*floppy strings*
I honestly thought the whole intro was just open chugs on the record because of how goddamn distorted the guitar tones are. Glad to see it's not - not that there's anything wrong with open chugs.
It is open chugs, I spent a lot of time dissecting it. The toms are pitched which makes the guitar sound pitched though it's not, it's just an open chug in Bb.
@@CLIFFORDBAND I don’t want to be that guy but your like the only person I see saying it’s open chugs, like the tabs I’ve seen for the song (not official ones I should mention however) all have that chromatic pattern
@@silverhandforever I'm confident in my ears, just wait for their next live performance and I guess we'll find out for sure
@@CLIFFORDBAND I guess so
@@CLIFFORDBAND its not.

the riff break at 3:03🤤🤤🤤
The part we are all waiting for
You know the one
The exact moment I knew this album would be a beast.
I was listening to the rest of the song kinda like "Really this is new Meshuggah" and then this hit and I was like "ohhh"
@@BaenaCarcosa like the end of I'm the thirst.
Bass is actually an octave lower than the guitar for much the album - insane!
I read somewhere they didn’t use the 40’ quake bass?
@@sheldonwright8770 Don't know about the gear, but the whole album is down an octave on bass
Easily one of the best songs in the new album IMHO
It's a perfect journey of percussive grind that morphs into an enraged groove and tapers off into an eerie, melancholy nothingness.
My favorite song of the new album!! Just gives me that Dancers feel.
Love the way the bass strings look while playing this.
3:00 This video made me realize the song isn't in 3/4. That right ear crash cymbal is louder in this version, and it made it all click. Thanks so much
I’m pretty sure this song is in 6/8. It took me a while to realize that as well 💀
@@Djent_Djenerator 12/8 actually
I love this song and the riff break gives me real feels for some reason
I can’t be the only one who is reminded of Down with the Sickness by the intro… right?
Disturbed Cog
My first thought too
dude i said that on Meshuggah's music video and got told off lol
It's The Meshuggafied version or "What if Disturbed tuned down"
@@cameroncorrosive925 lmfao
Awesome, the vibrating strings are hypnotising :D love it!
My new favorite Meshuggah song.
This is a gorgeous cover. Massive respect for what you've done here.
3 min in and I barely noticed you were switching between bass and guitar.. thanks for the cover, this is the closest I get to watching Fredrik and Marten do a play through
So satisfying to see those low strings vibrate! Awesome cover!
That's sick!!🤘
That was awesome man. Nailed it.
Can you feel that?
Ah, shit
Oh, ah, ah, ah, ah!

it down with the sickness but more complicated
Sick cover!
Awesome
damn the thickest string of the bass looks like a snake.. low low ahaha cheers mate
Nice Cog bro

Hell yeah!
GG dude!
That was pretty legit, but now you gotta figure out that bullshit outro to Phantoms 😏 (Seriously, dude. What the fuck is even happening there 😵)
1, 2, 4, 3, repeating, with the occasional 7 thrown in, while ascending in half steps, a whole number of times.
Rather than type it all out, here you go.

