Manny more time to reflect xD Excellent Work!
In a perfect world they would've brought the baby (Roshan) back to reunite with the herd of Manny, Diego, and Sid and bring everything full circle... but they never did and that was MY biggest disappointment re: the sequels...
"What is a mountain, if not a volcano" I had that scene in mind from Wandavision, and it was so close. "What is a mountain, if not a volcano persevering."
The interesting part about the Scrat scenes (besides them being the best part of the film) is that they were apparently made up by the storyboard artists and not the writers.

Okay, so special interest time, there were actually giant land sloths a very long time ago, they’re called the Megalonyx. And sloths used to be HUGE!!! Not human size, like moose size and bigger!!! It’s so cool! Like Sid is a different species, but I’m pretty sure most ground sloths (I think Sid is some sort of ground sloth) around the time of the ice age would have been mammoth sized, so Sid and Manny should be the same size. Also Sid should be walking on four legs, not two.
this was really fun! i would love to see more of these kinds of things from you! as far as suggestions for other series to do so, the despicable me series comes to mind it had a lot more movies than i think anyone realizes.
I just came back to finally finish this video off and it started back with “Buck, seeing the angry llama, is now inspired to use the volcano” and I think that beautifully proves the title of the video
I remember watching this film when I was drunk one night four years ago out of boredom and I had avoided watching it in the cinema when it was being advertised out of fear that I would walk out of it, angry as shit over it. The only thing that had stopped me from doing what I thought I would do when watching it was the ending scene with the wedding, knowing about Manny's story of his first wife and child being killed by Indians. Seeing him get that extra level of closure with knowing he had raised a child was nice to see. And that's one scene and to a certain extent the first twenty minutes, because Manny felt in character. Forget whatever ideas the writers and directors had for the film, if they forget to integrate what makes the characters tick and what makes them who they are in the film, then they have already shot themselves in the feet.
I just realized that Manny’s family died from being lured into a trap where they were crushed by rocks…and then Manny sacrificed himself for Diego by pushing him out of the way of falling rocks…Ice Age 1 isn’t a movie, it’s a FILM.
I quite frankly agree, they should've not made only five ice age movies--in fact I believe your point is so solid that I won't even watch the video because we're on the same page.

The thing about Ice age 5 making it bad, is taking the freaking most common sitcom/romance plots and placing these characters that don't fit those on them.
5 movies seems like a lot but as a horror fan I am used to franchises cross 10 movies and none of them are profitable or known to a general audience so like Ice Age is reasonable to me
It's funny because i remember watching shorts of scratch in the Norman Rockwell museum thinking 'oh, there showing shorts for a film franchise i liked, it's cool that they did that from a franchise that finally ended' and then 3 more films released which was crazy
hey haley long time listener first time caller. loved the video! I think a good series to do this on is Madagascar. Personally I don't think there is a miss out of all three of those movies but I haven't seen them in a while and also I would love to hear your take!
I don't remember the last time I was this enthralled by a video. Normally I check my phone here and there, but I didn't touch it a single time while watching. I think I was vaguely aware of Ice Age sequels, but the only one I know for sure I've seen is the first. Honestly, I was fine with that. Ice Age is a perfectly fine movie, and I neither needed nor wanted to know what happened afterwards.
And arguably, even the first, becos Sid has basically no impact on any plot events, whether it's the human connection to Manny and Diego's backstory - since both are hunted by humans and the majority of their character development is spurred by their growing bond and fondness for baby Roshan whilst Sid has NO connections to humans whatsoever in his backstory - nor does Sid have any plot-relevant impact on Diego's redemption arc, which happens almost solely due to Roshan and Manny's influence on him. Sid is just... there, and whilst he is decent comic relief in IA1, he is such a plot-irrelevant character that the movie might've been stronger if they removed Sid entirely and focussed on the bonds btwn mammoth, sabre-tooth tiger, and baby instead, in my opinion since those three characters form the poignant drama of IA1 whilst Sid is just... super disconnected to that aspect and since he has _so little_ to do with the overall story, if you remove Sid (and Scrat) the film basically becomes _a drama_ and not the dramedy it is today.
"Like it's a weasel who looks like Neil DeGrasse Tyson... and also Pythagoras... but a weasel... and also a, uh, robot... that's a weasel... so...." The delivery on that was perfect. lol

