Lumene is from Finland 🙂 If you are bying from Lyko again, try the swedish brand Isadora. They have my absolut favorite foundation, Isadora active all day wear. Its the best
Another drugstore polish foundation I would recommend is from Bell hypoallergenic and is called "Nude and moist". I'd say the coverage is light-medium, it's moisturising and has lovely natural finish. Number 2 is my perfect shade, but I think I'm a bit more yellow than you;)
New subscriber here, so I haven't watched all your videos, but I've really been enjoying the No7 Lift & Luminate. I'm cool to neutral-toned, too, and don't find them to be yellow. Not super heavy and the finish is somewhere between satin and natural. Great for my dry skin, too. 👍
I just found your channel, and I'm really enjoying it. While I'm older than you are, I'm in my fifties, I have a very similar skin tone and skin type. I like being able to see what they look like and to hear your comments on the products that you use.. Great channel!
Hi Maaike Flower beauty has disappeared from the Superdrug I used to buy it from (Stirling), but you might be ok in London. The only affordable brand I've ever had a good shade match in is Revolution, but they're not my favourite formulations (0.5 or 0.1). As you're not quite as pasty as I am, perhaps try something from No7? Their lift and luminate foundation, or the one in a tube with spf50 might be worth a try for you. Max Factor also have a fairly new glowy complexion product that might work for you. The new L'Oreal serum or age perfect are also fairly recent releases. Boots and Superdrug are your best bet for variety in the more affordable brands here in the UK. I like John Lewis, Harrods and Harvey Nicols for higher end brands. Space NK usually have some more niche brands are always fun to look around. I hope you enjoy your London trip, but in the meantime you have plenty to try/play with right there. Best wishes.
Croatia doesn't have make up brands, we import everything at the highest shipping rates in the EU, we pay 25% VAT and are miserable. We do have some skincare though, but I prefer Slovenian Afrodita (really nice moisturizers, Q10 is good, their anti age creams are staple in my house (with Vichy, Eucerin & Bioderma), I adore their sleep-in masks, the purple one is fantastic.). Serbia has a makeup brand: Aura. I have their eye primer and a face powder, not bad at all.
I love this!! I’m so excited for you to try all the new foundations!! Have you tried Wet n Wild tinted hydrator?? It’s really great! I hope they have a shade to match you. I also hope you can find the newest L’Oréal foundation - it’s beautiful!! Oh I’d also love to see a full face of Kiko Milano if you haven’t yet! I want to try that hydrating foundation from them you mentioned I’ve never seen it on their website before.
I haven't yet bought that. But it was tipped a lot by other commenters and I have found a place that sells it. So by the time I do that roundup video, I will be able to include it as well as the L'Oreal.
I've really dry fair skin with a warm undertone. Elf cc cream looked very bad on me. I really like the L'oreal nude plumping serum foundation, wet n wild tinted hydrator, colourpop pretty fresh tinted moisturizer. Maybe you can try the L'oreal serum foundation (it's mostly a lot cheaper on bol or zalando)
Eveline is available in my country and I've seen countless great reviews of their Wonder Match foundation. Also, I've heard good things about their pressed powder (Art Makeup anti-shine something) and concelaers.
Very informative video! And thanks for picking up on my suggestion to try Eveline for us! I have a few of your picks and would agree on your ranking - except for The Ordinary one, which oddly never worked for me bc it made my skin cakey (and I just cannot find the right shade either). FYI: LYKO is based in Sweden, Lumene is Finnish, and Ex1 is a UK based brand that caters particularly to olive skin tones (but of course also to other ones).
hi I'm from the UK and I've noticed superdrug was the only place that sold flowerbeauty and they no longer are selling the brand, such a shame they only got a tiny bit of old stock left. I love flowerbeauty makeup but now no longer get in uk xx
Lumene is Finnish and in Finnish you pronounce all the letters of the word, also the last e, so the words are read just as they are written. It started in 1970 and has been the market leader in Finland since 1973, so many of us grew up with our mothers using Lumene. From them I would have probably recommended to you the Instant Glow Fresh Skin Tint, which is like a tinted moisturiser but in a more like gel formulation and with skincare benefits. It's a bit too light a coverage for me and I don't really need the skincare elements (I have a normal to oily, blemish prone skin) but I have heard many people praising it who like how natural it looks and feels ("natural look" isn't my style, either). There is also the Instant Glow Beauty Serum and Instant Glow UV Primer SPF30 that might interest you (along with the other face products in that "Instant Illumination" line, like the liquid blush and bronzer). I haven't tested them because I have enough glow already during summer and I rarely have a skin that doesn't need more coverage. Also the CC Cream has been a favourite of many for an everyday makeup. I also like their skincare products, like the oil-cocktails and serums. (Their own site also often has many deals and sales, like now -30% off from some products, so that's one way to buy them.)
Hi thanks for the info! I am not sure I have access to their full range. This is just what I was able to find,, but it's great to hear they are a staple in many Finnish makeup bags.
I forgot to mention two brands I really like for foundation: IDUN Minerals (Swedish brand) and Lily Lolo (UK brand) Both do very skin-like, nice foundations/tinted moisturizers with clean ingredients. IDUNs is around the 25 Euro mark, but is often discounted at e.g. the LYKO site.
That's an excelent idea (to try all of those drugstore foundations). Thank you for doing that . Eveline cosmetics is available in my country and they have pretty good products (I have never tried the foundations from them tbh, but blush, nailpolish, and highlihter are great 😊).
