Yooo I forgot about that clip of Gardner Minshew at 5:29 😭😭 Saying “do not be satisfied with 1-0” before losing every game in the rest of the season is the most Jaguars thing to ever happen.
It's crazy to think that 10 of the Jags' losses were by one score. They sure didn't feel like they were technically close to being a dominant team. Pederson definitely has a big share of the blame but what's really telling is how worse the defense got. One more defensive stop in each of those games and the the Jags finish 14-3. They'd have an entirely different narrative and Doug would still have his job next season. The offense, more or less, has done enough to win games against all but the most elite teams. Just that the defense has been near bottom of the league. It started off good for the first half of 2023 and then fell off a cliff under Caldwell and never recovered under Neilson. That's why I'm thinking that I want a defensive guy for the next HC, like Aaron Glenn. He has experience getting the most out of a really banged up defensive roster. Remember, the Jags were one bad ref call away from going to the SB in 2017 with Blake Bortles at QB and a solid defense.
As long as Aaron can bring along his version of Ben Johnson doesn’t need to be one to one just a competent to good oc I would love that for y’all I’m a niners fan but I got a soft spot for Lawrence been hearing about the kid since his hs days just want to see the kid thrive and that fanbase happy
Yes yes, it all sucked. Defense sucked the most. So yeah, I am blaming the defense the most. And they scored more than 17 for about half of the games. (No, this does not mean I think the offense doesn't have tons of problems too.)
Even though I do agree Pederson was the scapegoat, him insisting on hiring Press Taylor did him no favors. You mention that name around Eagles fans, and I hope your ears can tolerate colorful language. Oh, and by the way, while Pederson has been served his pink slip, Taylor has not at the time of this comment. My biggest worry for the Jaguars is the front office. The Jaguars roster not being good enough to compete is on the front office for not drafting or signing the right guys. The Jaguars secondary is especially brutal, and they need to address this as early as the Draft. Baalke still has a year left, but do you trust this guy to draft the right defensive back to fix this "burnt toast" secondary. Plus, given how a certain wrestling promotion is being run, and has ties with the Jaguars through ownership, it's not exactly optimistic. Don't give me the "it's different sports, you're being a hater" BS, cause good management is key to running any form of organization. Right now, the Jaguars do not have that, and it will keep hampering this team's long term success regardless of who they have as head coach or GM.
Year 2 was opposite hot start with the defence carrying the stale offence then the second half of season collapsing under an offence that got worse with injuries to engram, Kirk and Jones.
WHY? I hear every 'pundit' say the same thing and not one has EVER given a reason. It certainly isn't his drafting - which is better than most. He can't help injuries to Lawrence, Kirk et al. Were his FA signings an abomination? All the media klowns say the SAME thing - 'no self respecting coach will go there if Balke's still there!' and "Vrabel's not going there if Balke's still there!"... and NOT ONE has ever said why Balke is so toxic. It's like EVERYBODY is just repeating the same opinion - with nothing to back it up.

Why not speak specifically what Lawrence did in the playoffs? Being down 27-7 and he came back and threw 4 TDs in a playoff game vs Herbert. Then went to KC and played a great game and came up just short. Tell the entire story without leaving anything out of it. Lawrence hasn’t had any top WRs like the other big time QBs. Talk about that. He has one now in BTJ.
You're spot on - as usual it's a cherry-picked anti-Jag video - no shortage of those these days. I'm not sure any team had a tougher first 13 weeks of the season. Miami and Cleveland - both with healthy QBs - were considered playoff teams at the start of the season, Jags lost both by a total of 8 points. They had only THREE 'easy' games in the first 13 weeks: Indy, Chicago and NE and they took 2 out of 3. Then the "playoff team" stretch - GB, Minn, Det and Philly - these are the best four teams in the NFC and Houston an AFC division winner. These 5 combined for 64 wins. I'm not sure any team in football had a tougher schedule. I don't see how GMs don't get this: (1) BUILD a great O-line - ESPECIALLY if you're going to pay your QB like he's a top 3 AAV QB. His health is your TOP priority because WITHOUT him, you're done. Think KC is talking 3-peat if St Patrick got KO'd at the start of the season? No way, they don't even make the playoffs. (2) BUILD a better than average defense - a QBs 2nd best friend is his RB...his BEST friend is a top 5 defense. Once you have that, your average RBs and WRs become well above average and sometimes 'stars'.
I Know Doug Pederson wasn't the best coach, but I believe he was set up to fail. The front office has been terrible for years, and they need to clean house.
Because this Jacksonville is CFB land UF, FSU and UGA are not far, Jacksonville had a USFL team in the 80s. Florida football is only maybe second to Texas

Any team in that position who needed a QB would’ve drafted Trevor Lawrence. Secondly, from week 12 2022 to week 12 of 2023, he was top 10 in the league in QBR, passing yards, completion, and yards per attempt. He’s still tied for 1st in 2024 with completions over 20 yards, and he missed like 7 games this year. Also he’s top 3 in aerial passing yards per completion. The issue with Trevor has been turnovers, shitty offensive scheme, and injuries. Not to mention the jags led the league in end zone drops in 2023, and the secondary couldn’t stop a fuckin leak for the last 2 years. And to your point about being the highest paid player… EVERY QB that gets drafted high will become the highest paid player. Just wait for Bo Nix, or CJ Stroud, or Caleb Williams contracts. It’s not the players, it’s the agents and the lawyers that are doing this shit.
