It has nothing to do with the god power, it is just a nice coincidence. This is the normal damage model. At 19:28 you can see a second stronghold with the same hole.
Drongo, when this game comes out you MUST be as knowledgeable about this game as you are with the other AOE please!! It will be joyful to watch you cover this game with as much enthusiasm as you do Age VI! Keep up the good work brother!
Darn it Drongo. It's Tornado Alley (not Valley). The most tornado-y state is probably Kansas, which is where Dorothy was from in the Wizard of Oz. Edit: I just looked it up and "Tornado Valley" is apparently a thing, per Wikipedia. But I've never heard it called "Valley", and the region of the US is the Great Plains so "Valley" makes very little sense.
Thank you for explaining the zoom-feature. I think a tiny bit closer in would be nice so we can see what's going on! Similar level zoom to the AOE4 content, which is perfect imo. Thank you!!
0:40 that is also the name of the egyptian pantheon theme. The composer @kevinmcmullan_01 has a neat video exploring how it was made and another performing it solo
The TC expansion places confused me a lot while playing the beta coming from aoe4. Why in this game are the TC expansions near no other resources usually. While comparing it to playing aoe4 placing your TC expansion always next to a viable resource to have as minimal walking distance for villagers.
The TC in AOM are special because of the extra population they provide. Choosing the most suitable TC is quite important and not having resources too close is key to motivating a more aggressive game.
@@Calebol04 AOM has population. the reason why settlements are population boosters is to promote offensive gameplay. a player that is playing defensive is severely disadvantage in AOM because you can build extra units per army timing attack which will make you win engagements. there is also limited resource. eventually your gold mine runs out and wood/food run out when it comes to Altlantian, Norse & Egpyt so those faction already are forced into offence due to resource game. Chinese and Greek are two faction related defence. Greek have a god called heraphatus which has god power to put a building that gives infinity resources. this allows you to turtle the game to some extent. Chinese have similar thing where their houses/well can produce over-time resources at an infinity rate. In general, AOM god-power recharge system should in theory be able to break any stalemate assuming that god power are good enough.
I absolutely loved this game as a kid and played the absolute shit out of the campaign… but honestly I’m a bit disappointed with retold. AoE4 was basically aoe2 with some cool adjustments to key elements of the game and some interesting interactions that made me fall in love with the game. This game is legitimately just a copy and paste of aom and the graphics aren’t even that spectacular. It’s a bit disappointing for sure that they didn’t spice the game up a bit. How does everyone else feel about retold?
Honestly they've done an interesting job with the rebalancing; I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks at release. What I've seen thus far is good for a remaster. I've never really felt the 'copy and paste' critique was warranted, but I can empathize with people who wanted more new stuff right at launch.
Hmm good the hear these responses. Maybe I’ll hold back my judgement until I actually play the game at final release. Unfortunately couldn’t play the beta this past weekend. I do wish they would do the grid key setup by age for buildings like aoe4 but maybe that is something that can be changed in settings.
No that's not true. It's a faithful remake of a classic game. Search for "CRIATURAS MITICAS" (myth unit visual comparsion vid) where you can see how much better retold looks while staying very close to the original design of most units. Some units (minotaur, wadjet, jörmungandr and some more) changed drastically but i think they look good. Retold even has raytracing - not super important but nice to have. There's another video from the same channel comparing buildings between retold and classic. Search for "Comparando EDIFICIOS". Also fophuxake made a very good video about what's different in Retold gameplay wise compared to classic aom. It isn't even close...
i stil don't understand why online players just not change their army compesition for example if one player just started building baracks and built sligers then he wins the fight with no problem. there are counter units you know
For the most part it will be because they've already invested a lot of resources into upgrading that particular unit type and it would be too expensive to pivot into a new one late into the game. You can still beat an army that counters yours if your micro is good enough.
Guys i need help: I bought AoM retold yesterday and it say that i have game i library,i cant find game or instalation button.i spent 39 dollars for nothing or !? Should i buy “advanced acess” version or !?
Not as in AoE 2 and 4. There's an Atlantean God Power that allows you to insta convert units (Traitor I think) and Set can "convert" animals to fight for you
It's not worth surrounding your base with them - they're mostly only useful for blocking up choke-points or trying to funnel your opponents in a particular direction. Once the full-game comes out and we start getting more varied maps you might see them a bit more.
He needed to stop spamming chariots. It obviously wasn't working. Nile should've shifted to Slingers to counter the chariots. You're not going to beat Set in an archer slug fest
Man, I'm so happy with the all the AOM content, pls make enough till the actual drop!
Seeing a DoD player in AoM Retold makes me unreasonably happy, they were my favorite team in the AoM competitive scene
Hey this is me! DoD still going strong!
The way the tornado at 18:45 only took apart a section of the Migdol Stronghold at first is quite impressive detail

Another AoM game! Nice Drongo, love to get more of this
N D Nile is also one of the songs in the AoM soundtrack

Minnesota is on the border of Canada lol. Tornado alley is Oklahoma, Kansas, South Dakota, Missouri, Arkansas, etc..
Glad that the Wadjet got a new model, if I remember correctly they had the saddest litlle reptile wings in the original.
Their wings were literally just the Nidhogg-wings copied and shrunk, lmao. They did the same thing with the antagonist in the Titans story.
It’s Oklahoma that’s got the tornadoes
I had a blast during the beta. I'm looking forward to the full game with the other pantheons.🎉
Surprised Flaco didn't take advantage of the Set Monuments providing unit discounts.
I know you cant flip the UI, but cant you just rotate the map/cast 180 degrees?
Played n_D_Nile in AOE4 yesterday and beat him.
the old fashion set rush on savannah.. how joyful
Love the Egyptians! Cheers for covering AOM @drongo!
Do we have a release date for this game?
4th september
4 Sep 2024
August 27 for the premium edition
If necessary are you able to rotate the camera to change which player is on the left/right? Or does it look weird
We may be in da Nile but we are *not* in denial about the state of this game!
- Drongo
MINNESOTA i mean yeah you're not wrong. Literally all the extreme weather conditions besides tsunamis.
Set supremacy
The Baboon of Set

Hey Drongo, are there team games in AOM retold?
Of cource!
It's pet-soo-cos 😃
TAA makes games look sooo blurry, smudging every detail. This edge smoothing tech only looks good in 4k and its kinda bearable in 2k.
Ngl love how the buildings look.
30 idle villager painnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

Retold added "Village Centers" that are essentially weaker TCs, can be placed anywhere but don't provide additional pop space
you could rotate the minimap to match it up. I just don't like the graphics and wish they did it in the AoE 4 engine.
Drongo - Minnesota is definitely not Tornado valley. Better off using Kansas/Oklahoma :)

actually there are a lot of changes

Why don't the pros build walls? Genuinly curious.
They break incredible fast to siege but take a lot of time to build and resources to upgrade. So often not worth it, unless you have a choke point.

Not a fan of the stats overflow of AoM, like don't give me percentages I want numbers

Make a new AoM channel. This is garbage.
