Holy crap dude, your videos are wonderful. It is like watching an incredibly relaxing Skyrim nature special, and I can refer my friends who know nothing about modding to them. Really valuable.
For the DDragon mod matched with a few mods (Stronger shouts, up to 4 companions, get up faster) gave the dragons and the place of dragonborn a great deal of relevance. The mod has been improved immensely since this video. It almost has a DnD feel to me fighting the dragons. Even with the increased companions they are hard as hell to kill and a very real threat.
I gotta thank you for doing all these because people like me new to modding would be lost. Honestly i thought the game looked fine but ya opened my eyes a bit. Everything looks simpler than people made it out to be, but you show how to install it every time. Bravo sir you are delightful
@Plausiblesarge Out of curiosity any mods worth looking at that are SW only? I really find SW somewhat hard to navigate and the community somewhat ...... not sure how to put it politely ..... Let's just say that after 2 minutes on the SkyUI page reading the comments I could not stomach going back for a while. It made me appreciate the Nexus site so very very much.
I love your game play philosophy (making things more difficult and realistic). Also, I absolutely appreciate your how-to install the mods tutorials, here and elsewhere. Thank you!
its so brilliant how u convince me to download the shown mods every time i watch skyrim mod sanctuary. you definately have a talent in presenting things and making them "tasty", gopher. if u were a skyrim character your speechcraft would be maxed i guess xd thanks for that
@TheBosstrain Yeah it comes down to character build and how you level. I always play focused archetypal characters. I find that to be a lot more immersive, but it also scales very well compare to the jack of all trades character.
@Browncoat1984 The big problem with Realistic Lighting is the need to tweak you in game brightness AND you monitors brightness to get the best result. I found my monitor was set too bright and so in game I had to make it darker. This made dark places literally way too dark. But dropping the brightness and adjusting the contrast on my monitor I was able to increase in game brightness and get it looking as it does in the videos. However it is hard to how to do that in a video.
I love how that thalmor guy and Delphine are perfectly okay with each other while fighting a dragon. It makes me question the sanity of Imperials and Stormcloaks. Like, there's a giant, (almost) unkillable, flying, firebreathing lizards all across the land, and yet they continue to fight each other instead of uniting and helping dragonborn/the blades or smth like that.
the most awesome feature of deadly dragons is the assault feature where you can fight against up to 3 dragons AT THE SAME TIME and it is just so awesome if that happens, especially in a city where pretty much every guard dies lol. its one of the best mods ive seen by now
i thought these features sounded familiar -- turns out that PISE was the pre-cursor to the ASIS www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18436/ - which does the same things and more, with some neat new features added to the original concept such as the ability for npc's in world to make use of spells, armors and weapons that are added to the game via any installed mods' --- i remember on my recent play-threw using "live another life" - my level 1 Breton forsworn character was attacked by a random squad of vampires. they wrecked me in seconds, it was the funnest experience ever, i had no chance in hell to survive, even when going werewolf (moonlight tales essential version). the battle was short lived on my part but it certainly was glorious. Managed to kill one of them though before the other two drained me dry with their blood magic. - they actually used their bat form skills to dodge my attacks! loved it. even with my own ability to dodge also through the use of TK Dodge mod, they were able to switch up their style on the fly from melee to blood magic. it was just amazing watching two of them actually kite me around while they drained my life from my character while the third acted as the melee decoy to slow my chase. course that's the one i killed, but damn its amazing to see such AI tactics. And on a previous file i had already started when installing ASIS, i encountered some random mages in riften that actually made use of the Spell Charging & Spell Chaining mods i have installed (two modes that are the successors to the previously named "spell combo" mod) while they were helping the guards kill off a hord of vampires attacking at night. damn was i surprised when one of the mages actually used the Internal combustion spell combo on Master Vampire. i had forgotten i had the mod installed so it caught me off guard when the explosion occurred. watching the Vampire explode in a burst of flames made my night to say the least of things. and with the fire and ice overhaul on, some flames were left on the ground where the body had been, which then proceeded to catch a few more vampires on fire as they walked threw it' good times! so needless to say yeah, if your still playing skyrim Gopher you should probably go give the updated version a look over. i doubt you'll be disappointed.
This was AWESOME! I have deadly dragons installed, but i didn't Know that it had updated, so thanks for the info! I also looked at PISE a while back, but i didn't quite like it, but you have convinced me into giving it another shot!
@hurrdurrmurrgurr Apparently there is a bug that stops them spawning. And a fix for it is to sleep for 30 days and they will start re-spawning :) Not had the problem so I cannot confirm that.
