bro, I've been searching a DCS/Il-2 youtuber that does prop content for a while and you're god tier. I always wanted to play those games but because of my country I can't afford them and, well, just watching you makes me happy. Keep up the good work. Ily
I like it when it's full. Very easy to get in to trouble, especially when their is a fur ball and it doesn't take long to find enemy planes, but when it's quiet I can practise my dive bombing on the enemy airfields and mission targets and take in the shapes of the forested area's to learn the southern part of the map when I'm on the German side. But their is definitely a pattern with time zone's. It seems to favour the European time zone in the evening I think. Correct me if I'm wrong. I only just found out the other day that you can visually see at least three airfields near each other (from the seat of your cockpit) down south and I can also just fly back to Argentan that's a lot closer to the front line's to repair and re-fuel etc after taking off from Essay or wherever. I learn something new every multiplayer match I fly on, in the SoW server.
Great video Phil... I wish I could play more online on the SoW server. I actually found the 2nd part of the 190 flying with no radio to be incredibly immersive, its like you're alone inside the head of the pilot, with only your thoughts as you engage the enemy aircraft. Looking forward to the next upload!
Really well executed, super bad day for that 109 with no fuel who had to land mid attack. I would have ditched in a field rather than face that many Jugs.
Great vid again, Phil. Thanks. I'm looking forward to seeing the Mossie on Storm of War - I feel you're cutting your nose off to spite your face by not allowing it currently.
@@philstyle That's the only reason you're withholding it? Because of some bugs on an unrelated airframe? It's a 'protest'? Seems a bit petulant but, whatever, it's your train set.
@@philstyle Indeed we must. One is a Mosquito, the other is an Anton. Two completely separate modules. What was the typical compliment of 20mm flak and mg34 teams assigned to these aerodromes? I seen what looked to be something resembling flak 88's harassing them as they went inland but nothing at the aerodrome itself.
The flak either did not spawn in this mission due to a bug, or it had already been destroyed by other players earlier. There is usually 7 to 9 20mm AA guns at each base in these missions.
Great flying. Looked like a good time. Why do you fly the anton and dora instead of the 109? I own the 109 and wondering what I am missing with the FWs. They seem inferior, but as is obvious from your videos, in the right hands they are very capable.
The FW190 was actually considered a strait upgrade from the 109 when it first came out. It is more complicated than this however, Kurt Tank (Designer of the FW190) described the difference like this; The Me-109 was a race horse, fast nimble but could easily break a leg, the FW190 was a warhorse it was more rugged, heavy, resilient and powerful. The 190 had more rugged landing gear it could carry more ordinance both in cannon and in bombs, and also more resilient to damage. They ended up filling different roles. The FW190a are great ground attack aircraft, some even being much more armored against ground fire, while the D variant is a fast interceptor with tremendous fire power, fast in a strait line, with great roll rate it dominates in energy fighting tactics and less so in dog fights.
