Justin look at the rocker arm trunion on the intake on#8 and the intake rocker on #6 the stud has either pulled out or its way out of adjustment, CHECK THIS BEFORE SAYING ITS THE CAMSHAFT.
The intake valve may be not opening, looks like no fuel is getting to it! Also set timing to 6-8 degrees at your altitude! Said that before I seen you didn’t have spark I was correct originally, you will need a new cam and lifters, cam lobe has worn down, when you put new cam use Zinc motor oil those chevy cams need it
Was that oil on some of those plugs or was the just fowl? Hard to tell on video. Timing is off. It should not backfire through those carbs like that. What worries me is if it is timing and your adjusting the distributor with not much change, you could have a flat cam lobe. It’s hard to tell through a video and I really hope it isn’t. But that would cause the back plug not to fire, and cause your timing issues. When you get time do a leak down test on each cylinder. I’m not sure what it would be at, 135ish maybe, not sure but make sure of consistency.
Before you do anything else run a dry and wet compression test on every cylinder. You're wasting time and money fooling with carbs, plugs, wires, caps and distributors if the internals are bad. A scope would be a good idea to see the inside of the cylinders. You didn't build the motor so you have no idea what's in it. You cannot believe what you were told about it. Hot rods are risky investments.
I'd start with a compression check and go from there with the blower off I'd reseal the intake manifold check valve lash it's kind of hard to make a determinations when you don't know what internals you have.
@@3BBgarage I'm sure it flattened the cam lobes, at least now you can have a cam you know the specs on, it could have metal in oil pan depending on how to tore up the cam and lifters are. Myself I'd pull it apart and see what pistons and rods and make sure what I'm working with I'm funny like that I like to know that my rings are gapped right especially running boost.

Engine needs a full tear down unfortunately. If the cam is whipped out no telling where all that metal went. Rod and mains should be checked. Like others are saying a compression test would be good to do but I'd be pulling that engine out and going through it just for my own piece of mind.
Also if you do tear it down might as well go with a roller cam and lifters. Today's oil's do not have the additives for flat tappets. If you stick with a flat tappet came run ZDDP oil additive or run VR1 or Lucas Hot Rod & Classic motor oil. I run that in all my cars with flat tappets.
Jesse said just completely rebuilt the motor. I had to drive the Chevelle Malibu home. Cause he would get home late from doing local loads. So I had Justina pick me up and take me to the yard. Got the keys and went to start the Chevelle. The starter just spins and I was like oh hell no your not doing this to me. Turned it again and starter again spins. A mechanic comes and looks underneath the motor and said hang on don't touch anything. He spins the flywheel to spin the motor. He goes the flywheel needs to be replaced and I was like no wonder Jesse mentioned that before. Mechanic was able to get it set where it would connect to the starter. He said try to start it. I did and it started and I was like thank god. Got it home and texted Jesse and he calls me and said I figured it would do that. He had Nathan go get a flywheel. And Jesse got home and changed clothes and we had to go to church and got back and Nathan and Jesse and Cash.. Justin was working finishing up a yard. And they changed out the flywheel and it started up and Mr's Daisy was like what was wrong with it and Jesse said flywheel. He's installing new better headlights and she was like hell I don't have to use brights anymore low beams are bright. He said hopefully u can figure out what's wrong with it. He said u should get a timing light.
@@3BBgarage a driver brought him home. And Justin got the flywheel and Jesse will install it later this evening. I had to get documents for the new owners that brought the building I had my barbershop in. Just got tires of people talking about people. I posted why I shut it down and people were sad. I will still do the neighborhood kids hair and friends. I will do that in the back deck. Jesse is asleep and Echo (one of the cat's) is laying on his neck purring and Jesse's out.
Hydraulic lifters can stick. You can spin oil the pump drive clockwise and see if they try to pump up before dissembling. If you could use any help let me know.
Probably cam. Flat tappet lifters need zddp additives added to the oil. Newer engines usually use roller cam and lifters which have less friction constraints. Oil manufacturers stopped adding the zinc additives to follow suit. I had an eldebrock cam in my square body the ate a lobe on my cam. But also could be a collapsed lifter
Justin, if u want to do it right, since u are taking the blower off anyway to look at distributor, I would replace old spark plug wires with new ones. Maybe even the cap..
Drain the oil use a paper paint filter to check for metal in the oil it has a screen on the end of it sorry to see the problem already. Use the best oil when u get it right
Justin, keep the spark plug gap at .020. The tighter the gap the stronger the spark. You run the risk of blowing the spark out with boost running then any larger.
Tank going to be your side kick as he’s interested in whatever project your doing as he always wants to go with you to do loads he’s enjoying his last of freedom before he goes to school in August
might want to check the compression on that cylinder also Justin the motor sounded like it had a little Gallup in it and with the lifter acting that way I would almost say the cam has a worn out lobe
@@3BBgaragewatching the video on slow speed you can see the problem with the valves. Go look at it close, the rocker arms are supposed to pivot on the center studs. The next to last one is going up and down on the stud. So either the rocker arm is damaged or the stud has pulled loose from the head.
I’m glad to see you and the 3BB getting to work on the Camaro sorry to see it’s going to be more involved than you thought before but it’s going to be a piece of mind to know everything is in tip top condition for the cruising around town!!! Hopefully it won’t be anything serious!!!

Use a closed end wrench to remove spark plugs from behind header tubes
Tried that wouldn’t bite 🤔
Unfortunate, but you get her figured out!
Bore scope that clean cylinder to see if you have a head gasket leak
You can see that rocker arm flexing back and forth when the lifter applies pressure on it. It just flexes but the valve isnt doing anything.

I remember that guy from the carb shop. He came into Carolina Driveline last year. Told him I was really happy with the work they did on Edna
Defintiley got some timing issues, that hard crank when you go to start it isnt helping the case. And that cam issue is a bummer!

You're not going to get any spark checking a plug like that. Need ground.. also with a power adder you want a tighter gap on the plugs
