18-year old Donna Loren performing live with the Mitchell Ayres Orchestra on a national television show which aired 9/16/66. Donna was signed as a regular on the show with Bobby Rydell, but the show was short-lived and she only appeared in four telecasts. Donna released a 45rpm record of this Tony Hatch penned tune in 1965 on Capitol Records in a completely different 'softer' style. You can hear or view that version on her website at www.donnaloren.net. "Call Me" was a hit for Petula Clark in the UK and Chris Montez in America.
Donna Loren was the one-and-only "Dr Pepper Girl" from 1963 to 1968. She was signed to a long-term contract with the soft-drink company to sing all television and radio commercials, do all magazine and billboard advertising representing them in every capacity, sometimes sharing the spotlight with American Bandstand's Dick Clark. This relationship led to her touring in Dick Clark's Caravan of Stars with other popular acts like Diana Ross and The Supremes and singing solos in the popular Beach Party films starring Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon. Later, she became the regular female vocalist on the popular 60's American live rock n roll TV show "Shindig" and she appeared in singing and acting roles in many iconic TV shows like The Monkees, Gomer Pyle, The Mothers-In-Law, Red Skelton, Dr. Kildare and various game shows. In the 60's she released 18 singles and an LP. Her new CD entitled "Love It Away" is her first new music in decades. Hear it at www.DonnaLoren.net. New Video: • Donna Loren - "It Only...

Donna was always classy and so girl next door! As a teenager back then I had such a crush on her. Love her take on Call Me but as many of the comments have noted the absolute best was done by the great Chris Montez...a jazzy mellow version.

Too bad the '60s also had: assassinations, riots, cities burning, Vietnam War, the corrupt LBJ as president, and ending the decade with Nixon. Other than that, the '60s did have one redeeming feature: superb music.

I was just a tot but I remember people calling Donna Loren and those' crazy kids' beach movies 'classless'. And Miley isn't necessarily being herself, she's just reflecting to times as an 'artist' to gain fame and profit, and doing a spectacular job at it. Both Miley and Donna aren't particularly great singers as well.

Some folks have commented about "class" or the lack thereof of today's "stars". Here's the bottom line: CLASS can be taught...start with teaching your children good manners and grow from there. TASTE, on the other hand, whilst it can be cultivated, most folk refuse to take the time to do so and what do we wind up with? People with NO CLASS and NO TASTE!!!

There is "0" evidence of Liberace being homosexual/gay. He was once
engaged to actress Joanne Rio & frequently dated countless other
women; not men! He testified (under oath) & denied being homosexual
(or ever taken part in homosexual practices) in a 1956 defamation trial
against the Daily Mirror. He further won a libel suit (1957) against
Confidential Magazine for publishing a malicious article alluding to him
being a homosexual. In Liberace's biography 'The Wonderful 'Private'
World of Liberace' there is no mention of him being homosexual, engaging
in homosexual practices, or an affair with Scott Thorson??? Chapter
Three does mention his affairs with women. Liberace was not gay!!!

From IMBD: 14 December 2012 11:46 AM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »
Matt Damon stars in the upcoming HBO film "Behind The Candelabra," a biography of Liberace (Michael Douglas) in which Damon portrays Scott Thorson, the long-term lover of the famous pianist. We'll be seeing plenty of him in the movie.
"Normally I'd say no to nudity, but I just did a lot of it," he tells Playboy of the film. "I mean, it's tastefully done. Steven Soderbergh directed it, and Michael Douglas plays Liberace. But this movie's not going to be for everyone."
Though the film is about extraordinary people, Damon says it's a relatively simple love story. "These two men were deeply in love and in a real relationship--a marriage--long before there was gay marriage. That's not an insignificant thing. The script is beautiful and relatable. Their conversations when they're dressing or undressing or having a spat or getting ready for bed? That's every marriage. It feels like you're witnessing »
What? Next you'll be saying he didn't support right wing causes of the time???

often it's their manager. How can this clown call into question the singing talent of Diana, Grace, or Janis??? Why doesn't he thrown in Babs while he's it??? You know, the other reason is that other than the throw away BEACH BLANKET BINGO soundtrack, she didn't record an LP in this 60's. And thus, no CD.

The Taylor Swift of 1966? She's one time has forgotten about, but she was kicking some serious a** back then. Hmm. I'm thinking she can't hear the orchestra... she's quite sharp... and that's not like Donna Loren. The other singers are in perfect tune. As soon as she comes back in... she's in tune. It wasn't easy to sing on those shows I'm guessing.