Guys just for the record I am unlikely to use mods on the Steam Workshop. I do not recommend using multiple mod managers as one will not know what the other has installed and where. I also do not like being unable to download the mod and looking at it before installing it.
@landon962 I think I will be sticking with NMM where possible. Well actually even if you decide to use SW you have to use something like NMM or Wyre bash for load order anyway. And it looks like I wont be uploading videos to Steam either due to privacy issues. Even with a private profile, there is no way to hide whatever gaming handle you are playing under at that instant.
My understanding of why higher level dragons don't appear until your character is higher level is because the dragons don't feel threatened by you until you're high level. When you're level 50, normal dragons will stay away from you because they don't want to die, while Legendary dragons try to hunt you down because they feel threatened by your presence.
There is so much right with Deadly Dragons. It is now one of my essential mods. It seems to make all the shouts that were useless useful, and you'l find yourself not using Dragon-rend all the time. It's great.
I have to use it against high leveled dragons on the Xbox because I only use the legendary difficulty to battle dragons. I have to use dragonrend a lot more often I think it's great :)
@ThePeskyOnion With great difficulty. Hex editing, and some other third-party programs... not a cakewalk. I'm really impressed with what modders came up with before the CK.
If you have Deadly Dragons enabled with any difficulty enhancing mod, such as PISE or ASIS, the dragons are DRASTICALLY more violent, strong, plentiful, and all around more difficult with an ungodly amount of spawns. The author of the mod noticed this and put down instructions on how to fix it. It's in the description.
@crazyjackaljones Then deadly dragons isn't for you because they will kill an entire village before you take them out sometimes. Its not so bad if you use it in conjunction with the Wars In Skyrim mod, because that mod adds a lot more random npc battle encounters. So there will usually be more targets on the ground for the dragons to attack and they won't be focused on one thing. Most importantly they won't be focused on you, unless you're the only one around.
@Browncoat1984 Oh I am not saying you cannot do it. What I am saying is you add a potential point of failure that may cause trouble sometime down the line. Perhaps I should a video on the risks of using two mod managers. It may be easier to show what can happen than describe in 500 characters :)
@TheBosstrain For me master difficulty is still too easy, especially once I get past about lvl 25. And even with these mods once I get past about lvl 40 I find myself not really having to focus. It probably means I play these games way too much or something :)
In its old Nordic form it definately is a hard 'k', and in its various Germanic forms I believe it was similar to the 'ch' in modern german. For me it is always strange hearing the word said with a soft 'ch'. Sounds like something found clinging the the bottom of a ship :)
Experience and adventure are not 'creatures' :) I said that dragons were the signature creature. And yeah the signature of the game is not the dragons, it is either FUS RO DAH or the other bloody meme that shall never be mentioned .....
@kebubas I did the same after my first 'half playthrough experiment'. Specializing definately seems to work well and feel better in this game than previous TES games.
@GophersVids yes and it kinda sounds logical that if I specialize as a pyromage to have a disadvantage against fire-based enemies but still it hurts my brain to think that there is no perk that would make your fire damage bypass some fire resistance
I really like the idea of Deadly Dragons and it really emphasises the need for a Dragonborn but my hesitation for using it comes from the fact in that even in Vanilla, Riverbed was left a dead village (aside from the children) because of dragons continually attacking it, when I came by and I'm sure DD will just leave a wake of dead cities and villages, especially if I was to use an "Open Cities" mod down the line.
I actually meant a "?" right after "too hard", because they are quite easy if you know how to handle them. A single tree can make you unkillable. Generally, the walls of shouts are always surrounded with towers or pillars so you can hide behind easily. In vanilla Skyrim, a duo-cast bolt with impact stun the dragon, so with enough mana potions, you can kill any enemy (include dragon priest and dragons). 100% mana reduct = GG. That is when you are a mage and play vanilla :D
@Zolfried I was going to ask the same thing about Wars in Skyrim IV. I haven't seen it mentioned in any of his videos. I know WIS IV works with deadly dragons because I have them both installed. I don't think it'll work with PISE.... just seems like they'll conflict. I'll definitely try it out though.
All those mods are compatible. In fact, Deadly Dragons and ACE are two of the recommended mods to use with Dragon Combat Overhaul. It's all in the description on Nexus.
Raven 19888, he speaks the truth. When the Old Norse and other Scandinavians (including us Finlander's) invaded and completely conquered England, they brought in the more harsh "sk" words (such as sky, scape, scandinavian, etc). These words and sounds were incorporated into the english language over 250 years. I don't know for certain if dracolich has a harsh "k" sound, but it wouldn't surprise me if this were correct.