Ouch.
putting aside the whole "saber-tooth tigers are hunting one specific child" thing... if we accept that that's lore in the story, I actually think it makes perfect sense why they'd take the baby instead of a grown man
firstly, it's easier, but - more importantly - it's genuinely evil; THAT is actually something that an evil gang would do, kill someone's baby, because any parent will tell you it's far more painful to lose a child than it is to lose your own life
The plot twist of there being six ice age movies was insane
this is perfection. i think it's even more bewildering when an animated movie is bad like this because a team of animators handcrafted each and every frame of that bad joke. they worked so so tirelessly modeling that weasel and for what? for what?
This is why they need to be paid better
You would think the "there's not enough comic relief characters" bit would get old, but somehow it doesn't. It's gold every single time.
i hate that you held up julien and my immediate thought was "what about that possum who was friends-to-lovers with peaches?" i hate that i know that much ice age lore my only defense is that i have a little sister EDIT: he was a mole hog named louis from ice age 4 so i guess they took him out because they didnt want to write an inter-species relationship
So much for woke Hollywood
@@kwarra-an This comment took me OUT
I just genuinely gasped upon reading this comment, because I really liked Louis. He was probably my favorite part about Ice Age 4 (which I did not like as much as the first 3).
@@Feed-Me-Lorelouis was easily the best part of ice age 4 like he was adorable only to never be seen again
I think the franchise would be dead even if Disney hadn't Disneyed, honestly. But yeah, what they did to Bluesky fucking sucked.
every single time you said how far into the movie something was, i was floored by how much time to go there still was
Fr every time I was like wtf
You are so funny! I also had that moment! I'm at the magnetic astroids part and I'm like "this movie isn't even half reviewed yet HOW
"we're 40 minutes into the movie and we're back in space 😮💨" this and the "which is good because i didn't think we had enough comic relief characters" gag never got old throughout the entire video
someone really looked at that one charming kids movie about found family and went "now that we've spent a whole movie bringing these characters together into a family unit, what if we made more of these movies but also separated all of the main characters into monogamous heterosexual Christian relationships"
family?? Without any romantic or blood ties?? Can’t be.
Wait I didn't think of it like that but omg! I always saw Syd as a kind of gay uncle type character but I only know the first film as a kid
ikr the entire point of the first movie was that family doesnt have to be blood and then they just... made everyone also have their own blood families
Why am I thinking about this so much?
and? lmao
@@celebrityguest.9530I mean, while the first Land Before Time is a classic, there’s at least four sequels I can immediately think of that were just as good…
Land Before Time 2 and 4-6, especially 5 and 6, the former being a great way to make Chomper so much better, the latter being a solid chapter in its own right with an awesome ending.
And then when they know they’re going to have Peaches, build on that with “oh no, I’m afraid to have a kid again because *trauma*” and then this one “oh no, it’s happening again, I’m losing my child!”
All the while doing similar stuff with Syd and Diego as B and C plots while they continue supporting each other and surviving together- maybe Syd learns not to be so clingy throughout the series as he overcomes his abandonment issues because he’ll always have the herd.
I’m forever bummed that they forgot the first movie and didn’t just continue with the emotional development of these characters and their stories.
my entire life i thought i was raised on the first ice age movie and literally only now do i realize my whole childhood it was ice age 2 dawn of the dinosaurs. after searching through the family movie collection i have discovered we never even owned the first movie im so bewildered befuddled utterly flabbergasted rn
dinosaurs was 3, meltdown was 2.
That's number 3. Because I WAS RAISED ON TWO THINKING IT WAS ONE. Which is the one where their home starts melting and it has a terrifying eel creature and a scene were buzzards try to eat the gang.
@@krell.1415i’m cursed to sing “food glorious food” every time i’m hungry.
the fact that this is longer than the first ice age movie is,,, so telling
Peaches is his child though

I'm choosing to believe that Manny thinking Sid was responsible for the fireworks was a callback to Sid being the fire king in the second movie
I love how you can tell that this video is going to be unhinged just looking at the premiere time. Why not just make it 7:00 on the dot? Because ice age 5: collision course (2016) doesn't deserve punctuality.
When did it premiere?
@@Drokovat if I remember correctly it was 7:02
I just had a thought. You think part of the reason that Manny is so willing to sacrifice his life for Diego is because he wasn't able to do that for his wife and child and harbours some intense survivors guilt?
Cause I think that.
And it makes me sad.
"things Deigo wants: approval"
the pause after that was brilliantly delivered lol

