Mechs vs minions is one of the worst game mechanic wise. The production is beyond amazing, but the gameplay is so lacking that I sold it immediately after 2 plays
KDM: There's literally no competition for it other than Aeon's Trespass after all these years. They've added an entire expansion that's larger than the base game. Bro..
Love Cthulhu Death May Die - my number one game of all time, appreciating it's theme and modularity, tile assembly frustrations aside. I guess the only one I would consider a "bump" in the list would be Aeons End, personally choosing (what is consider to be) is OG: Thunderstone Quest. That said, given the wider context, I can understand why it didn't make the cut on the basis you need both the core box and barricades box to truly play co-op/solo but consider it a phenomenal game and another I appreciate the continually growing variety to ❤

It didn’t make the cut for BGG but I would have more me I think
My top coop games are Spirit Island and all Pandemic Legacies (technically, I rated Scythe: Fenris a 10, too, but not for the coop mode), followed by Tidal Blades 2, different versions of Aeon's End, and then Gloomhaven: JotL, Dead Reckoning, and Frostpunk. I suspect that Frosthaven (and maybe Gloomhaven), Voidfall, and Tindaya might also have a chance of ending up in one of those rating categories (8.5+/10), but I haven't played them enough. The Emerald Flame is a 9 for me (and I expect that other PostCurious games will be similar), but this feels like a different game category. I'm also very curious about the coop modes for Concordia, Viticulture, Lost Ruins of Arnak, and Orléans. The most unique ones of the ones I've rated an 8 are probably The LOOP and Paint the Roses.

I love the Loop. If this was my own personal list, it'd be easily top 5
All these games that I have also played (SI, GH, AE), I agree with, which means I need to play Pandemic Legacy soon (on my shelf). Loving Tidal Blades 2 right now, so good! And Emerald Flame is a wonderful puzzle game I'm playing with my with.
Frost/Gloomhaven: I don't understand the negative about setup. You need to be a little creative in putting it away, having your next game in mind - not just sort everything in the box, neatly stored away as if forever. Also, I never punch out and sort everything before the first play, I don't have that sort of time. I just punch out whatever I need for the first/next scenario (talking about all games here, Tidal Blades 2, Primal, AT:O, Oathsworn...). Setup with two+ players becomes a breeze. We can setup GH in 5 minutes with 2 practiced players.
My current favourite coops (f* BGG): Marvel United, Spirit Island, Daybreak, Aeon's End and Astro Knights. My current favourite coop campaign games: Aeon Trespass, Tidal Blades 2, Gloomhaven, Oathsworn, Aeon's End Legacy. A dozen campaign games waiting on the shelf :P
Ignoring the top 25 stipulation my list would be: 1) Marvel champions 2) The Loop 3) Slay the Spire 4) Tidal Blades 2 (replacing Gloomhaven JotL) 5) Dead men tell no tales (basically pandemic but pirate themed) I really enjoyed Aeon’s End over the years but the collection became such an overwhelming mess of stuff I’ve had no motivation to organize it and set it up again. Some fun “totally different” coops for me are Just One/So Clover, Roll Camera, Project Elite. Really looking forward to Grimcoven and DC united in 2025 (hopefully…)
So kudos to your top 3 coop as they are both in my top ten overall. Now, I do have to take aim at your comment about destroying pandemic se1, as I was a huge nerd and save every bit of info, every little sticker, and restored them back into their original form. I did it, it’s true! In hope that someday my kids will be interested and I would have then forgotten everything and will be able to experience it again, for the first time…..will it happen or not? Now I have big box on the shelf that I wish wasn’t
Spirit island, arkham horror LCG, Sentinels of the multiverse, the loop and Too many bones for me. I thought I'd love CDMD but i actually thought it was such a shallow experience.
I don’t know what you mean, Mage Knight has the best rule book to learn from: Ricky Royal! (You mean it included something else? Never noticed it…) Seriously, MK owes a serious debt to him for allowing others to learn the game despite the horrible rule book.
Cool video. I like your emphasis on accessibility. Surprised not to see any Zombicide entries on the list. Not saying it should be top 5, but they’re super accessible especially considering only one person needs to automate the zombies.
Oops of course, it’s literally in the title of the video lol. I’m a little surprised that not one Zombicide was able to crack the BGG top 25 co-op games.
Normally I see a lot of biased crap in tier lists, rankings and so on. Also, a weird interpretation of what makes a good game. Still, I agree with Cthulhu Death May Die being put anywhere in top 10 due to very simple reason - accessibility and fun factor. I was able to introduce about 10 different people to board games as a hobby thanks to CDMD. Everyone enjoyed it because rules are not overbloated, a lot of things are streamlined and the theme is a curiosity for a lot of folks. Hell, even my father, a dude that is about to strike 60 this week and only ever played monopoly-like games decades ago, reconsidered his opinion on board games being "a boring thing just for kids". Game has little to none negative interaction (being mostly insanity based triggers out of players control). Once you know the rules, then teaching anyone new is almost an example of how to streamline the process. It is randomly punishing but most people expect it from a board game and you have ways to react/mitigate some of it...which is fun for quick thinkers. It simply checks out all the boxes and while there are better designed games, this is just the case of doing the most things "just right" :D
My top 3 cooperative games are all in my top 10 of all time: 1- Return to the Dark Tower 2- Cthulhu DMD 3- Project Elite
Good choices!
Project Elite is astonishing!
Same for me! But spirit island at 1, tower 2 DMD 3
Nice!
My top 4 coop games (and my top 4 overall games):
1. Spirit Island
2. The Crew
3. Marvel Champions
4. Gloomhaven
Nice choices!
mechs vs minions is so good. Sad the chatter on it died down
With Arcane s2 being a banger too, there might be some noise again
The ability to obtain it has hurt it i think at times for sure
Mechs vs minions is one of the worst game mechanic wise. The production is beyond amazing, but the gameplay is so lacking that I sold it immediately after 2 plays
True enough
@@DuelingMarui respect your wrong opinion
Great list!
Thanks!

