My God. Our firepit has been sitting dormant for months. Was so frustrated. 2 mins later with your advice, and we are rocking. I think you just saved my marriage.
@@ryangibbons3928 another marriage saved thanks to this video! I’m glad I was able to help you out!
I'm going to cry. My husband passed just before receiving a fire pit, friends put it together and the first time I tried lighting this happened. I found this and fixed the problem. Love you You Tube.
I’m glad I was able to help you out tonight!
Nope. Not fixed. It’s frustrating.
Life saver!!!! What an easy fix. As a side note - our model (which looks exactly like the one in the video) had TWO nuts. First one was fine - second one is the one that needed tightened. We almost gave up when first nut was ok and then my husband spotted the second nut a few inches from the first - and that one needed tightened! Just thought I’d mention in case it helps anyone else.
Glad I could be of help to you!
You sir, have just saved me massive amounts of frustration and saved all the smokers at our Christmas party from hypothermia. Thanks so much!
You are a complete hero!!! My wife and I just moved to Texas and it would not stay lit. Thank you!!!!
Glad I was able to help
My exact problem. Found this video and was completely stoked to go tighten it up and get the flame to stay. Unfortunately, Even after tightening, as long as I hold the button in, I have flame; as soon as I let go, still goes out. But I appreciate the video, can't blame you for my cursed luck.
Keep tinkering. I would say the success rate of this video is over 90 percent
Same here. I had high hopes, but it did not work for me. I couldn't find a second nut to tighten as one commenter suggested.
Thank you, man. You just saved us from having to return our fire pit. Made my wife really happy!
My different brand firepit has had this problem intermittently, becoming more and more routine as time goes on. So frustrating! A slight tightening of that nut tonight and it works like a charm. Cheers to you sir!
We did not believe it could be this simple, but it works!! Now we can enjoy our pit again!! Thanks!
Bought this fire put used.... The owner said it worked but it clearly didn't... You fixed it like a charm
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Our fire pit table was an expensive one and for years we haven’t been able to keep it on. We were at the point of selling it at a garage sale. You’ve you saved us a lot of frustration and money. The coupling was not even attached much less tight. But it works beautifully now. The last time we searched RUclips was about three or four years ago and so I’m glad you put this video up since that time so we were able to get it fixed!!!
Very happy I was able to help!
Do you have any suggestions if the knob came off? I tried putting it back on but nothing
Whew! Just bought a fire pit from a flea market that was supposedly new, but I got home it home and it wouldn’t stay lit. Tried your solution and it works and stays on just fine. Thanks!
Immediately fixed my problem with a different brand fire pit… that “nut” was just a bit loose… tightened it up, and we’re good. Flame stays ljt! Thank you!
That did it. For months we’ve been calling the company and nothing. Thank you for taking the time to put out the video!
Wow, we were about to abandon our won’t work fire pit. We bought it 2nd hand. Driving around town looking for a new thermocouple when I thought “let me check RUclips”. And here you are! Saving the landfill and us some money! Thank you.
im glad you stumbled onto my video! These videos have helped tons of people! I greatly appreciate the feedback
Brother, ALWAYS check RUclips lol!!!!
My fire pit wasn’t lighting and I put it off for the longest time. My wife was hounding me to try and fix it. I pulled up your video and boom it worked! Thank you!
Glad I could help! I fixed it originally for the same reason!
Wow, that is exactly what happened to my fire pit..Thank you so much for the pertinent information.. You saved me from taking it all apart and trying to determine what the problem was..2 min fix !!!!!
At the very least you saved me from spending an hour re-enacting the dad from Christmas Story. Thanks to you, the evening is saved and I didn’t offend anyone.
Two years of flame going out after 5 minutes... and sure enough the line was loose, 5/16" wrench and 45 seconds... and it works perfectly. Thanks.
Glad I was able to help!
Thank you!!!! Had my table for 7 years and always worked until one summer. Was getting frustrated, then found your video and it fixed the issue! Before using it this summer again, will make sure to tighten it again to avoid the same problem.
This is GENIUS! I've been fighting my fire pit for 2 years. Mi e had 2 nuts and the smaller one was loose. Tightened it - All better. AMAZING!!
Glad I could help!
UNBELIEVABLE!!! I was just about to take my fire pit apart and buy a replacement thermocouple. This saved me a ton of time! THANK YOU
Glad I could be of help sir
Dang! Bingo, you were spot on. We’re at an Airbnb with one of these and this was the exact problem.
Brandon, you’re awesome 👏. Our fire pit is less than a month old, and it wouldn’t stay lit when un-pressing the gas knob. Sure enough, that nut was loose and after tightening, it worked like a charm. THANK YOU 🙏🏼!
Glad I could help!
Thank you. We do not have the exact fire pit but do have an 5/16 nut. Ours is a round model purchased on Amazon. This fixed our almost 3 year problem with our new fire pit. A tip I can give you is to screw until the threads are not showing. That what it took to fix ours.