I didn't recognize ANYTHING you talked about in Ice Age 5 until you mentioned Skrat getting squished by the automatic doors repeatedly. I-- I think I may have watched the movie?? A genuinely harrowing thought.
I still think the reason the mom gives them her baby is because she's experiencing hypothermia and straight up cannot think clearly, She see's big fuzzy and warm and associates that with her babies best chance of survival.
If my life was a movie franchise, I would love to think that Haley would make one of these lil videos about how it doesn’t make any sense and that the themes are conflicting and the plot-lines don’t really go anywhere before other plot-lines are introduced
List of movie sequels to do this series for:
Shrek Forever After, the fourth installment in the Shrek series
Despicable Me 3, I completely forgot there was a third one
Ghostbusters: Afterlife, how is there FOUR ghostbuster movies and why are the Stranger Things kids here
Madagascar 3/ Penguins of Madagascar, why is there a evil animal cop and/or evil octopus
Lion King 1 1/2, apparently this was not an elaborate fever dream I made up as a child
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out Of The Shadows, why they look like that
Alvin and The Chipmunks: The Road Chip, I thought they stopped after the island arc
Night At The Museum: Secret Of The Tomb, I didn’t know there was a sequel even???
Jaws 4: The Revenge, what did they do to my sharky boy
Alice Through The Looking Glass, sequel to Alice In Wonderland (2010) which somehow make even less sense despite being a direct sequel
Herbie: Fully Loaded, leave Lindsay Lohan out of this
Cats & Dogs: Paws Unite!, also thought I imagined this series
Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs 2, the food is animals now for some reason, there’s a monkey called Barb
there's FOUR alvin and the chipmunks movies???
and four shrek movies????

oh my god madagascar 3 was such a wild fever dream but tbh i love it because it is just so batshit crazy which makes it incredibly funny
I went in expecting a Sarah Z style video. This was a lot more insane and unhinged and I AM HERE FOR IT
Buck as a character feels like they wanted to make Jack Sparrow, forgot what Jack Sparrow is actually like, simply went with the AestheticTM and then told the audience that they have to like him because he is Jack Sparrow, and everybody likes Jack Sparrow.
I like buck in 3 because he was the only one who knew what was happening but was also clearly nuts so he was unpredictable and unreliable
The funny thing is Ice Age (2002) absolutely WAS a cultural touchstone in Norway where I'm from, because the Norwegian dub and specifically the Norwegian voice of Sid is just SO good it became instantly iconic.
My little brother is living in the US at the moment and he was absolutely shocked to find that his American friends didn't view Ice Age as the huge cultural touchstone moment that he did and were just like "oh yeah I kinda remember that movie"
I am _keenly_ aware of their being five Ice Age movies. My niece watched them _all._ She liked them _all._
I haven't watched the video yet, but I just wanted you to know _yes, I do know this movie exists and did before I watched any of your videos where you mentioned it._ Because I had a five-year-old niece and a sister who watched all the Ice Age movies while over at our house. _Many many times._
Edit: Oh honey, you missed a _trip_ in Ice Age 4! There were _sirens!_ Literal Greek Myth sirens with _glamours._
you actually make a really good point about the baby not being scared, pretty sure babies have basically no sense of danger yet due to not developing one properly. there was a spider experiment where a baby was exposed to (I hope) non venomous spiders and none of them were at all scared because the reason people develop fears of spiders is because they notice from parents that they fear them or the people around them fear them and internalise that theres a reason to fear them.
I laugh louder and louder every time she says we don't have enough comic relief in this series
funny thing is, adults are scared of wild animals because we understand the dangers
a lot of infants and toddlers just see a fuzzy animal, so that makes perfect sense to me why the baby isn't afraid
the mother who gave her baby to wild animals on the other hand....
Ice Age 5 felt like a fever dream like even hearing the plot is all over the place like Ice age from 3 animals forming their own herd to basically saving the world
"diego has a girlfriend. which. not the vibe i got from diego" finally someone has the bravery to say it
fun fact i had gender envy over diego as a kid before coming out as trans at age 11. thank you diego for being a piece in my engayening

