Gotta give it to you bro you've done a fabulous job. I particularly like how you manage to integrate an ultra short throw projector with minimal loss of virtual effects. When integrating an UST projector, most people have forced to house the centre channel within the cabinet, and for the most important speaker in the set-up its never a good idea, especially if it happens to be firing towards one's knees let alone the loss of the virtual effects!
As far as your curtains are concerned, try looking into switchbot curtains. Not only are they smart and have the option of single and double-sided optimising, but they're also able to adapt to any type of curtain rail / pole. Plus, I find I only have to charge my switchbot curtain robots twice a year (via USB). When in motion, the newer upgraded ones are so quiet that apparently, they are only at 25 DB 😮
That’s a good shout on the curtains, I’ll look into it 👍🏽. The main issue is mounting a rail in that location that’s secure as there’s no gap above the window so I’m either going into the plastic or into plasterboard above.
On the audio yes I made a very deliberate choice when searching for speakers to ensure they met the required depth so I wouldn’t need to mount the centre lower.
There are plenty of other shallow speakers available as well but these worked well for me and having matching sets all around and even the atmos to an extent means really good immersion and sound transfer.
I was hoping to create a whole series on USTs because I feel people have been put off them by the larger tvs being available but the pros still far outweigh the cons for me.
Unfortunately time constraints currently have no just started a new self employed role means I can’t make as many videos for the channel as I’d like but it’s good that any videos and ideas I put out can still be inspiration or just information for others looking to do similar.
Also a Liverpool fan, from Liverpool. I’m running a 5.1.4 system.
👍🏽
Can’t wait, it looks awesome
👍🏽
Nice update!! Great to see some UK home cinema content!
Im currently running an Atmos 5.3.2 with a Denon receiver.
Im restricted as Im still trying to maintain a living room esthetic. Ive still managed to squeeze into the space (4.5 x 4.0 x 2.0m)
*120" motorised screen
*JVC DLA X90
*Sony 65" 4K
*Denon Atmos AV
*XBOX 1S (primary source for streaming including Apple TV, and bluray of course)
*Nvidia shield
*KEF Q200 Centre Speaker
*Monitor Audio shadow surrounds (for their low profile)
*3 X BK Electronic subwoofers (for their small footprint)
My most important ugrade is going to have to be a projector! My current JVC has excellent black levels considering its age but an upgrade is long past due.
Its either going to be a X7000 e-shift (based on price and its the same size as my current one, so it will fit into the custom box) or I might hold out for a N5B!
Also, I feel my subs hit pretty hard and deep considering their size (with a claimed figure of 17hz) but without calibration I have no real idea, so I'm also on the hunt for a mini-dsp.
I cant place the accent, what part of the UK are you from?
#SHEFFIELD 💪🏽
I’m from Derby in the midlands, if you’re close enough and we can arrange something I’d be happy to do a video on your setup and feature it on my channel?
I would like to do tours of UK home theatres on my channel, but I’ve just started a new job and working 6 days a week so got 0 free time currently.
Derby? Although I live in Sheff, I work in Chesterfield, just a stone throw away from you.
I wouldn’t mind some tips, i.e minidsp etc. (I’m rubbish at that stuff, I’m more of a hardware guy than a software guy - installation etc.)
I love room tours, that’s a great idea! I always watch Youthman and Build Montage videos etc. but as for mine, I don’t think it’s worthy, lol!… Not yet anyway. I am getting there though, slowly but surely.
You are more than welcome to pop over for a cuppa and chew the old fat if you like, or I can send you a video of my set up and you can let me know what you think? Whatever works best.
Thanks, Halim (Hal)
I’m happy for you to send me clips for now and I’ll edit them into a video however most of the aesthetic of my channel is the b-roll using my camera equipment and that needs an in person visit which unfortunately due to my day job I can’t do currently.
I think for now if you film me a video(s) with all your current setup (equipment, seating, room size, acoustics etc) I can edit them into a video and maybe down the line we’ll arrange something in person.
I’m normally good with the software side of things as that always comes very easy for me but being completely honest similarly again I haven’t tweaked my setup much because of the lack of time so hopefully I’ll have a play about with my own at some point and then I’ll be in a better place to advise.