I use the deadly dragons mod with all the perks. The part about the armor being pre enchanted can be circumvented with the smelter. You trade the armor pieces and some gold for unenchanted version of the gear.
It could also be something beyond our understanding. Since Alduin has to bring them all back to life, it could be that Alduin has to have a certain amount of strength to be able to bring stronger dragons back to life and he hasn't been back long enough to be that strong. We do witness him bringing one back to life, it's kind of foolish to assume that he brought them all back to life instantly after coming back and attacking Helgen.
I have a character that I've been building for a long while to be an unstoppable deathmachine. He's a Nord, currently at lvl 81, and stuck on 2/3 of the lvl bar to lvl 82 (not leveling up anymore when I kill enemies or when I do quests), I leveled up every single skill tree to 100 and got almost all perks I wanted, and every enemy is a pushover, even the dragons. I'm playing on Master difficulty, since I'm an old school gamer who loves a challenge, so DD makes Dragon fights a lot more epic :D
I think that the Dragon armor that you can make from the Deadly Dragons mod is kind off a mini easter egg, or atleast a reference, because it basically has the same name as some World of Warcraft armor, Relentless, Deadly, Furious etc.
@GophersVids I would be for sure because one thing is to play an orc that beats people in the face with a mace and another thing is to play a mage that has to think about magicka and hp managment ... plus, I usually try to specialize my chars because when I scatter my skills in all three classes I overlevel very fast... I mean leveling up pickpocket, enchantment, alchemy, light armor, one-hand and two-hand weapons, sneak, archery is hard as it is, even more so if you become jack of all trades...
@TheCanalsofOurCity Yes you can, and when it happens might I suggest running away as fast as you able whilst sticking to cover? :) Later on when you are more badass it is nice to get your own back on them for all the times they humiliated you.
@GophersVids Haha, alright, thanks for the reply (on both videos.) Keep up the great work, by the way. I've yet to see any mod reviews that reach quite the quality and effort of yours.
Gopher, have you tried the Wrye Bash mod manager? If not, you should absolutely do so, because it even allows you to choose load order on texture packs!
@Axeface1 I read somewhere that there were a couple of dragons that were being nerfed in the new version (still a beta), but I can't find that info any more.
I recently started a new game with Immediate Dragons, Deadly Dragons and a little mod called "You are not the Dragonborn". Basicly I hauled ass to Whiterun, went to Winterhold, and suddenly theres a dragon. I had no way to stop it, it was terrifying and ended up killing most of the guards and the villagers who stayed outside before it got bored and went elsewhere.
One thing I did not like about PISE(actually the only thing I dont like) : Dragons are now deleveled but weighted. There's chances for any dragon to spawn from any level, but the chances of higher level dragons gets progressively higher as you increase in level. This will mean less difficulty at >level 45, but more difficulty at lower levels. Good with a slower leveling mod. Dragons should always be tough
Gopher, have you tried these mods with Wars in Skyrim IV?.. especially thinking about dark age version of it then. i cant imagine a greater challenge then that.. especially not if they work properly together, i havent tried yet so cant say for sure if they work together...
@GophersVids Hey Gophers, I have a question for you. I'm a bit confused. I installed a mod called Crafting 300 but now it's messing with another mod I'm using & that isn't making me a bit too happy so I uinstalled it, right? Now guards in cities don't have weapons... If I kill them. Will they spawn back with weapons?
All three dragon mods + skyre + deadly combat + open cities mod + immersive first person + non essential npcs makes dragon attacks on cities devastating..............And awesome.
Christ J I use deadly dragons simply because it allows me to directly buff dragons health, melee and magic damage to a difficulty that is synergistic with deadly combat, a mod that also allows me to control damage (which I set to max as for me vanilla skyrim is very slow in combat) Without Deadly dragons raised stats dragon fights are far too short because of increased weapon damage. Either way it makes dragons something that can truly be feared, being able to destroy half a city without intervention from the player. On a side note your comment was removed as spam for some reason?
Also, once you get past level 60, you can walk out of a dungeon with an extra 20 pounds (or whatever the measurement is) and can sell these items for 10,000 gold in total. As an example, it took me approximately 2 hours to get nearl 87,000 gold.
The forsaken.. I'm reading the wheel of time at the moment. Haha. The deadly dragon mod makes the dragons like they are in Steven Eriksons malazan universe. They are like embodiments of magicka.