@@chuckh9168 I love Yogev! I think I might have watched that the day he uploaded it because I had been waiting for him to break it all down. Even now with us having a better understanding of what's going on, it's still pretty ridiculous lol.
@@DJENTISNTNOTAGENRE agreed. Even Thomas Haake was like “yeeeeeah, we don’t play that one live”
on-point!!!
this is badass
A distinguished gentleman! Ah yes!!! Playing to the tune of Alphabet!!! YES MOREEE!!!
How hard is it playing an 8-string? I don't have the longest fingers but would like to think I'm still capable of doing it 😁 none of the shops near my place have an 8 string to try out so I'm at the mercy of buying online
I just got one in the mail! So the scale length on my new schecter demon 8 is 28 inches and a regular strat is like 25.5. The low F string at the bottom is about the same thickness as the A string on a bass, but it has a lot less tension than any bass string, so it shreds your fingers a lot less than a bass and is actually really comfortable. I find the width of the 8 string neck to be really comfortable for me compared to my strat or RG. It’s noticeably wider and not uncomfortable at all. And the weight is pretty much the same as a Les Paul for at least my 8 string. I love it already so much since I just got it in the mail the other day and it just feels so right for me, and sounds amazing. Definitely was the best musical decision I’ve made in a while and that’s saying a lot considering I have like 8-10 different instruments (I have multiple of some of them so like 12-15ish total I think?). But I got the demon 8 for $599 off guitar centers website and $643 with shipping in America. I highly recommend getting one. I’d go with schecter if I were you cause they have a lot of really good budget friendly 8 strings. Like the Omen 8, C8, demon 8, and a few others. My fingers are above average in length, but they’re very flexible, so that makes playing them very easy for me.
I've seen a lady with tiny hands absolute crush a 6 string bass guitar and those are juggernauts of instruments - she was a pro and made it seem effortless. I honestly think it's a lot less about *can* and a lot more about *want* . I just took the leap from 6 to 8 string myself (Schecter C8 Deluxe), but I have huge hands. Having said that, it still comes down to the combo of wanting to put the time in to get used to it as well as enjoying the instrument still. I would say it is a different feel even with big hands and that might not go away, but I also think that's something you need to embrace or you'll always keep fighting the instrument. It makes no sense to want a 6-string feel out of an 8-string. My experience is that time and practice can overcome nearly everything. But whether you *vibe* with an instrument, in terms of physical feel, sound and what it can do for you that you wanna do, those are more important questions imo. I'm playing my new 8-string and I'm noticing things like scale are to me way less of an obstruction (I honestly barely notice the difference) but the width of those 2 extra strings just make it a fundamentally different feel to me. I don't think anyone is gonna play Jimi Hendrix on an 8 string with the same feel, but then again, that's not why you'd want one? Try to hone in on what you want out of the instrument, whether you actually vibe with that as a musician (I can love keyboards but ill never enjoy playing them) and if both are the case, accept the practice curve because you can def overcome it if your motivation and love of the instrument is there.
If you're still looking, check out Harley Bentons QBB 8, probably out of stock right now, but it's only around $350, has a thru neck, locking tuners, 27in scale, fan fretted. 3 way selector. If you're just wanting to try an 8 string then that's what I'd recommend, I've been loving my QBB 8. They also have some cheaper 8 strings for only around $160, but they're bolt on necks etc.
Sick guitar. I have the m80m cause I couldn’t find one of those.
Got a extra 9string? 👀
Is it just me or is that floor tom in the intro mixed too fucking loud? I can't hear the low string flubs clear at all

How do you get the lead sound? Is it just alot of reverb and chorus effect?
what do you use for your amp sounds?
Fortin Nameless suite + bogren digital downtuned IR

No mommy ill be a good boy!
Is this in 7/8?
6/8 or 12/8, or more likely just 4/4 with triplets. It’s all the same essentially.
does nobody else hear the obvious disturbed down with the sickness riff similarities?!
That clicking sound is anoying, what is it, the bass or the drums?
I’m not sure u played the song correctly I’m this cover. If you listen closely to broken cog you’ll C Bb Bb C F C Bb Bb C F
Meshuggah plays in F standard on most songs. They have a couple drop D#(1) songs on this album, and the reissue of nothing has a lot of songs in E(1) standard and one or two in drop D#(1)
@@Creature1009 I’m pretty sure god he sees in mirrors and armies of the preposterous are both in D# standard
Bruh this is so weird u look exactly like my old P.E. teacher and his name was Andre
What size are your ears stretched too? Anyone know?
Decent... Now do Armies Of The Preposterous 😂
Why don’t I like this song? I love Meshuggah and enjoy this record. It seems like the fans really dig this one. From my first listen of the song until now, I’ve found the main / beginning riff reminds me, somehow, of a very childish rhythm. Literally a nursery rhyme or children’s song somewhere in the back of my mind that I can’t put my finger on. The riff break in the middle of the song is genuinely great, though.
Thomas thinks Ligature Marks is the best song on the album and a lot of fans seem to love it. I think it's the 2nd least one, lol. (Least is God Who Sees in Mirrors, imo, even though I appreciate its complexity more). Massive, long-time fan myself, Idk, sometimes stuff just hits you differently, don't let it bug you.;) I also personally love how long it can take for a Meshuggah song to suddenly click with me. I listened to the album Koloss most of the time ***skipping I Am Colossus***. Now I consider myself batshit deaf af for doing that, one of my all-time fav Meshuggah songs, but for the longest time it just didn't proces for me. They're a fun band that way.
Hate the intro part on this, my small hands can't handle.
Why not just play bass w/distortion?
🤣
😑
Meshuggah actually did try playing all bass’ years ago but it didn’t work out apparently. It doesn’t sound the same anyway it’s very low but still a guitar…
Tuning?
Always a fan of off beat music 🔥👍
