    Of course after I posted this, about 1000 other ones came to my head. Pilates instructors, what else did I miss? Or what do you wish someone had told you would happen once you started teaching?

    I loved everything you said-and I have experienced everything thing you described about teaching Pilates, I am 73 yrs old and have been in the fitness business fir 40 years-starting with Jazzercise. I have been teach Pilates for the last 20 years and I love it. I work with clients from middle age to in their 90"s and I have seen amazing changes in their bodies, from strength, balance, flexibility, posture and attitude. It has been a blessing in my life.

    Thanks for this. I’m just over a year into my private lessons, and I love them. I love my instructor, and her friend who subs when my teacher is away on holiday or sick. I came to the idea earlier this year that I might continue my education and possibly teach, and my instructor was very supportive of the idea...a few months later she told me that I should teach (and not just because she knew it was something that I was thinking about). So that was reassuring that I am on the right path...just not ready yet for the teacher training as I am still learning things and progressing myself. My goal is for me to make someone feel as good as my teacher makes me feel. In all capacities. Physically, mentally, emotionally...I want to be her to someone else. Preferably to lots of someone elses. ;) I definitely have Pilates brain, and don’t shut up about it to people, and I’m buying more activewear than regular clothes these days.oh, and I voluntarily read Pilates Anatomy (can say that I did learn a lot more than I thought I would, however, a lot is still over my head). I even bought my own copy after I returned the one I read to the library. Turned out to be the second edition, so my teacher brought in her first edition (the edition the library had) and let me take it home to compare more thoroughly than the quick glance we did together. Ummm, so I spent a few hours comparing the two, side by side. Then I reread/skimmed through her copy to see what she had highlighted and made notes on. I kept my nerd badge after that. Lol.

      You will absolutely LOVE going through training, it will deepen your personal practice so much and you will learn so much, even if you don't plan to teach right away! I've gone through two trainings and each time I have just been amazed at all the information and how much it has helped me both as a Pilates student and a teacher!

    Margaret, nice video! Well done! I totally agree with your values and your concepts! I use a similar structure when I coach my students to become certified Pilates teachers under my 600-hour Comprehensive Pilates teacher training programme and run their own businesses. The formula I teach creates transformations over and over again. My clients come to be because they have had enough of overwhelm, not happy working for someone else, not managing to get by and living paycheck to paycheck. I offer them the possibility to gain a new skill in helping others, which not only gives them personal satisfaction but offers them a very healthy and profitable lifestyle. I'm loving what I do and I thank all my teachers for the skills I can pass on to these people! Sending you love and light!!!

    Hi Margaret, I need your opinion on which pilates teaching training to go with. I am a fan of of the classical method. Where did you get your training from?

    • @MargaretElizabethLLC
      @MargaretElizabethLLC  3 года назад +2

      I initially did a training through the studio I was taking class at, which was a training specific to their style of teaching, and after about 2 years I did a 500 hour comprehensive training through The Lab, it was created by the women than own Pilates + Coffee and has a huge focus on not only the classical exercises and execution but also on actually being able to teach and create classes. It’s a PMA certified program, but any comprehensive program is good!! This one fit my needs best and the women leading it were teachers that I wanted to learn from! I think it’s more valuable to be trained by people you trust and that you look up to, instead of doing a program just to do it! Cost and convenience also play a factor.

    so how much does a pilates instructor make? i know it really depends, but it would be good to know what is the cut for a group class? I am currently into my first 100 hours of teacher training. This is a question that I have always had.

    • @MargaretElizabethLLC
      @MargaretElizabethLLC  6 месяцев назад

      I've been paid a couple of different ways - a flat rate per class, I started at $20 per class and after 3 years was up to $27 a class, I've also been paid a 60% cut per person for classes, and now I get paid $11 per person plus commission. So it really varies!!

      I got my first Pilates certification through my local studio, it was a training program specific to their method of teaching. And I then went on to do a 500 hour comprehensive program through The Lab, it’s a program that is certified through PMA!! There’s actually a lot more options than just the programs you typically hear of, take some time to do research and figure out what is going to be best for you!!
