    I agree with the findings of James Pavel Shawcross. I played it recent at Thomann Germany. It’s not a home practise piano but more an all in one stage keyboard. Not my favorite digital piano. Yamaha’s P515 price&quality is my favorite or Kawai. Real piano brands!

      I have a feeling James Pavel doesn't like Roland product and perhaps his review on most of the Roland product kind of bias. I am a RD 88 user and so far I think it is a great stage piano.

    Can't justify the weight and price of the Rd2000, but I've got the same sounds. Just wish the interface was a little easier to use in real time. Paired with my Spacestation V3 stereo amp it's the best not acoustic piano I've ever played.

    Guys I played the rd88 at guitar center today. I'm in USA. I love the keyboard and action is finominal.
    I am disappointed with speakers as I want to maybe play nursing homes or jewelry stores around Christmas time and use the mic.
    I was messing around and hit the "key touch" button then I adjusted the "Velocity" from "Real" and incremented it up to 100 to 125. You literally get almost twice the volume out of those speakers its actually very loud but keys are very sensitive. But if you now lower the volume a bit it sounds pretty good with still more volume out of those speakers.
    My question " what the heck did I do?"
    It must set the key velocity like your slamming down on them when your really not. But is this a legit way to get more volume out of these speakers. Can you guys try this and let me know. I wonder also if this effects the mic volume as well I really want to get on of these puppies
    Thanks any advice appreciated.
    Thanks Mj.

      You turned up the velocity which makes even the softest keyboard touch go to 127. Navigate through the menu and just do a factory reset

    How does it compare to the Yamaha P-515?

    • @Alan_Chapman
      @Alan_Chapman 3 года назад +2

      P-515 is basically a mid-tier Clavinova without the expensive cabinet and sound system. It’s more piano focused and intended for home practice. RD-88 is more comparable to something like an MX88. That’s got a very overlapping features and price point to this. Yamaha used to have a wider range of CP keyboards, but now they’re all considered top shelf stage keyboards from them so I wouldn’t compare them to this.

    I love the RD88 but I'm starting to get bored of it even with the Roland cloud sounds added to it. I'm now in the market for a Kawai MP11se I know insanely expensive but worth it, and I would probably trade this RD88 to the Privia s6000.

    Personally I found the navigation with all these "arrow" buttons outdated and not at all efficient. Terrible! And there is no app provided to be able to compensate this messy navigation. There is not possibility to add a music stand, not to say that at that price it is coming with a crappy plastic sustain pedal 😕 Come on Roland! It is supposed to be targeting professionals!
