The corporate training background music - on a video discussing and demonstrating recording subtleties - was a showstopper for me.

This gentleman deserves way more subscribers. Without him, I could never have gotten my audiobook up from start to finish and into ACX with 0 formatting issues. He's a brilliant teacher. Thanks dude!
What Edit program do you use? I am trying to do my first audiobook but I would like the best way to do it.
Cam I just say that I enjoyed your name?! Glad you sorted your audio-book!
Amén 🙏 He really is !

I completely agree!
Working on my first audiobook with ACX and the requirements for final files really had me stumped. In the past, others have done the editing process for me, so I'm learning a new skill in having to edit my own files. Thank you for these easy to follow instructions on meeting those requirements-this was so helpful!

I love people that do this.
I am just starting out on ACX and know nothing about this software! This is the first video I’ve seen that described it in a way that made sense and didn’t have a bunch of extra software I had to download to get it to format right. Thank you!!!
Were you able to land a book?
I can't tell you how much this helped me understand the requirements for ACX. I have adobe audition and I followed along with each step and it worked out perfectly, thank you so much.
Would be a great video if you weren't competing with that background music.
yeah, I think I got a little carried away with this one. Definitely something I am keeping in mid for the future.
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I'm submitting auditions now for ACX and would be drowning without you!
Great video. Appreciate the examples and the step-by-step. So many questions answered! Much appreciated
Thank you so much! I'm your "newest subscriber" -- getting ready to record my book that will go up on ACX. This was perfect!! 😀
Professional experience and high quality presentation - respect
Dude - You're great! So clear! ♥ Thanks for this man - love from Argentina
dude, this is the best explanation on YT, keep up the good work.
Thanks :)
So grateful!! Thanks for sharing this information so clearly!
My Pleasure. Its great to know my content is helping people :)
Thank you for making this video man. You explained everything really well and quickly 😎👍
I just subscribed
Thanks for the sub!
What a great tutorial! Straight to the point and no fluff in between! Funny thing though, my problem is the opposite with the noise floor. Mine is always waaaay too quiet. who could have guessed that would ever be a problem? I actually had to figure out how to raise the noise.
You raise your noise floor?!?!? how is that problem...... I have so many questions
@@KrakenMediaPro ACX test says my background is too silent. Its true. I have to add noise. I use an RE20 mic in a room near a window and the mic is 3 feet from the workstation.
Thank you so much, clear and straight to the point !
Thanks. Glad it helped
Great and straightforward explanation and the way of presentation
Brilliant video. Very clear instructions. Thank you 🙂
Great video! Thanks for the help
Thank you so much for this! This was very easy to follow and also very informative.
Glad it was helpful!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS! YOU HAVE HELPED ME GET STARTED WITH ACX.. I HAVE BUILD A COMMUNITY ON SOCIAL MEDIA FROM MY VOICE SO IM EXCITED FOR THIS NEW ADVENTURE IN 2024
This video was really, really helpful! Thank you!
You're so welcome!
LOVED, LOVED LOVED THIS. Thank you for helping me. I'm not a prude I swear, just thought the music in your video could be a little lower while you're explaining.
thank you so much for clarifying all this. awesome job
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for creating this clip. I downloaded Reaper, but no one shows how to meet ACX standards as simple as you! I spent time trying to understand the programme for about a week. Did cry for that. Can't even add the 5 seconds at the end of my clip using Reaper 😭 It's way too advanced for me. I will download this programme and follow your steps. Thank you so much!
Your awesome , thank you for simplifying things for us although I find it very technical and want to say “I’m out” but I will watch the video a couple times more and watch your other videos 😅 my head is about to explode 💥 thanks for the encouragement😊
You are so welcome!
Cheers for this mate...enjoyed the vid :)
My pleasure
Great video, thank you. Subscribed 🤙😊
Thanks for the sub!
Very helpful, thank you
I'm working on my first project for ACX, and it's interesting because I'm learning that the author does not know all of what you are telling me and the book is not edited at all. He leaving me to do all of that, but you are explaining the entire format. Great video here.
So the author wants you to edit while you narrate for free? What the hell?
@@Lilmanskis Yea it was a mess, and he allowed me to fix things the way that work best for me. I never thought that ACX work like that. And then he had pages (parts of the script) missing. But that was the first experience. Because of my issues with LUFs, and I have mouth sounds that I need to fix, we ended up not completing the project. But I learned alot in this experience.