In short, for every gamer that wants a good challenge against Dragons in Skyrim on higher levels, I wholeheartedly recommend Deadly Dragons. :D I haven't tried PISE yet, but from the looks of it in this video, it must be fun to have as well :)
GUYS!! DOWNLOAD A MOD CALLED "MORE DRAGON LOOT" almost every time you kill a dragon with Deadly Dragons installed, you feel good after killing a really powerful dragon, but the loot is crap, you still only get a couple of bones, scales, and an item called a soul shard, get More Dragon Loot and itll add 1-4 random magical item drops, itll go great with the PISE mod because you hardly come across magical items, More Dragon loot will help compensate for this and makes killing dragons more rewarding
And also when I activated deadly dragons I did not receive any options to change any difficulties, or any options to go along with PISE. Sorry about all the questions, but I'm afraid of really screwing something up, because if I do, there is no way in hell I'm going to be able to fix it
Nearly every mod you have shown I have installed....no change here I goin gto get the Deadly dragons...can't wait to sh** myself when I hear a dragon roaring in the distance.
I was wondering should I or not use mod Deadly Dragons, since I allso found vanila ones are too easy once you get to higher levels. Thanks for covering that up. I realy appriciate your hard work.
I love the deadly dragon mod. I find myself wondering where all the dragons went =)). Can't find any more on the map. And it takes 5-10 seconds of constant hits to kill it now. Can't wait to try this out Thanks !!
I like to think that Alduin is restoring his power at a pace that rivals the Dragonborn's leveling, so with more power he can revive a stronger dragon. The only flaw to this theory is after you slay Alduin, dragons will still become stronger and stronger.
Akatosh: "Oh hey son, didn't know you were awake!" Alduin: "WOAH!...uh, hey dad.... Akatosh: "So, what have you been up to?" Alduin: "Uh, well, you know.....stuff." Akatosh: "....stuff?" [half an hour of increasingly awkward explanations later] Akatosh: "THATS IT THATS THE FINAL STRAW YOU GODDAMN UNGRATEFUL LITTLE LIZARD, I'm sending a Dragonborn - YES IM STILL DOING THAT SHUT UP IS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR MOTHER - and he's gonna shout some sense into you!!!!"
@phantomship I was level 42, with over 300 health. Like I said, shield raised, 20% Magic resist, 50% all resistances and it still killed me in literally 0.2 seconds.
It really is,... i also love epic fights,.. + skyrim very hardcore as even vanilla master is to weak after level 5. Great mods that i also def. am using. Funny to here you explain as it remembers me at myself how i think over the game. Great vid's.
I don't know about "leveled" dragons. When I first played the game, Ancient dragons were the ONLY dragons I ever fought, besides the one you encounter while exploring whiterun, I was playing on normal difficulty too. It freaking sucked.
Deadly Dragons didnt make 'dragons fights something to remember' for me, it made them something to forget, as in they never happened. Dragon comes along... I die. THATS IT. It was totally OTT in my opinion and designed for people that abuse every exploit they can get their hands on. My char had the shield raised resistance, one item with 20% magic resist, and 3 items with 50% resist of the rest of the elemental damage, and the ancient dragon I fought still killed me in a split second.
Just wondered, is this mod compatible with SkyRE? I imagine with the already increased combat difficulty of SkyRE this could be insanely difficult or make the dragons a little too overpowered.
Sorry to bother you, but I'm new to modding and not much of a techi, and I followed all of your instructions to the letter for making the pise zip folder (i didnt even touch the new ASIS beta of his, because i have no idea what im doing really) but when I went to the plug in list, the zip folder appeared as one plug in. Idk if it is because the newer version is different or if I screwed up somewhere...
I'm loving the weapons you're using in all of these videos, but I'm having a hard time finding which video the mod(s) came from, if you have made a video on them yet. Help? :)
Holy crap dude, your videos are wonderful. It is like watching an incredibly relaxing Skyrim nature special, and I can refer my friends who know nothing about modding to them. Really valuable.
"PISE, i will keep this mod forever"
-literally never uses it in his videos, ever.

that made me smile
@crazyjackaljones Good point and worth keeping in mind when using this mod.

JerryBlaze7 That sounds crazy wow. Imagine that along with other ai mods like Ultimate Combat and Revenge of the Enemies
!!! Absolute chaos
finally I know how to use the load order properly..
your instructionals are as great as your mod covering!

@kebubas Maybe I should do some guides on playing different archetypes at harder difficulties. Would that be something people would be interested in?

