    When extending the power strips, do you just connect the power lead to the extensions, or all the RGBW plus the power lead?

      Yes this can be done no problem at all, I would always use 1.5mm cable if it is extended , that way you can go up to 15m away from the power supply to the strip

    Thanks for your video! I would like to know if I have to use 12V LED stripes or if I can also use 5V in your example. I would have to use 17m of LEDs for my ceiling. I know that 12V would have a smaller voltage drop but could I also use your idea with 5V LEDs? I'm thinking about using 5V WS2812B 60 LEDS/m with a 80A Power supply. I think that these should have power injection every 5m, so I don't know if there is a problem if in one direction is 5m and the other direction 3m (which would be 8m instead of 5m) like in your sketch. Thanks for your response.

    As all those options are wired in parallel, am I right to assume the length limit is determined by the amp capacity of the copper strips in the lights? I'm wondering whether I can make use of a 50v supply to power four 12v led strips wired in SERIES to form a voltage divider into 4 equal ~12 volt runs (power is ample and the copper strips are only then carrying the same amperage as the leds would drain in parallel from a 12v supply).

    Great vid. So on 2 long runs of 24V RGBW using a 320 W power supply. How long can you go for length without having to boost the power. I believe I will be 9m for each run. Plus what power cable has to be to each LED strip run. I thought A 2 wire power lead and a 5 wire RGBW to control the strips together. The power supply is 3m from the beginning of the strips start.

    • @annespacedroid
      @annespacedroid 4 года назад +3

      24v rgb led strips may get 10 meters before needing injection. There are a few factors to consider, including how many leds are in the run.
      2 runs of 9 meters each, maybe try power to the middle of them, and your data/rgb wiring at the beginning of the first led.
      Check your colors are all ok if you don't have a multimeter & if you do have one, check your voltage at each end of the runs with highest level of white brightness. 5% is usually around the loss factor. So 24v - 5% loss = 22.8 volts. Or thereabouts.
      Easy enough to run an animation on them & just check your colors are accurate.
      If they are the wrong colors at each end, your voltage drop is too high.

    Hi I’ve had a 5 metre standard RGB+1 extra terminal with an arrow symbol and had no problems even though I’ve made one right angle joint and a straight joint piece but all of a sudden they’re pulsing/ flashing ?? Not sure if the transformer/controller is faulty ? Or dodgy connections in the connectors I’ve installed ( in a bathroom so subject to moisture ) ? Thanks

    Found your video to be quite useful so thanks for the upload! Have one rookie question though. When bringing a cable to a rectangle corner, how or what do you use for splitting the cable up so you can connect 2 strips going their own way from 1 single cable. My total setup is going to use about 120w from a 150w powersupply - dont know if thats useful to know before answering.

    At 5:49 you talk about connecting LED strips around corners with small "link cables". I am planning to do this myself with 1.5mm^2 2-core cable, but I wanted to know what the limitations are. Could I cut a 5m strip in half and reconnect it with 3m of 2-core, and still run it off one driver? I'm not sure whether I should go by the overall cable length (8m) or the total length LED strip (5m). Thanks!

    • @InstyleLED
      @InstyleLED  4 года назад +2

      Great question! The 5m total is for the strip only, yes you can extend well beyond this with cable. 1.5mm maybe quite hard to solder onto the pads as this is thick cable, id use 0.75mm for the distance your looking for and you wouldnt have any voltage drop. Use 1.5mm for the starter lead cable from the 1st strip to the power supply. With this thickness cable you can be up to 15m of cable between power supply and strip. Id reccomend no more than 5m of link cable between strips at 0.75mm.

    I am in the USA and want to replace the lights in some jewelry cases. I know I can run 5M of lights off one driver but I think I may have more lights (total length) than 5 meters. Am I correct in hearing that you can split the circuit into 2 branches and run one adapter in the middle and have two strips. If I have 20 feet of cabinets all in a row can I run 2 10 foot LED strips from 1 power supply by feeding it from the center. How large of a power supply would that take. would I need one to run a 20 foot strip or one to run a 10 foot strip since I had 2 ten foot runs. Last thing is what power supply would I want. I want to run 12v white (4000K) LED's in the displays Thank you

    Im looking at doing a project at home where i want to replace our normal strip light over our stairs with LED strip lights on the steps themselves. Our stairs are 70cm long and we have 9 steps. Would i be able to put 9 lengths of strip lights in parallel on to one driver? I've worked out ill need a 40w driver minimum.

    • @InstyleLED
      @InstyleLED  3 года назад

      Yes I would get each strip made with it's own starter lead and wire them all in parallel to a connector block and then take 1 cable into the power supply. This way all the cables come from one side and all of the lights will be even brightness. If the power supply is say 10m away, then dont have 10m leads on each strip, simplly take a 1.5mm cable over to the steps and then have shorter cables attached to the strips , for example 3m cables on each and then they all go into a connector block to your 1.5mm cable that goes back to the power supply

      Depends on the watts each led strip use.
      If it is exceeding the wattage that is being provided by stock adapter then the stock adapter probably overheat. He has made a video about understanding the wattage and choosing the right power supply,go check it out! 😃