Have you considered buying a white foundation mixer to get a better match? I see that on Amazon UK (if they ship to NL) they sell the LA Girl one we have here in the US and I can recommend that one.
As I explained below, I tried that years ago (both white drops and that LA Girl foundation) and it just didn't work for me as you can't change the undertone. I usually also struggled getting the proportions right and still ended up with a wrong shade as a result. And as someone else pointed out: it messes with the formula and consistency of the original foundation. Too much effort if you have foundations that do work without adding white.
Hi just wanted to let you know flower beauty is no longer for sale in superdrug. You could try technic foundation or body collection england both from wilkos in UK. Loved this foundation selectio.
@@FloatinginDreams Sorry its only online now. Try natural collection foundation from boots or collection from either superdrug or boots. Hope this helps you to choose when you visit.
They often do a super fast order online, collect in store service too - and if you end up unable to pick up the order after all, they'll refund you after 10 days. Might be worth doing to make sure of getting what you want.
Yes I know Flower Beauty is in Superdrug. Since I'll be in London and I know which superdrug to go to I am sure I can find the stire with the biggest selection.
Eveline is very affordable and easily accessible in my countrie. That Wonder Match foundation is very hyped up, actually two of my friends have it and both are very pleased with it, I didn't get it because of the shade range we got, everything seems a bit dark for me. I believe Eveline is coming out with the glowy version as well. But I swear by their Anti fatigue undereye concealer, it's looking so fresh under the eyes and has a solid coverage. For example, I'm not a very big fan of Catrice Camouflage concealer because it looks very dry under my eyes. This Eveline one is way more hydrating. Considering it's very affordable, I'd say try it. :) although I'm not sure about the shade range.
Lumene is a Finnish brand and I used to love them. They are to dark for me though. I read someone recommend you to try IsaDora and they are quite dark I’m afraid
Hey Maaike! I hope the renovations went well! I used to wear the Garnier BB cream. I remember really liking the way it sat on my skin, but it was always a little too dark for me and I also think it oxidized. Have you ever tried it? I was thinking of trying to find a tester, to see if the reformulated version works better on my fair skin.
I think I tried that waaaay back in the day, but didn't like it. Too dark and very orange on my fair skin. I could be wrong though. This first launched when I wasn't wearing foundation much yet so I may misremember. I wasn't even aware this was relaunched. EDIT: I just found out I did try it back in 2011 and loved it apparently, save for the fragrance. In case you're curious, there is a very old school review up on the blog if you search for Garnier BB cream.
I haven't tried it yet, I only just got these in. I am currently working on going through all the new bits. Video review won't be up until November/ December at the earliest. But I am always writing dedicated product reviews on my blog when and if I review stuff. If you want to stay up to date with what I am currently trying out, I would like to advise you to watch my Shop My Stash videos as there I am showing all the products I am using in a given month. Since I like to give products a real chance I try a foundation for 1 - 2 weeks before reviewing it, so it is going to be a while until I have tried all of these.
I was going to recommend the Glamshop Illuminating foundation, but their shade range is very limited and I don't believe it comes in your shade😢 For the people with an olive undertone however there are options.
Fab informative video thank u...I really enjoy trying new foundations. I have some recommendations for your to take a peek at that I think u might enjoy. Missha cushion foundation 50 spf : Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 : Profusion Feel Good Skin SPF 15 : Lastly Sheglam Balm. I always use a good SPF b 4 foundation application and the one u recommended to us, La Roche-Posay SPF, is brilliant under foundation and also the Beauty Bay SPF 50 is fab too. I to like my summer foundation to have an extra boost of SPF and I reapply every 2 hours, if outside, with Garnier Ambre Solaire Over Makeup Super UV Spf 50....this is a spray and works the best of the handful of over makeup reapplication of SPF, I have tried since I started to wear my makeup again, a year ago, after a 30 year break! lol x Please let me know if u try any of my recommendations and I'm happy for u to name and shame me in your videos! lol Happy sunny Sunday lovely lady. I have a silly question, 🤔. If you struggle that much finding fair foundations, why don't you use a white foundation/drops in order to light your favourite darker foundations that do not exist in lighter tones? You never mention those products. I have also neutral undertone + dry skin and despite in winter I am pretty fair and in summer I am pretty tan, I can always use the same foundation in winter and summer just mixing/adding white drops into my foundation during winter. I use "L.A GIRL Pro Coverage Illuminating White-Lightener" and it doesn't change the finish/formula of my foundations (all of them are dewy). In my opinion I find that it is oil based and it has a dewy finish that I love because I have dry skin. Maybe you could try more foundations and adapt them to your tone with this product or something similar, 😃. Thanks for your videos, 😌😘!!
I've done that before but the drops can often change the formula/coverage of the original foundation and it just isn't the same - sometimes works out though!
I used to have an LA Girl white foundation for this purpose. I struggled getting the right shade still as a white foundation only lightens but doesn't change the undertone. Most drugstore foundations aren't just too dark they are also too yellow. Plus I find getting the shade right too difficult. I would always end up with too light or still too dark a foundation as each day I would have to get the perfect blend to get my shade match. Not worth the hassle if you have so many foundations that just work.
Lumene is from Finland 🙂
If you are bying from Lyko again, try the swedish brand Isadora. They have my absolut favorite foundation, Isadora active all day wear. Its the best

The L'Oreal foundation is not sold in the lightest shade in my country. Here it starts at shade 2-3 and it retails for €25 which I found shocking.
