      You are not "South Indian". There is no separate "South India" like South Korea. You are southern Indians. And no, it's not the same thing. There's a world of difference between those two words.

    I am a punjabi Indian living in Canada. I hate the fact that every restaurant serves an almost standardized menu, which mostly comprises of north Indian preparations and very little from the southern India. I want to eat more indian cuisines. Chefs and owners need to explore food from other parts of India as well like himachal, rajasthan, eastern India, goa, tamil nadu etc etc.

    I can see some dislikes for this recipe. I seriously don't understand what is there to dislike in this.Every recipe is unique and can't be evaluated even without trying and without understanding the various taste preference and taste culture.
    I have seen people commenting like " itni mirchi" on a Kolhapuri dishe . Or some write that "coconut milk spoils the taste" on videos of coastal recipes.
    Qualifying characteristic of a foodie is to understand and appreciate all food cultures and taste preference and appreciate it.
    People want honest, flavourful food, not some show-off meal that takes days to prepare.

      Umm I didn't understand what you said but me being a South Indian I can say that if the batter is made properly it's doesn't taste sour. I love dosas, especially with sambar.

    • @knv9090
      @knv9090 8 лет назад +21

      It is indeed slightly sour. Other varieties of batter, such as semolina or unfermented rice flour, may produce completely non-sour dosas.

    • @cmys001
      @cmys001 8 лет назад +6

      depends on how long you ferment is for and what ingredients you use. some people like it to taste sour so they will add ingredients that make is more sour. and perhaps ferment it for longer.

    • @ihatesql
      @ihatesql 8 лет назад +1

      you are right, but because it is sooo thin, you dont get the sour taste. if you make it thick it would taste like sourdough bread.

      Yes DOSA, IDLI, Uddina Vada (Medu Vada), Tirambode (Curd Vada) all took birth in UDUPI. Udupi hotel business man took this to todays Chennai. Again he added aalu palya to make MASALA DOSA for north indian people. So the credit should go to UDUPI only. The birth place of tiffin culture.
