Life saver!!!! What an easy fix. As a side note - our model (which looks exactly like the one in the video) had TWO nuts. First one was fine - second one is the one that needed tightened. We almost gave up when first nut was ok and then my husband spotted the second nut a few inches from the first - and that one needed tightened! Just thought I’d mention in case it helps anyone else.

My exact problem. Found this video and was completely stoked to go tighten it up and get the flame to stay. Unfortunately, Even after tightening, as long as I hold the button in, I have flame; as soon as I let go, still goes out. But I appreciate the video, can't blame you for my cursed luck.

I figured it works like my gas furnace with my home, and I needed a thermal coupler. After seeing your video, I said Screw it. It's worth a check. If I told you it had literally a 1/16th or 1/8th rotation of looseness. It's been 10 minutes, and it works perfectly!

Mine was loose but once tightened still wouldn’t stay lit. The fix then is to hold in the knob in during the lighting stage for 30-40 seconds. This will ensure your thermocouple(safety gas shut off device) will properly heat up to keep your valve to stay open keeping the gas flowing and flame on. Also if you have rocks or glass in the area of the thermocouple flame holder area (square heat shield by flame holder in fire area) use a long screw driver or stick to move the rocks or glass away from the area. That will help it heat up a but quicker and keep gas / flame flowing. Good Luck. These procedures fixed mine after frustration with this fire pit. now its good to go!👍🏻

Thanks so much. Works exactly as you said on Hampton Bay Summerfield. Was ready to drag this thing and all its boxes back to the store.

I’m starting to believe they are all made in the same place either that or thermocouples vibrate loose during transportation
