    The worst part about this game is the fact that it took them 17 years to have a game about ninjas.
    When people think "Hidden group of assassins in the shadows" the first thought is always ninjas.

      As I understand it, that's why they waited so long. If I remember correctly, they admitted once that they simply did not feel inspired by the concept of making an AC game in Japan due to media being so oversaturated with ninjas. It sucked for players, but I'm glad they waited for inspiration to come rather than making a game that's completely soulless a decade ago (at least, I hope they found some inspiration).

      If you want a good game then you should pay full price. Its like people spend 60$ then complain when the game is only half as good as it could be. Yes the games have been pretty average lately, but the only defence ill give them is since the ps4 games have been more expensive to make while also being cheaper to sell.honestly tho if they make another game like brotherhood it'll sell like crazy. Who wouldent want to command 100 assassin's and fight hords of bad guys or be stealthy, its obvious that they know it works but they just dont want to commit to the idea

  • @Jean-hb8jq
    @Jean-hb8jq 2 месяца назад +14

    The major problems with AC Shadows are as follows:
    1. The protagonists of Assassin's Creed were always fictional, they didn't exist historically speaking, while the characters that did exist were always secondary characters that you help and/or who help you here and there. You see that with Marquis de Sade (I don't know if I wrote it right, the guy from Unity that helps Arno two/three times in the whole game), George Washington, Robespierre, Thomas Edson, Charles Darwin, Napoleon, so on and so forth. And now all of a sudden, they want to get a character who is historically real and put him as a main character. People would most likely not mind if Yasuke was a secondary character like the ones mentioned above. Maybe we could have a mission where we recue him after his master's defeat and then he joins the Creed. Explaining why there wasn't many information about what happened to him after his master was defeated.
    2. The protagonists were always either natives from the region the games takes place, or were greatly related to that region in some way. Connor is a native american in America, Arno is a native french man in France, Bayek is an egyptian in Egypt, so on and so forth. People in Japan, who are getting upset over Yasuke, most likely wanted to see a japanese-looking protagonist. And if they wanted to make a male and female protagonist, the japanese would want both of them to physically resemble japanese people. Since it takes place in Japan. But no, you got one japanese-looking women and a not-japanese-looking man. Just imagine, waiting so much for a game that takes place in your home and the male protagonist doesn't even look japanese. Of course they are mad, I don't blame them. People wouldn't complain if Yasuke was instead a guy who had a japanese physical appearence.
    3. The Sengoku Period (when the game takes place) was apparently extremely important for Japan and had other really important characters in that time. But instead, they go with a guy who some people aren't even 100% sure was even a samurai. And even then, he served for less than a year, in other words he was irrelevant in the greater picture. If they picked a historical character more important to the era, people most likely wouldn't mind that much.
    In other words: Yasuke shouldn't have been the male protagonist. It should have been someone who was fictional. And if you wanted a historical figure, grab someone who looks japanese and had more relevance in that extremely important historical period, you know, for the game taking place in Japan. Like I said previously, Yasuke would be fine as a secondary character, but not a protagonist. Because he doesn't look like a japanese, he wasn't relevant in that historical period and he is a historical figure (those shouldn't be MCs in AC).
    The reason they did this is most likely do signal "virtue" (even though there is nothing virtuous about this). To please the woke people who whine and complain about: how much they are against the "big scary R", even though their ideas that you should shove characters with a certain skin color as much as you can in every single place, even at the expense of other cultures, is extremely "big scary R".
    And don't even get me started on the japanese female being able to push a guy double her size with her noodle-looking arms. And taking down four (or more) samurais from the front. Even though they are all trained soldiers double her size, and she was supposed to focus more on stealth. The trailer should have portraid her seducing a target and then ending him, because apparently that's what kunoichis did. You would have an element of a historical ninja and someone of the Creed (since ninjas were more like: information gatherers and didn't really finish anyone off unless necessary). It would be cool to see her take some samurais down stealthly, but then she gets spotted, surrounded and then she whistles (or something like that) and her ally samurai shows up to defend her, since she is not good at open combat. And then she climbs a wall and starts using bow and arrow to help him, or something like that.
    And also, apparently people went on Wikipedia and tried to rewrite his relevance after the trailer was released. Which (if true) is disgusting.
    Do you understand why people are mad now?