My phone background is sexy Diego
all this told me is that Haley should've written ice age 5
This is my favorite Ice Age: Collision Course Video!!! I thought of a side plot they could have given Shira to impact the story more and be more relevant to the conclusion of the family dynamic. Have Shira and Peaches have a heart to heart and talk about her experience being abused by Gutt and what it’s like to leave what she’s known her whole life. Both her and Diego left their original herd and maybe that interaction could’ve impacted what Peaches and Julian choose to do after their wedding. Maybe it’ll even give Manny more time to reflect xD
Excellent Work!
Ok but any script doctoring needs to add more comedy relief, though, because that’s really something that this movie doesn’t have enough of.
In all honesty, Blue Sky really should have stopped at 4 movies. Hell, in perfect world we would only have three.
In a perfect world they would've brought the baby (Roshan) back to reunite with the herd of Manny, Diego, and Sid and bring everything full circle... but they never did and that was MY biggest disappointment re: the sequels...
Your commitment to saying so many of those bits with a straight face as many times as you did is top tier
"What is a mountain, if not a volcano"
I had that scene in mind from Wandavision, and it was so close.
"What is a mountain, if not a volcano persevering."
Cannot believe i am considering binge-watching all five (6) ice age movies now.
The interesting part about the Scrat scenes (besides them being the best part of the film) is that they were apparently made up by the storyboard artists and not the writers.
22:26 "Also in this movie, Diego has a girlfriend! *awkward confused silence* Which... Not the vibe I got from Diego, but-"

Unironically the dinosaur one was really really good and I loved it and still do.
You slowly losing your composure as you describe Diego's family is priceless.
this was really fun! i would love to see more of these kinds of things from you! as far as suggestions for other series to do so, the despicable me series comes to mind it had a lot more movies than i think anyone realizes.
I think the weirdest part about the Ice Age sequels is that they all seem to want to forget that Ice Age 1 exists.
I love everytime there is a bad gag/joke you just say "ha haaaaaa" 😐
Ice age: beautiful masterpiece
2: ok
3: ok
4: I personally like it but completely understand why people don't.
5: Meh...
Yeah I agree with the title. Two was more than enough, let alone three was already pushing it. Five? They already milked it dry by then.
I just came back to finally finish this video off and it started back with “Buck, seeing the angry llama, is now inspired to use the volcano” and I think that beautifully proves the title of the video
So in the first movie review, you say that sid is a pwrson sized sloth. Sid is based on megatherium. They grew up to 20 feet long. Food for thought
Scrat was the name of our family pet Chihuahua. He was dumb as fuck lol
My favorite part of all this? RUclips isn’t even recommending an Ice Age movie under this video. It’s recommending Deep Impact 😂
Manny, Sid, and Diego have a Shrek, Donkey, and Puss In Boots dynamic
girl you are so right. what IS a rock if not a volcano
There was the first Ice Age film, then there was everything else.

The thing about Ice age 5 making it bad, is taking the freaking most common sitcom/romance plots and placing these characters that don't fit those on them.
5 movies seems like a lot but as a horror fan I am used to franchises cross 10 movies and none of them are profitable or known to a general audience so like Ice Age is reasonable to me
I don’t think there was enough comedic relief characters

I would love to inform you that canonically, the movie is opened by Neil deBuck Weasel
hello haley whipjack. just wanted to say i’ve been here from the beginning and feel like a proud aunt watching this insane unhinged video
1:23:51 to be fair..thats basically been Sid's role since the second movie.
Sid is just... there, and whilst he is decent comic relief in IA1, he is such a plot-irrelevant character that the movie might've been stronger if they removed Sid entirely and focussed on the bonds btwn mammoth, sabre-tooth tiger, and baby instead, in my opinion since those three characters form the poignant drama of IA1 whilst Sid is just... super disconnected to that aspect and since he has _so little_ to do with the overall story, if you remove Sid (and Scrat) the film basically becomes _a drama_ and not the dramedy it is today.
ngl i always thought that ice age 2 was the first one until i tried watching ice age and it was about a baby and not a meltdown