@@garyclement2888 I'm also looking for an easy to use audio editor to fix the RMS and bit rate have you had any luck editing?
Great job!. Thanks.
Thank you too!
Thank you so much!
Holy hell, you're a lifesaver. Thank you! Is there any way to do this in bulk?
Name of song?? I love that background music. Thanks for the helpful info bro!
Thanks a lot!
Thank you!
Brilliant thanks very much
Glad it helped
Terrific video--clear and concise. Now I have a question as a Reaper noob: I have multiple audiobook tracks for a few different sessions. With each new session I 'open project' and all of the previously rendered tracks appear. When I save and render the current session's tracks I get a message that asks if I want to use 'override' or 'intermittent' both of which I am confused by--I chose 'override' only bc I understood the term. Then all of that session's tracks and all of the previous sessions' tracks were rendered--seems not quite right to me...please advise how I can save just the session I am working on--thank you!
I am about to convert my eBook to Audiobook in hopes to offer more variety to people who want to consume my book. I will bookmark this concise video that I felt explains the requirements very well. Thanks for the guidance. After some time, are you still content with how your instructional video turned out, or are there other videos/resources you would offer up if you did it again?
I do plan to make more videos (When I have some time lol). If you are looking for other channels, Mike DelGaudio has a fantastic channel called booth junkies. Well worth checking out ;)
It`s a really easy to understand and useful video. Unfortunately, I looked at the cost and have no extra funds for Au. Is there a similar (easy) fix for these ACX requirements using Ableton? Thank you for any help and for posting this excellent video.
Thank you for this video! Do you have consulting services to help people get the set up correcting and confirm settings are correct? I plan on using WavePad and the settings can be confusing.
You know what, you've earned a new subscriber. Really enjoyed the video. I mostly due creepypasta but I been trying to get into Audiobooks. I use Audacity and have the ACX check plugging. Although I have RX 8 it doesn't help me when it comes to this.
Awesome, thank you! RX Voice de-noise and de-click kick ass. Where is your creepy pasta stuff?
@@KrakenMediaPro the latest one I did was The Maw of Skull Graymon
-54db is lowest I can get with mic on macbook for logic pro x. How may i achieve -60db for audiobook??
Noise reduction and expander...... However always focus on getting a clean recording. When you mic is on, turn your headphones right up and see if you can hear what noise is being picked up.
Awesome video. So useful! Please repost it without the background music, and youll get plenty more subscribers and views. What does it mean to gate your video?
Excellent video. You've left me curious about one thing. When dealing with RMS and peak values, why normalize before compressing (and then normalizing again)? Why not just compress and then normalize? I'm sure there's a good reason, which might even become apparent if I tried it out myself, but I'm curious to hear from an expert.
Mostly just consistency/accuracy. Much easier for our monkey brains to get good at doing everything normalised to 0 rather than at random values. Its also easier to hear what you are doing if its not super quiet to begin with.
Can you use an iPad Pro (with usb c microphone) and use voice memo for ACX?
Which audacity (simple & free but quirks & limitations) or Audition (the best but subscription) or Reaper (It can be free but can be complex for some but good for those who also make music) or Studio One (one time payment and seems decent) or Twisted Wave (dunno much about it)?
Thank you English version of Arin Hanson!
So, I’m new to this. Can I just use De-Noise in an Adobe Audition file to take the hiss out of my floor?
I have a question for you, I need software to remove voice noises, sounds for creating Audio Narration for ACX to pass the RMS Audio guidelines. And I'm told that RX10 Standard is the right one. Does RX11 include everything RX 10 has and new or it has different products?
What about your noise floor after compressing and normalizing again, I would assume its above -60db now?
Lots of good info. I wouldn't mind if you'd kill the music.
@KrakenMedia hello, I am trying to upload the finished production files and it kicked back that I had issues. I came here as a result of the issues and how to get them solved. Now there is another problem, I am not seeing anywhere where I can remove the file with an issue and re-upload an edited file? Have you ever run into this problem?
I love your tutorial but I hate the music as it makes listening YOU very hard.
Yeah... Sorry about that. I have been turning it down in the later videos. As a sound guy I should really know better.
So I am using a free program called Ocenaudio because I am just starting out. Do you think you might be able to use that program to do the same thing for ACX?
Maybe this will help - www.stevenjaycohen.com/2ndopinion/
Thank you for this! Very helpful. My Amplitude Stats only show peak amplitude and sample value. Do you know how to change this?
Whats DAW are you using?