      So... With the 'Modern' standard. They made Naoe. The female ninja look masculine.... I would bet. IGN, Ubisoft and these journalists would make naoe a transgender.
      They are already making yasuke and naoe bisexual in the game by having romance options

    • @HerMi.T
      @HerMi.T 29 дней назад +2

      @@captainnyan-nyan2005 romance options always work like that in rpg where you have multiple options to date anyone you want. It is not deep and I don't think it is wrong to make them like that in a fictional story.
      Also what is this trans logic. I don't see modern shows with trans characters. Trans character is probably the most uncommon character in the media. Also they didn't make them trans in the first place. What is this weird attack on trans people?
      What if they have a fictional character who is trans and japanese? Would that be fine?

    • @HerMi.T
      @HerMi.T 29 дней назад +3

      Oh god, no.
      The problem is the character doesn't look like Japanese for japanese people. That's all.
      Why can't they use a historical figure with very little information and construct their own character through those interpretations? It is a very common thing known as historical fiction. Assassin creed is always a historical fiction not a fully fictional story.
      It's a whole schtick is the history which is hidden from you. Why can't it use historical characters and bend them to create their own version of character? That's what they already did multiple times.
      Something like where they can take yasuke and create their own version of character like this version of yasuke is an actual samurai not just a retainer or this yasuke is actually born in Japan. That's called historical fiction.
      So your logic is pretty stupid and very restrictive for any media creators. Also about your female logic. This type of thing is common where a weaker character can flip a person with a proper technique. This type of troupe is common. Now this is a problem for you too.

    • @Jean-hb8jq
      @Jean-hb8jq 29 дней назад +1

      @@HerMi.T 1. Because all other protagonists of the main games were fictional, therefore, the two in Shadows should also be like this. Gives them even more creative freedom than a real historical person.
      2. They CAN do it, as long as they do it the way they were already doing, making historical figures secondary characters that help you here and there, NOT as the protagonist.
      3. According to the information available he most likely wasn't a samurai. It would make more sense to have him as a secondary character that you rescue and then joins the Creed. They don't just twist things as they wish, they justify history as we know. That thing that happened in Portugal, happened because Shay got the artifact. As far as public knowledge here and in their universe goes...that would be possible. However: they do those things in the shadows. The historical figures only do things that their history doesn't tell us when no one is watching. There is a difference between:
      Napoleon meeting Arno where both are alone in the room and then escaping without anyone seeing.
      and:
      Yasuke going after the guys from the front, being exposed in the way he is.
      Yeah, there is historical fiction, but that's not how they have always been doing it.
      4. Restrictive you say? Ok, why not go further? Why not give a magical wand to Musashi Miyamoto and allow him do walk around in the open casting spells? That's right, because it's not consistent with the premise they always had brought in all those games. There is a thing called internal consistency: A piece of fiction must follow the rules established internally by it. If the rules are: "This is basically our world, but we tell the story of what happened in the shadows, this way it remains consistent with what we know about history in our world."
      Then you can't have a real life human being going in the open to do this thing. Specially when you take into consideration that his height and different appearence CALLS A LOT OF ATTENTION AND WOULD CHANGE HISTORY AS WE KNOW IT IF HE WENT AROUND DOING THE STUFF HE IS GOING TO DO IN THE GAME, RIGHT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE!!!
      5. Just because it's common, doesn't mean it's good and it doesn't mean that it can't receive scrutiny. Again: AC world is OUR world. The way physics work should be the same. The only "mystical" elements are actually just highly advanced technology. She most likely doesn't have that, which means that: she shouldn't be able to do it. Not only that, but the problem is not that she managed to push/defeat the guys. The problem is her APPROACH. You talk about technique, but she just used physical strength, not stealth and dexterity; at least not in the moments I talked about.

      You dont need a sword to kill a enemy lord, Just something sharp to their throat while they sleep, You dont need a elaborate alchemy set to poison some grain, Just a bag of rats to throw in with it, You dont need a special explosive to blow up a gate, Just something to burn it with like pitch.
      The idea of Peasant Shinobi is frankly ridiculous, A Population paid in rice and spent every day Farming, Hunting or Fishing, and any deviation from that being killed or being recruited as ashigaru to go fight, Do not have the Funds to do any of this.
      Shinobi required specialty schools, specialty mentors, specialty after specialty, Which is not cheap and requires a long time to learn how to make work, let alone the experience to teach it, Generations of farmers cant do that, Generations of Warriors who have already done this type of sabotage and destruction and jobs, But now can just do it from behind enemy lines? Thats something they could very much afford and did. Just look at Odas bloodbrothers clan, Half of its achievements was only possible because of how many Samurai Families who specialised in Espionage thus becoming Shinobi.