Yeah I agree, all the American RUclipsrs have a fantastic community they’ve assembled via podcasts and live streams and ideally I would like something over here too because I do know there’s many people here who also have awesome setups but maybe don’t have a platform to share it to themselves.
Message me on insta or X or something and we’ll take it from there.
Sounds good to me 👍🏽
Also, you said you don't go to the cinemas anymore, I don't go as often as I used to either.
I might go if it's a blockbuster etc and will only go to a premium screen, but as for a regular screen, I always find myself scrutinizing the picture and sound quality (unintentionally I might add) The darks are terrible! Or an explosion goes off and I eagerly wait for that bass drop... and nothing!
In saying that, I have booked a seat at the Dolby cinema in Leeds to watch Twisters next week! (The original has been re-released in 4K and some reviewers are arguing it has reference audio, so looking forward to that) You don't get the slam of IMAX, but the sound has more detail, the seats are all leather and recline, everyone as an individual arm rest and side table and there's about 1.5 metres of legroom.
It's been a while, I thought I'd treat myself 😂
I like it looks great
Thanks 👍🏽
Nice setup buddy enjoy 👍
Thanks 👍🏽
Ooooo very nice cinema 🤍
👍🏽
Nice setup mate. What remote are using? Thanks.
I use the Diamond edition BestJoy remote but also have their other remote but not using that currently as this one lays flat whereas that one rocks when the bass kicks in
I have an Awol Vision ust. When I record with my phone. It also gives a bluish-purple picture. When I upload on Facebook.
Yeah, something to do with the lens array and how phones capture it as my Sony camera can capture it and it doesn’t show the red hue
whats your thoughts on KaleideScape ?
A very niche product for a niche customer base, great for those who can afford it but not something anyone with budget home theatres should be even thinking about.
Nice
👍🏽
Hi do you get good sound performance with the way your front stage speakers are located ,what about the subwoofers laydown like that ,never seeing before , are you thinking on add in the future bass shakers to your sofa?
Front sound stage is very powerful so sound is still very clear even in the back row.
With subs it doesn’t matter how you place them, a driver is designed to push and pull so doesn’t matter the orientation.
Also because bass below 80hz isn’t localised it also doesn’t matter
I would like bass shakers but I don’t want to add more electronics to the setup yet as heat management becomes an issue.
@@MATechRUclips got it !! thanks for your respond , congratulations , your Home Theater look awesome
Hi is the app the measurements you use? I have heard that you should not use full range for the speakers. And they also say try removing the dip? Is it something you have tried and can give us some info?
It depends on the speakers, most speakers aren’t full range so therefore should be set with crossover accordingly.
I use Audessey to calibrate and compensate for in room frequencies but ideally would like to use REW for time alignment as well, but happy for now, when I have some free time I’ll have a play about with it 👍🏽
@@MATechRUclips Thanks.very nice cinema
Hi mate. How good do those speakers sound? What av receiver are you using?
check on description.
AV is Marantz SR8015
Speakers sound very good, very clear and powerful audio throughout the audio range.
They’re not full range so don’t dip down as some but my subs more than easily make up for that and the separation in channels is pretty amazing when watching 7.1 content.
@@MATechRUclips yeah I am considering going to on wall speakers for a more clean look. I don’t know if it would be a mistake. As my current speakers have some punch to them. I want to upgrade my avr first. You the first I have seen with those speakers saw them a while back.
Ideally I would liked all front sound stage to be the same but as this was a package deal it came with different centre to L/R channels to emphasise the dialogue.
I would’ve preferred a vertical arrangement too but that needs an Acoustically transparent screen and I haven’t seen any UST screens that can do that.
Maybe something to consider if you are looking at the OSD Audio range.
@@MATechRUclips yeah I would be looking for three identical speakers like the centre you have got. I currently have monitor audio silver c350 as centre, right and left as the silver 100. They sound great. Just been wondering if I would be losing much going for speakers like the OSD for a cleaner look also. The monitor Audio sounds great but a bit chunky. I wonder if a new avr will make them sound better as I am currently running a budget Sony avr.
