Yes! This is what I have been feeling for the last year! David was a man after God's heart. I pray these Psalms all the time. I feel empty around sweet pleading prayers. It's time to go to war against God's enemies.
I appreciate what you said at the end about praying for addicts. God allows us to suffer the consequences of our poor choices in order that we may come back to Him! He disciplines those He loves. 💛
Excellent TOPIC! --- Thanks Robby, I'm going to play this at my small group at the Vineyard in Waterloo... So happy to see you are still at it! --- Preach it, Brother... We are in the fight with you!
Excellent podcast! Such a confirmation! The truth is that wickedness needs to be punished if there is any hope of repentance, thus salvation. If we are just fluffy happy go lucky prayers we are encouraging this wickedness. Silence speaks volumes.
Jesus always raises the bar to the truths of the imprecatory psalms - Love Your Enemies 27But to those of you who will listen, I say: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you. 29If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. And if someone takes your cloak, do not withhold your tunic as well.… When the disciples look at Old Testament and suggest calling down fire - Jesus rebukes them. When Peter takes up the sword like Jonathan for David - Jesus says put away the sword.
And then there is this from Jesus: "Jesus said to them, "Woe to you, Chorazin! Woe to you, Bethsaida! For if the mighty deeds done in your midst had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would long ago have repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. But it will be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment than for you. And as for you, Capernaum, 'Will you be exalted to heaven? You will go down to the netherworld.'"
Great discussion!!! The topic of Elymas who is blinded, whom Paul spoke to. It is good to mention, " Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,... Paul was filled, his flesh was not glorying, it was Spirit inspired.
Wow! Yes. Thank you for the reminder to pray the Psalms. The God of the OT is still the God of today. God didn’t change. We’ve just heard a lopsided gospel for decades. There are the lost, who need Jesus and could still come to Him; and then there are the enemies of God, who He will judge with righteous judgment.
Thank you, I like the discussion of taking prayer to the offensive, rather than defensive. We are constantly taught of defensive posture and I have struggled. I am sure like many others on 'righteousness anger". For example for me James 1:20 For man's anger does not bring righteousness of God - I will study Psalms now. Like today the images of North Carolina, Tennessee, etc and the Biden administration -abandoning Americans and giving money through FEMA to illegal aliens. As well as all the topics that both of you are discussing.
I go to James 1:20 also. This was an interesting conversation. I wonder if as long as we leave the vengeance to God if we can pray these prayers that were talked about. I am called to love my enemies and pray for those who persecute me. I think a prayer along these lines would be loving but may not sound like it to the one it is prayed for: "Father, do whatever it takes to open their eyes."
I think this world has darkened our perception of holiness. Praying the Psalms should not be controversial! The lines are so blurred. Lord have mercy on us!
All situations require individual discernment saying that some words are a higher than others is missing the need for discernment. I like the point made in regards to Germans during WWII. I believe Paul had the right word in due season for the copper smith. '
What about the prayers of the saints in the book of Revelation? They are not nice prayers either. In chapter 5 and 8 the prayers of the saints are mixed with fire and thrown to the earth. That's judgement. And in chapter 6. The saints pray, "How long, O Lord, holy and true, until You judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?" Then in Luke 18:1 Jesus is teaching us to pray and ends the parable with, Luk 18:7 And shall God not avenge His own elect who cry out day and night to Him, though He bears long with them? Luk 18:8 I tell you that He will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?" Wow!!!
I listened to this, but it is not congruent with the teachings of Christ. Jesus did not give a caveat to love your enemies and bless those who persecute you. When the disciples wanted to call down fire on their “enemies” what was Jesus response? What if the early church prayed these prayers against Saul while he was persecuting the church? He certainly “seemed like he’s not going to get saved”. I’m sorry that’s ridiculous, how many of the darkest most wicked people have we seen God totally transform. They will know we are disciples by our love, not praying for God to make orphans of our enemies children. Seriously? How does that feel good to pray?
Old guy comment for your YT points..... on 9/27/24 : During my 5 am prayer time, I pray for those in administration over me. The Holy Spirit gave me and downloaded an analogy for pastors. (Perhaps even leaders in the Arts & Entertainment Mountain) As the shepherd, you have been sharing well about the good things that I (The Father) offer. You have talked of the green pastures, the calm still waters, and the comfort of the shade under the trees. However, you have failed to discuss the perils and dangers that can endanger the flock. There has been no mention of the cliffs, the polluted water, and muddy paths that should not be traveled. There has been no warning of the wolves seeking to devour or separate as many sheep as possible for their deception and abuse. I think the Holy Spirit's utilization of the complete "Shepheard training" is excellent and not confrontational. I am uncomfortable with giving direction or chastisement to pastors (Shepherds.) I like the word picture of the shepherd only painting good times and not the complete life preparation, including hard times, warnings, and battle preparation.
THE LORD IS THE WORD!!!! If it is in scripture then it is from Him. Wake up and stop being a pansy. Jesus was not a wimp and He does not want us to pray wimpy prayers again evil beings.
FINALLY!!!! Finally someone is speaking the truth!!!! Abba showed me this very truth years ago and told me to pray as HE is praying and in scripture He did not pray wimpy cotton Candy prayers ❤️🔥🙌👑❤️🔥🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏❣️

This feels right!! Thank you for this teaching.
Amen brother! ❤

We must be about the work of our Father. ❤ Lord, lead and guide us into Your truth and wisdom, that we may be proper ambassadors of Your Kingdom. ❤

Thanks for the insight. I believe this is necessary for a time such as this.

Pray Luke 12:2…. Uncover, reveal, expose it all. All the stuff
I agree 100% it’s about time the church grows a pair. Even though their the bride.

The teachings of Jesus take priority over anything that was taught in the Old Testament.
Bless and curse not....