@doggod106 Actually its not that hard to use cover and lose them. Or better still, run them to some bad guys or a giant and leave them fighting :)
@TheBosstrain For me master difficulty is still too easy, especially once I get past about lvl 25. And even with these mods once I get past about lvl 40 I find myself not really having to focus. It probably means I play these games way too much or something :)
Dragons are weak? Well, it’s a Good thing we’re not some prophesied magic dragon killing specialist then.
Even if the player is they should be the only ones able to kill a dragon not normal Town guards 😅

@GophersVids i am not sure about PISE but for Deadly Dragons you have to wait 30 days in side of a building
Gopher, unless something's changed in the last build of DD, you can use the smelter to look at unenchanted versions of the new craftable gear.
I love your vids your so informative and makes the mods that much better knowing exactly what they do thanks for your awesome content
I think that the Dragon armor that you can make from the Deadly Dragons mod is kind off a mini easter egg, or atleast a reference, because it basically has the same name as some World of Warcraft armor, Relentless, Deadly, Furious etc.
LoL, that was the only reason I came back to this video: to check if he said anything about compatability XD
thanks man :P
@kebubas See part 13 of this series: It's a kind of magic :)
@GophersVids Haha, alright, thanks for the reply (on both videos.)
Keep up the great work, by the way. I've yet to see any mod reviews that reach quite the quality and effort of yours.
Gopher, have you tried the Wrye Bash mod manager? If not, you should absolutely do so, because it even allows you to choose load order on texture packs!
I would have to say for me personally deadly dragons mod is prolly the best mod available
@Axeface1 I read somewhere that there were a couple of dragons that were being nerfed in the new version (still a beta), but I can't find that info any more.
The developer of Deadly Dragons has released a Lite version of his mod, which has only the dragons changed. No added spells or armor or anything.
ASIS, the Successor to PISE works with SkyRe. In fact the SkyRe mod author says to use ASIS in the reame/changelog.
Best mod review there is.
@23:26 You mention a video about covering the .ini tweaks/fixes that covers the Bethesda Hi-Res dlc. can't find the video for the life of me ...
One thing I did not like about PISE(actually the only thing I dont like) :
Dragons are now deleveled but weighted. There's chances for any dragon to spawn from any level, but the chances of higher level dragons gets progressively higher as you increase in level. This will mean less difficulty at >level 45, but more difficulty at lower levels. Good with a slower leveling mod.
Dragons should always be tough
This may be irrelevent now, but since Delphine and Esbern are "essential characters" they won't die. Just thought I might point that out.
deadly dragons + dragon combat overhaul + 5 followers = the ultimate dragon slaying expirience (:
Lord Potato + 5 followers = ultimate crashing experience. Tfw low spec PC :(
Gopher, have you tried these mods with Wars in Skyrim IV?.. especially thinking about dark age version of it then. i cant imagine a greater challenge then that.. especially not if they work properly together, i havent tried yet so cant say for sure if they work together...
In my new game, I never heard the forbidden Meme words... Love that.
L Xerxes presumably Deadly, Mighty and Combat Overhaul. If you only go with one, go for DCO. It's magnificent.
You can change some options in the mod, to make the dragons land more often.
Can deadly dragons be mixed with immersive creatures
I noticed in my game play, dragons killed a ton of the citizens... Realistic, but with this, do they kill just about everybody that's not essential?
Great vids as always. I use 'em as a guide for my own install.
One thing though: What's up with the 360p ??
Y U No more Res?
@TheArthurbr Yes, I hotkey the spell.
I tend to use Variety Dragons. Makes them more difficult and adds even more variety. I agree the in game Dragons were kind of push overs.
Can't wait to try this out
Thanks !!
I like to think that Alduin is restoring his power at a pace that rivals the Dragonborn's leveling, so with more power he can revive a stronger dragon. The only flaw to this theory is after you slay Alduin, dragons will still become stronger and stronger.
go back a few episodes, the mod is called Jaysus swords
Akatosh: "Oh hey son, didn't know you were awake!"
Alduin: "WOAH!...uh, hey dad....
Akatosh: "So, what have you been up to?"
Alduin: "Uh, well, you know.....stuff."
Akatosh: "....stuff?"
[half an hour of increasingly awkward explanations later]
Akatosh: "THATS IT THATS THE FINAL STRAW YOU GODDAMN UNGRATEFUL LITTLE LIZARD, I'm sending a Dragonborn - YES IM STILL DOING THAT SHUT UP IS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH YOUR MOTHER - and he's gonna shout some sense into you!!!!"
It freaking sucked.
deadly dragon is still my most faved mod of all time =w=
Help? :)