I wish they had a standee version for people that want to play the game but don’t want to deal with the hassle of assembling minis
Yup played it. Own it. Just like some people dont like dune imperium or brass. to each their own flavor.
Amazing sort ❤
lol. Not everyone thinks so!

Thanks for the video, this list is great.

Nice List. Suggest playing return to dark tower if you haven’t and enjoy a fantasy setting.
i have. a great game for someone else in the game group to own!

The Loop!!! love that

fair!
I'll fight you to say you're right. Spirit Island is the best.
What about that Leviathan game you like?
Not my personal list. BGG reranked
I've not an interest in most of these twenty-five. _Spirit Island_ is a no-brainer for No.1, & _The Crew_ (either version) is fun for No.2.
Spirit island, arkham horror LCG, Sentinels of the multiverse, the loop and Too many bones for me.
I thought I'd love CDMD but i actually thought it was such a shallow experience.

It’s a crime that Marvel United and Return to Dark Tower are not on this list.
agreed. bgg is wack sometimes
no daybreak?
BGG's ranking's not mine!
oh yeah im stupid haha
Marvel united is top 1 for me.
Completely agree
top 5 easily for me. BGG disagrees it seems
No Aeon Trespass?
BGG's rankings not mine!
Cool video. I like your emphasis on accessibility.

That's because he is rearranging the Top 25 on BGG; the first Zombicide is on 48.
Like m.schwarz said, this is the BGG not me!
Oops of course, it’s literally in the title of the video lol.
I’m a little surprised that not one Zombicide was able to crack the BGG top 25 co-op games.
It’s hard to take these lists seriously when there are so many repeats.
I mean…it’s the BGG list, not me
Oh, that’s what I mean! lol, sorry! not you!!! You rock Chris haha 😂 I still enjoyed the video and your take on it. merry Christmas.
@Twineandribbon no worries!
Wonder what you think of LotR JiME
:)

weird interpretation = consistent with weird me