@@KrakenMediaPro Shoot, I figured it out and it was embarrassingly simple. I just had to change my window view settings. Your tutorial was a great help! Simplified the process for me, thank you.
Awesome! Glad you got it sorted 😀@@karisutcliffe265
can you use a.i for voice
Can I achieve all this with an iPhone recording?
Hi, my RMS is -29 and I followed what you did in dynamics and tried changing the threshold to -20 but the dial will not let me go under 2.175. Do you know why?
Very strange, What software are you using?
So I can get all levels to pass and such, I submit into Audio Labs in ACX, and it says “false” for beginning/end room silence. Yet I have .9 and 3-4 seconds at the end of room tone. No crazy blips and using the spectrogram thing view, there’s nothing. Is that check buggy? Is there something I could be missing?
What is your noise floor? As an experiment mute those sections so its silent, see what it says then?
My total RMS Amplitude doesn't change at all even if I follow your steps - any advice? Great, great video though THANKS :)
got it :) I forgot to check the box before applying :D
Can you just silence your room tone?
Its not a great idea, it makes your audio sound choppy and is distracting to the listener. I made an example here - ruclips.net/video/JnLe4-0eR38/видео.html
Can I get a glossary of all these terms? Or perhaps a more basic video that would make this one more understandable?
You know what, that is actually a great video idea......
Is there some tutorial on doing this stuff in Audacity?
I keep threatening to make one. The principles are the same but the tools look slightly different. There is a Nyquist plug in for audacity called "ACX check" that you can use to measure the RMS and peaks etc
With ACX they tell us not to have anything lower than a -60 for the noise gate. So how do we achieve that if we don’t set the noise gate? I can’t just try to search all your videos for this set up that went very fast. You’re also not speaking to someone who is very new to both garage band, and ACX and doing audio work. Could you please dumb it down?
Please understand I’m incredibly grateful! I did not know how to reduce how loud it was and this is why I have not gotten past the first four minutes of my book.
I don't have adobe audition. I have audible.
Good advice but please get rid of the annoying and distracting background music.
Thank you, I will consider that when I make my next video :)
Hi. I’ve sent you an email enquiring if I can hire you to fix my audiobook files. Be amazing to hear from you. Save my project 🙏
Yes I can. Luckily I reply to emails much fast than YT comments :)
Anyone know what "gating" is?
Check this out - ruclips.net/video/JnLe4-0eR38/видео.html
Awesome stuff - would love to narrate but I have a Welsh accent which doesn’t appeal to anyone lol
That's awesome. I live in Wales. You should go for it. 1, there is a demand for all voices and 2, I think Welsh accent is particularly in demand
@@KrakenMediaPro you live in Wales, UK? 🏴
I have auditioned for non specific speaker roles and as for Welsh accent type there’s nothing on ACX other that royalty share which isn’t worth it unless that book is a consistent seller
@@dan68177 Yup 🏴 at the top of the valleys. Its true there is less demand for Welsh accents. But its also true there is a lot less supply. However you might need to broaden your search outside of audiobooks or ACX. For example, contact Welsh publishers directly and ask them about audiobook production or maybe look into narrating RUclips videos.
@@KrakenMediaPro oh wow, what are the odds, Diolch! I’m an actor in training right now so it’s something that might suit me financially, while I get ready to audition for acting parts
do you have any templates set up
You mean like audition presets?..... I was thinking about making some.
@@KrakenMediaPro Yes
First of all thanks a lot for the video. But I have to agree with some people here. The music in the background ist too loud and distracting. And this is a video about video quality. Maybe it could be reuploaded without it?
which application are you using
You mean which DAW I am using? Adobe Audition.
@@KrakenMediaPro is it free?
@@tabbassumsayed3557 Sadly no, If you are looking for free, look up a program called "Audacity" which is pretty good. There is also a plugin called "ACX Check" you can use with Audacity to measure RMS.
@@KrakenMediaPro great, thank you so much! Loved your content
@@tabbassumsayed3557 Thanks, Much appreciated.
Me, about to gate my audio... 😶
Don’t GATE the audio, some RUclipsr is going to hide under my bed and haunt me… okay, WTF is GATING the audio!?!?!?
Background music is maddening
I know :( Old me is and idiot.
Why will they not allow A.I narrative? My voice is totally rubish and I can only use a software to promote my own books that I write.
Because AI voice are completely void of emotion and expression.... at least for the time being, they are getting better fast
The background music makes it impossible to listen to you.
I know. Resolved it in more recent videos though ;)
