I could feel that. I’ve watched A Hard Day’s Night 200 times since I first saw it in 1964; I’m 73 now. If it’s the last thing I ever see before I leave this world, and my grandchildren are watching it with me, I’ll die happy.
Probably because it had such potential to be really interesting and pose some seriously interesting questions but that got lost in favour of quite a boring story. Sure a film full of Beatles music, even covers, is great- as was the John Lennon bit- but it’s been done better (see Across the Universe) but it had so much potential to be more than just a romcom! There was a sci-fi aspect that’s never explained or explored (not really necessary but still) not to mention a whole host of deeper philosophical debates that could’ve been had here! But the writers went with the simple idea that the Beatles music is great regardless of when or how it came out and who was singing it…but I’m not sure that’s entirely true. There’s a whole Salieri Vs Mozart idea that could’ve been explored….

Ob la di ob la da is a perfect closure to the movie, since he finally realizes after all the glamour and fame that the only thing that truly matters to him is his love. Even as life goes on, he isn’t afraid or lost, because his life is moving on with her.
I loved this movie and I saw the Beatles live in Toronto in 1964. I watch this movie every chance I get as it is a nice twist on Beatlemania that swept the world. I am in my 70th year and love all the music of my generation as I know they will never be an era of such great music like that again. Peace, sisters and brothers.
Unpopular opinion: I actually liked this movie. The only thing I wish is that they showed the real Paul and Ringo and that they showed George too. And that they played more Beatles songs.
This movie was not a concert record. Nineteen Beatles' songs were sampled to carry the story line through the movie. That's a lot. Done ever so slightly differently, this could have been a terrible movie. But it wasn't. Hemel's version of 'Yesterday' is becoming my favorite rendition.
The movie and its central premise (a world without the Beatles having existed) was incredible and amazingly revealing ..... to me, the Beatles' music is like drinking from the Fountain of Youth --- their special gift to their (our) generation
Wonderful movie. Shows a great "what if" scenario of life, and the world, without the Beatles. One of the best things other than the music is Lily James. She made the perfect buddy to love interest that we all should have.
What a pity the exclusion of Ana de Armas´s scene in the talk show with the song Something as soundtrack, It would be one of the best in the whole movie. Wonderful scene that I always revisit

While watching the John Lennon scene I started crying. I was recalling that night my freshman year in college, watching MNF, Howard Cosell made the devastating announcement that Lennon had been murdered. I’m glad that scene wasn’t cut. I still miss John Lennon.
I love this movie and I am not a Beatles super fan in particular. I enjoy their songs, recognize their cultural significance but after seeing this movie I like them a lot more. I really enjoyed the fun romance part and Jack’s wholesomeness.

This actor has the perfect voice to pull of singing The Beatles. There were a lot of ways the main character could have been cast wrong but he nailed it out of the park. I’m surprised people didn’t freak out and call him a communist sympathizer over Back in the USSR lol, very different context today. Also “she was just seventeen” definitely wouldn’t fly today either

I was never a great fan of The Beatles Obladi-Oblada but using it at the end of the film to tell the rest of their story was perfect. Performing in front of a school of kids who started to sing along just added to the impact of this film.
This montage (and the movie Yesterday itself) brought me back to all those magic moments of the first time i heard these Beatles songs ---- on 45rmp records, Albums, on AM Radio WBZ (Boston) - which came to be known to us as W"BEATLE"Z ..... They were the musical equivalent of the "O"
I really liked the movie. I thought he did an excellent job singing their songs which was no easy task. I know it’s just a movie and fiction but I got an incredibly sad lost feeling at the thought of The Beatles never existing.

Coincidentally, we will see the Beatles this weekend. Not the real ones, of course, but a cover band. Sorry - TRIBUTE band! I'm sure it will be fun... once I get used to the 'not quite right' faces. The only time I tried to see the Beatles was in 66, when they played at the stadium. A group of us proto-hippies spent the night outside the entrance. At 2am, two carloads of toughs drove towards the maybe 20 people and jumped out. Some had chains. I was foolish enough to stay behind and help some guy protect his new Jeep. We got slammed as he tried to unlock his car. I slumped against the car to make a smaller target for the maybe 8 creeps. There were too many to really get to me, but I got a bad kick in the knee. The cops saw the whole thing and did nothing. Some of us went off to the Sheraton to 'find the Beatles.' All we got was chased by security a few times. 4 of us, 2 guys, 2 girls, held up in a women's bathroom for most of the night, and had a great time. In the morning, my knee was swollen and sore. I hopped on the bus back to the suburbs and survived for the next fun moment. Being 17 had its benefits!
Sorry, I failed... not to sing...😄 "Help me" performance was some kind of magic! Great music, great acting! I hope for a multiple hours version with many more songs 😉😃👍
I wasn't a Beatles fan in my youth. They were good and I always recognized their importance, but I preferred the Rolling Stones and the Who. But when I saw this movie, it made me realize their emotional impact on the world in a way I never had before. Now I like The Long and Winding Road much more than I once did.
When he was driving down that road, I got so excited because I knew it was Lennon. Embarrassed myself in the packed theatre on opening night by shouting out before it happened. I definitely was glad not to have been wrong 😅.
In '64 I was 9 yrs old and saw the Beatles at the Cow Palace with my oldest sister and cousin because my sister won 4 tickets to see them on radio station KYA. Saw them again in '65. I really didn't follow them so much through the years but this movie brings back such great memories that I listen to them again a lot more now. Great movie!! And it's not an unpopular opinion if this movie is liked. Everyone has their own tastes, just like they have their own @$$es.
Ok, so I started singing "Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da life goes on, ohhhh..." Then I read the first 4 words of this video. Fail. These songs are still infectious to the very day 🙂
My thought is... What if they were German, and didn't speak English? And don't forget - it wasn't just their words and music. They changed the course of rock and roll! And unless you were a teen back then, you wouldn't understand how they changed things.

I was born in 1992, long after the Beatles broke up. The Beatles are my favorite band of all time. Every song is a masterpiece. They were the best.

great movie! i guess it asks the question: would the songs we love be as popular if someone besides the beatles wrote them?
My thought is... What if they were German, and didn't speak English?
And don't forget - it wasn't just their words and music. They changed the course of rock and roll! And unless you were a teen back then, you wouldn't understand how they changed things.