    It’s Ubisoft tradition to drop a cinematic trailer to build hype for the games and they are always well made so I don’t have a complaint. They usually don’t tell you too much about gameplay but this one actually shows you a lot of what you would have access to in the game. For example the pivot style hidden blade making a return and shurikens being the new throwable instead of knives and a grappling hook.

      You completely missed what AC3 tried to portray if that's the case. George and the colonists weren't exactly seen as the "good guys" from Connor's view after helping them. His character development is underrated and arguably should've been fleshed out in another game. Also, was the Haytham turn not good? Literally, nobody, when they first played, expected it.

    Originally this game was going to be about a Japanese monk named Yamauchi Taka. The main conflict would be about how Oda Nobunaga had a Japanese equivalent to Excalibur, giving him an unfair advantage. After Hattori Hanzo takes out Nobunaga, Taka would be trained into the Brotherhood. Taka would be tasked with retrieving the sword after Hanzo’s death. But Ubisoft changed it to be about Yasuke and that Japanese girl. Iirc, Yasuke was a retainer, not a samurai. Nobunaga was surprised that a black person could exist, and even tried washing him because he couldn’t believe someone could have black skin. He kept him out of novelty. Long story short, I’m fairly certain Ubisoft changed the story to be about Yasuke for woke points. Wouldn’t surprise me if Sweet Baby Inc was involved as well.

I look more white than anything, I'm American, but this is nevertheless part of my heritage. It's annoying to see any culture marketed and sold. Cinematic trailers are not bad the purpose is to get casuals and newbies intrested into meeting the characters or checking out the gameplay trailer.
    alot these games would be so good without the Assassin's Creed ip but everytime the slap on the ip it feels lazy and your doing it for the cash grab

    To be fair, if they didn't do a cinematic trailer first, many people would immediately dismiss the game as a cheap, low-effort spin-off they're rushing out half-finished. Cinematic trailers are a tradition in this series, so people expect them. It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation. Many people will complain either way, so why not just do the cinematic trailer? At least that way the people who are actually going to consider buying the game instead of just mocking it or getting outraged over nothing (Seriously, why is anyone surprised anymore that the series which turned some random French silversmith into an evil Templar mastermind takes some creative liberties with history?) will be more excited.
    And so we're clear, I don't blame people for mocking or being pessimistic about Ubisoft games. After the spectacle that was Skull and Bones, the world's first "quadruple A" game, it makes sense to doubt them, and they deserve to be clowned on. Still, most of the people ranting so furiously about this trailer and the characters likely wouldn't buy the game regardless, so there's no point in Ubisoft catering to them. Personally, I'm somewhat hopeful for this game, seeing as it is being made by the same people who made Syndicate, my third favorite in the series, but I'm certainly not pre-ordering it after experiencing the transcendantly mediocre disappointment that was AC Mirage. And seeing as I don't have a PS5, I'll probably have to wait for the PC version to get patched months after release, so I'll have plenty of time to decide.

      Naw, there's definitely people out there that are not happy with this game trailer that would have bought the game if it looked like it had been made in good faith. I'm one of them.

    The part I care about are the main characters writing. I don't care that one is black. I don't care if Yasuke was never actually a Samurai, this game is all about them changing history anyway. At the very least one of the main characters being Yasuke helps separate it from other games set in Japan.

  • @VonOutlaw
    @VonOutlaw 2 месяца назад +2

    Just so you know that particular character was actually never a samurai he served one, he was front to parties to dance and to entertain and he would serve his Samurai master. And if you go to the video for the Japanese trailer of it you can read all their comments on how they even State the same as well as how they strongly disagree with the fact that they have to play as that character and not a Japanese man.

      He was a samurai and he not only fought in 3 battles (the last one he got captured), he was trusted and loyal retainer to Nobugana. I dont know where you got that he only "danced" and "entertained" people like he was some sort of jester.
      Lastly, I wouldn't trust the Ubisoft Japan video considering anyone can downvote and make accounts pretending to be Japanese. Japanese twitter literally did not care about Yaskue being the main character, and some popular Japan tweets even mocked Westerners for making this a controversy.

      He never fought in any battles he carried the stuff for a samurai he never fought all documentation States otherwise. So much so that the side that saying that he was a samurai went after Wikipedia to have it removed where it says that he was never a samurai. There was such a fight on them trying to change the history that they had to lock the page so people couldn't keep changing it. When actual historians State the opposite of what you're stating. On top of that the hypocrisy where I thought it was extremely racist for us to redo Resident Evil 5 because it's a white man taking out a virus that happens to have taken hosts of African descent. And you have to fight your way out to survive by stopping the virus. Yet with AC Shadows having a black man take out Japanese people is not interesting.
