The saddest part is that he clearly poured his heart into the role, by studying the original films and particularly Qui Gon Jin. Imagine getting excited about being in a continuation of arguably the greatest cinematic franchise of all time, only to end up with a talentless hacktivist calling the shots.

Either you've been gaslit or you're gaslighting yourself. The only difference in the subversive woke nonsense in the 80s and 90s and the subversive woke nonsense we deal with today is that 80s and 90s shows had more optics. How many cartoons back then just had fuck tons of token minorities shoved in and generally pushed some kind of humanist hugboxy cosmopolitan message (Hey arnold, Captain planet, Ect. Ect.)?
The entertainment you grew up with wasnt "genuine" or "honest", it was just a stepping stone to getting where we are now.
The audience is a frog boiling in "woke" water, the temperature was just turned up too quick and you started to notice it.

It's a mystery to me how this show could have been signed off. First the script is awful uncertain, flipflopping to dumb motives for most characters, that should have signal the alarm. Then test screenings, if any, should tell a few episodes are boring, dragging, repetitive, thirst trapping. Who signed the show off should be held responsibility. Or they found the show was so bad, they tried to bring up their, originally hidden, DEI agenda trying to save the show but in fact cashing more damage to the brand

Simply put. It was a case of Pride and not the Gay kind of Pride.
The Acolyte was the only High Republic Star wars show. Whereas the Sequel trilogy was built upon (and destroyed) the foundation of the originals, the High Republic was placed before all of that and gave KK Ultimate control and freedom. This was her star wars. And the director she chose made the Acolyte her passion project.
With that much invested, it's easy to miss glaring flaws. Especially when your main story group's biggest concerns are centered in identity politics.

I don't think content creators will ever learn the lessons of the failure of The Acolyte. Sacrificing good storytelling for pushing a DEI agenda, attacking long time fans before the content is released, then blaming them for not watching the show while labeling them "ists" and "phobes", is never a good business strategy. Unfortunately there are too many "Activists" involved in content creation now and finding content that focuses on good storytelling and not DEI agendas is like searching for a needle in a haystack these days.

    • @ballgang367
      @ballgang367 17 дней назад

Well no matter how bad the business strategy is how come no matter how many financial losses they take they continue to remain in business and rarely change course in any meaningful way, why?
Well, thats because profit isnt the goal anymore but rather calculated and deliberate social engineering efforts. Especially when all these losses can be made up by just putting out some bland inoffensive """"fun"""" film for the braindead consoomer general audience and make all your money back overnight. These people can get away with putting out as much destructive subversive propaganda as they want and it doesnt matter how much money they lose, the audience will just completely forget everything you did the moment you put out some shiny dangly keys.
Then you can just turn around and go back to pushing out subversive slop product after subversive slop product, infecting the culture at large with their diseased thinking, with absolutely nothing to really hold them accountable unless if you want to use state force to ban these subversive elements like we used to. The subversive elements we're dealing with today used "Free speech" as a battering ram to get into these influential positions in entertainment in the 80s and 90s and now that they control basically all of entertainment they dont feel like they have the need to maintain anything resembling optics anymore.
Entertainment has been woke for decades, treating the audience as a frog in boiling water. The only difference now is that they turned up the temperature too quick and some of the frogs jumped out.

One of the basic tenants of story telling is to have two on going stories, one that's focused on this season alone, and one that's focused on the grander overall picture. The problem is that The Acolyte had neither. Season 1 doesn't really have a coherent story. It's not focused on what happened with Osha and her sister. It's not focused on the corruption or kidnapping of the Jedi Order. Not even the Jedi serial killer or Space Witches were the focus. The end result is that there was no story at all.

Blows my mind how unattractive actors are these days? If they had just cast attractive actors and actresses that usually makes up for a rough first season and at least gets you to the second season while problems with the first season can be fixed in season 2. You would hope the shown runner leaves the office and asks some random people on the street what they liked or hated then adjust. I did not like the show or this character but the only somewhat attractive person in the show was the black mother of the twins. Every other actor was like an average person walking down the street. People pay money to see unusually attractive people. It’s cinema 101 that worked for over 100 years until the last 3 years good looking people have been “banned”

The problem is, the show seems to be written for very young teenage girls. The story and script are both hopelessly, flawed, childish and simplistic.
Star Wars fans are a massive majority male and this show treated the fans with contempt....👺

Disney/Marvel/Lucas is the only company I've ever heard of that spends the most money possible to Pander to the smallest group possible because they want a "new different smaller modern audience "....and even goes on Press Tours telling the much larger traditional audience group they are the problem..... and hires people who by their own admission don't know what they are writing about, and some who don't even like the subject material (because they want it to be something completely different for a much smaller audience) ......... Then when the larger traditional audience who they didnt want doesn't watch it because they let it be known the project wasn't made for them and the ratings are low, or the project crashes and burns, which anybody with more than 3 braincells knew would happen, they then turn around cry and complain and blame the larger traditional audience who keeps telling them to stop doing it and who they didn't want as an audience in the first place.......
This is literally the Disney/Marvel/Lucas business model.

Good job, but I simply don't see how any Hollywood company will agree spend so much money when all they have to do is look backward. In the 80s the Mini Series V. THe VFX were not all that great, but they were done well enough to support the story. The performers were not super well known, but they did a good enough job so that the show was not only elevated to CLASSC status. The writing was the highlight because even though Julie was a leading female she never eclipsed Mike. Even the background characters (Willie and Harmony) were interesting enough that their storyline worked. In addition to the CLASSIC status, V set the table for an equally successful follow-up with V: The Final Battle. Even today this pair of miniseries have many viewer everyday. Is anyone going back and re-watching ANY of the MCU TV shows? The Star Wars shows? No. So, fix the problem by hiring people who are competent in their fobs. I honestly hold that any of these failed things could have been successful IF successful writers like V scribe Kenneth Johnson.

I'm with the "lower budget season 2" crew. Like, a lot lower. Animated stickman lower. No voice actors lower. They need to get a random "fan" from the internet to draw it lower. It will be a smash hit.

The point is they DONT want to give diverse creators of various backgrounds a platform to tell their own stories. They would rather give money to a bunch of people who aren't diverse and one of their buddies or recommended by one of their buddies billions of dollars to throw away than actually give diverse people a platform. This is the insult to everyone's intelligence because it would be cheaper to take the money spent on the Acolyte and give it to 2 or 3 up and coming "diverse" creators to make something new. But Hollywood is full of sh*t and they only work with people that are in a certain group and nobody else.