Rented a cabin in the woods, the weekend would have been boring without sitting by the fire pit on the deck. Thank you sir!
Thank you!!!! brand new fire pit did not work and I was so frustrated after hauling it home and assembling!! Saved me some tears for sure!!
I thought I had to disassemble and send everything back. For 3 months I thought this thing was broken. Thank you for the video.
Just did this quick fix and it worked like a charm! It was EXACTLY a what was wrong with my fireplace. Back outside having a beer on a cool May evening in Canada 🇨🇦 Thanks for sharing
Glad I was able to help thanks please subscribe and give my channel a thumbs up
Thank you, thank you! Mine would stay lit maybe 5 minutes, and I would hear a CLICK physically cutting off the gas. I figured it works like my gas furnace with my home, and I needed a thermal coupler. After seeing your video, I said Screw it. It's worth a check. If I told you it had literally a 1/16th or 1/8th rotation of looseness. It's been 10 minutes, and it works perfectly!
Glad I was able to help you out!
Thank you! Bought a firepit second hand and was frustrated when it suddenly stopped working. It helped you described the symptoms so I knew to apply this solution.
Thanks for this video, worked exactly as you stated...the other symptom was that this unit turned off after a short time, maybe 10 to 20 minutes may also be due to the loose TC connection, Thanks be safe!
Joe Who? I’m glad I was able to help. Please like this video and subscribe to my channel
Thanks again
I only turned mine like a quarter turn and it worked. No idea how or why. Thanks dude!
Many, many thanks for this. I worked perfectly! We had a brand-new unit that worked perfectly the first time and then failed subsequently. This simple fix was just what was needed. 😃
So glad I was able to help!
LIFE SAVER!!!!!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Why don’t they mention tightening that part in the instructions? Thank you!!!
Not sure why they don’t but in the meantime I’ll continue to enjoy my video getting views and helping tons of people. Glad I was able to help
How? I knew it was the thermocouple, went to buy a new one and came here for instructions on how to disassemble the whole thing. Had to watch the video twice because I thought I missed something. It was that simple: a half turn of the wrench. We haven’t been able to entertain in our backyard for months. Problem solved. Thank you!
Glad I was able to help Michael
You are a freaking life saver. My wife has been on me to fix the fire pit for months. Watched your video, went out, fixed it in 2 minutes and now the wife is super happy. Thank you!
Awesome glad I could help
1:14 I had the exact problem same fire pit great fix! Thank you it works now
Thank you so much for this great video! Our firepit was working fine for about a year then started being hard to keep running after initial start. It turned out the thermocouple was loose andd when we tightened it as you show, it worked like new again! We can't thank you enough. Have a great day.
Glad I was able to help!
Thank you! Struggled with this for 30 minutes and was going to call the manufacturer in the morning.
Cheers to you sir from Las Vegas! We live here and love the heat. Must have come loose over the cold months but we are back in action!

Glad I was able to help you out!
Thank you so much. I was losing my mind trying to solve why I couldn’t keep my fire lit. You saved the day!
Thank you so much!! My fire pit is not like yours, but you were exactly right… I was able to apply this to mine aand make it work. Im shocked this simple solution was not mentioned in the manual. Thank you so much for posting.
Glad I was able to help you out!
Just bought this same fire pit and was having issues getting it to stay. Thought we were going to have to send it back! Hopeful that this will fix our issues!
I have confidence it will there are tons of comments here where it worked for others
THANK YOU!!! Brand new firepit and Amazon wanted me to deconstruct it to return! Solved the problem!!!
Glad I was able to help!
I have a different brand fire pit, uncovered it for the first time this season and had this problem. This solution worked perfectly! That part wasn't loose at all, but just a fraction of a turn was all it took. Thank you for the help!
Glad I could help you ! As well as many others
Great video! Was going to replace 2 fire pits at a couple of rental properties because they would not stay lit. I fixed both pits in 2 minutes per your video! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!
Totally fixed the problem! Tightened the screw and no issues since.
Thank you Brandon! I watched this video last night, and just now went out to try your theory. It Worked! I don't have paypal or Venmo, but I will pay your kindness forward in other ways. I enjoy sharing knowledge with others, and I am glad that you do as well.
I’m very glad I was able to help with your issue. This video has helped many others if you could just like and subscribe to my channel that would be fantastic!

Very glad I could help
Our fire pit has been out of commission for over a year and this solution worked in less than a minute. Thank you so much!!!
Damn, thanks! Mine was lose. Tightened it and boom it stayed.
Awesome! Glad I could help
I have that exact fire pit.
Worked perfectly, took 1/2 turn only.
Thank you
I know this comes late in the game, but thank you so much for posting this. I could not figure out why this thing wasn’t working and had just about resigned myself to buying a new one. You are awesome, sir. Liked, subbed and shared.
