I see a lot of responses being vocalists in the metal genres, and even though my favorite bands are in those genres, my favorite vocalists actually aren't. Picking just 3 is tough, but I do love Bjork, Sinead O'Connor, and the late Dolores O'Riordan.

Wow, okay you guys, as someone who not only loves symphonic metal but all sorts of other genres of music, it's time to break the mold here a little bit, since all of you are mentioning all of these metal ladies almost to the exclusion of anything else. Here are my top three: Ofra Haza, Eivør Pálsdóttir, Natacha Atlas. All three are huge talents of world/folk music. Ofra Haza was Yemeni-Israeli and sang everything from traditional folk songs to world beat. Natacha Atlas is Belgian Egyptian and sings in an Arab style. Eivør of the Faroe Islands has frankly the best voice in Scandinavia. She does a type of folk music heavily influenced by traditional Faroese and Icelandic songs, and possesses a strong whistle voice. (Yes, I wish she'd join a symphonic metal band haha.) Ofra Haza alone had IMO the best voice mankind will ever hear. If you have an open mind and a love of music besides metal, look them up. You will not be disappointed. Other female vocalists of this genre that I love, but who don't necessarily have the most skilled voices: Cecile Corbel, Loreena McKennitt, Bjork.

Swedish is not very easy to learn, but Floor is obviously very good at languages
Floor in my opinion doesn't sound right with Storytime like Anette. I miss her. I'm waiting to see how many "anti-Anette" replies I get. Lol I've already had a few Floor fans "threat to eat my liver like Hannibal Lector". Very mature fans there indeed. But I would dream of Celine Dion singing for Nightwish. Its cool he likes her voice. She truly does have an amazing voice.

I disagree, Floor sings Storytime way better. Imo the only song Anette sings better is Scaretale, but I'd like to hear some other songs sang by Floor to compare e.g. Turn loose the mermaids and The crow, the owl and the dove. Seriously, have you seen Wacken open air 2013? Floor nailed it and it was just a couple of months after she joined the tour. Floor unlike Anette is capable of singing songs from previous albums designed for Tarja. Anette seriously lacks the operatic voice but I like her a lot, because if not for her both Dark Passion Play and Imaginaerum albums would've looked different. And I love those 2 albums. Celine would look awkward on stage with NW, i don't think she can rock but I have to admit, to see her head banging on stage to let's say "I want my tears back" would have been hilarious and worthwhile! :D
On the side note, you must've pissed those "Floor fans" off quite harshly :D

I dont hate floor because I love Elan but In my "opinion", Anette is way better. My opinion. You have yours and I have mine. Some will agree while others to disagree. No malice intended but I would rather see Celine Dion with Nightwish than floor. But again, my opinion.

This guy isnt qualified to evaluate female vocal talent. He has let go of 2 amazing vocalists, in favor of a really bad lead singer in Floor. They just made a song with a different male vocalist, that was Cringeworthy.
The best three? That would be Floor Jansen, Floor Jansen and Floor Jansen. ;)