Daisy thank you so much even years after this video gets so much positive feedback this time of year and I’m glad that I was able to help!
I have a mainstays (walmart brand) 30 inch tile top fire pit and it out of the box would not say lit and I was getting very upset. This video fixed it in about 30 seconds. Thanks for posting this video.
We were about to return our fire pit until we watched this video! Thank you so much, we followed your instructions and it worked!
Fantastic glad I could help
Hero!!! I am the best son in law after this video 🤣
This worked perfectly! Thought it might have been the thermocouple or even the flux capacitor!
Simple fix - thanks!!
This video was one of the most helpful videos that RUclips has provided me!🙌🏻
Glad I was able to help!
Thanks Brandon - never would have solved it.
Glad I could help!
Laugh at me. Tried this fix, no help. Replaced the entire valve assembly - same problem! Grrr! Turned out, you were right all along! Tightened the connector nut you pointed out tighter even than my first attempt - problem solved!
dang man im sorry you had to do all that! im just glad the video was able to point you in the right direction because this was extremely frustrating for me
@@BrandonActionJackson Well, thank you, is all I wanted to say!
Perfect solution this fixed my issue. The vendor had no clue thanks for the tip
THANK YOU - I spent almost 2 hours trying to get our new fire pit to stay lit. you solved it for us.... Thank you!
So glad I could help. Please give this video a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel
Useful, stumbled across the issue... If you have a separate igniter and flame adjustable knob...be sure to push in the knob, not the ignition button. While this video is clear, instruction booklets aren't.
Was hopeful but didn’t seem to work for me. Any other thoughts?
Wow! Thank you. Mine was exactly like your example. I was basically ready to just junk it. Can't thank you enough!!!
Saved us lugging our fire table and chairs back to costco. Thanks.
Glad I was able to help!
Thank you!!!! Simple fix that saved me from dumping it!
I’m still in shock this is all it was. Thank you, sir!
Thank you! I was not excited about trying to box this thing up for a return. Your instructions fixed my fire pit table!
Appears to have fixed my 1 day old fire pit. Thank
Thaaaannnnkkkkk you! What a dumb and easy fix! We almost just bought a new one because we couldn't figure it out. Feel like I should buy you a beer, I'm going to enjoy a glass of whiskey and cigar around the fire tonight!
Matt R glad I was able to help. I’ve gotten a lot of similar feedback because of this fix. If you feel the need to buy me a beer and you shop on amazon click on the affiliate link in the description. If you do that I’ll get a small percentage of anything you were to order within 24hrs. Once Again glad I could help
Spot on, brother! Thank you! Happy wife this evening!!!🎉
Glad I could help you out sir!
Amazing! My exact problem and the exact solution! Was literally browsing for a new Firepit. You rock!
Amazing glad I could help
Looks like you saved another firepit!! We had to tape the knob in tight to keep it from going out. Sure enough that screw was finger tight. Tightened ‘er up and now we’re burnin perfect!! 🔥🔥
Thank you so much for posting this!! It used to be so frustrating. Now it works like a charm!
Glad I could help!

You saved the day - 5/16 wrench to the rescue!
Sweet! We inherited a fire pit and I've never owned one ... so all it took was learning I needed to hold down the knob for 20 seconds :)
Yet another person you helped. Thank you
Glad I helped! Always love the positive comments
Worked! Thanks a bunch! Mine was all the way loose.
Thanks so much. This fixed my problem!! It was well presented and easy to follow.

Dude you’re a fricken genius. Works perfectly now.
Glad I was able to help sir!
Mine is already extremely tight, still won't stay on
Same here
Same here
I installed a new thermocouple on mine. Took me like 10 mins max
@@juansreef4177 and issue us resolved?
Mine was loose but once tightened still wouldn’t stay lit. The fix then is to hold in the knob in during the lighting stage for 30-40 seconds. This will ensure your thermocouple(safety gas shut off device) will properly heat up to keep your valve to stay open keeping the gas flowing and flame on. Also if you have rocks or glass in the area of the thermocouple flame holder area (square heat shield by flame holder in fire area) use a long screw driver or stick to move the rocks or glass away from the area. That will help it heat up a but quicker and keep gas / flame flowing. Good Luck. These procedures fixed mine after frustration with this fire pit. now its good to go!👍🏻
Wow! That was easy!! It did the trick. You Rock! Saved me all hassle and expense. Big Thanks
Glad I could help! Enjoy it over the holiday weekend
Yes, exactly the problem I had. Fixed! Thank you.
You saved me a HUGE headache! Thank you!
Thanks so much. Works exactly as you said on Hampton Bay Summerfield. Was ready to drag this thing and all its boxes back to the store.
I’m starting to believe they are all made in the same place either that or thermocouples vibrate loose during transportation
