    In Xenoblade 3 you can find entire colonies, quest lines and characters through your exploration that are totally optional. I don't think emptiness is really the game's weakness especially if you are collecting ingredients for the best gems. These secret passages you mentioned often harbor enemies (that you avoided apparently😂) with items you need for these gems. The canisters often have accessories you don't have a chance to buy till later or even unique ones. Anyway I think the game's biggest weakness is that the combat is very automatic and if you go out of your way to do side quests the game is easy and the combat is mindless after about the first ten hours. I only ever lost a battle because some giant beast twenty levels ahead of me happened to catch me when I was exploring. The exploration in this game was my favorite thing even if the rewards didn't seem amazing to some players.

      My only problem with 3 is the tank aggro. When I was trying to level all the classes on everyone I realized how few tanks can actually keep aggro. At least in 2 you can take control of the tank for more dps and later on mythra just becomes unkillable and even later on you can permanently cc bosses to death so it's not a big of a deal

    Good video, and happy you are into trails. It’s one of the few JRPGs series these days that are able to provide games at a good pace while adding enough new to keep them engaging (for the most part).

  • @BradleyonYT
    @BradleyonYT 20 дней назад

    Honestly, I think the 'Trails' games (incl most recent) are PRETTY GOOD about their voice acting and the only critique i'd make is that the difficulty settings for the traditional 'command/turn battles' Because anything other than Nightmare or Hard allows one to literally win regardless of thought/decision/input. I can understand not wanting a large XP grind curve (i personally don't mind it - that's a trope I enjoy when games have good battle systems) but yeah my only complaint would be that the majority of difficulty settings could be won just guessing/spamming moves each turn.

  • @bionic_batman
    @bionic_batman Месяц назад +1

    Encouter rate in SoA on GC is not even that bad. It is comparable to other JRPGs with random encounters. Plus battles are almost always over in 1 or 2 turns. Also you have tons of options to almost avoid random battles altogether, but that is more towards the end of the game

    This whole list is valid but the definitive answer here is absolutely Xenogears disc 2. Had disc 2 been to the same quality as disc 1, Xenogears may have been the single greatest JRPG of all time, and it would certainly be a top 5 in any objective discussion. Regrettably, that’s not what happened and it will forever be a footnote that’s still very good but on the outside looking in at the best of the best.

  • @goldsnake90
    @goldsnake90 Месяц назад +2

    Xenoblade Chronicles 3 has an ever bigger flaw: you need to learn classes you need a different kind of experience from the one you need to level up and it's proportional to the level difference between you and the enemy.
    If the enemy had a higher level than yours, you get more, if the enemy is 5 level or more lower than you get nothing.
    While you get plenty of experience to level up from exploring and doing subquests.
    And the game constantly reminds you to spend even bonus experience on top of that, meaning that you can get easily overleveled, and if you are you don't learn classes.
    So, not only exploration in Xenoblade 3 is bad, when in the previous chapter was pretty nice, but the game PUNISHES you for exploring.

    Final Fantasy XV still lives rent free in my head by how many issues it has. It's insane how bad it feels overall when it comes to a "finished" product which it wasn't at all even after many, many updates. They should have never scrapped the original Versus-XIII concept and ran with that instead.

    With Super Mario RPG being easy, I think that's a good thing because it's introducing new players into the RPG genre that might not be acquainted with it. For the older fans of the game (that grew up on it), it may of been their first RPG that introduced them into the genre back then.

    Dragon Quest XI, it’s *not* open world as DQI -DQIII were, or semi/quasi open world as DQIV - DQIX were. With early entries, you *could* do things out of order *if* possible, but with DQXI, other than side quests, you have do things in order.

      I'm playing Dragon Quest 11 now and I agree. I want to explore, but everytime I do, I get stopped by broken bridges, landslides, giant boulders, soldiers guarding things, closed doors etc. It's happened so often that I just gave up and go straight to the questmarker because it's no use to try anything else anyway. Though I did get to a point now where I'm collecting orbs, and I think I could have swapped two of them around and I have a ship so I can visit islands (on which I couldn't do anything because I didn't have a key until I progressed a bit more). So it's a very linear game. Which isn't bad per se, but I'm a bit sad because there's potential for exploration but I get stopped from doing so.

    Most of the FF’s but probably FF9 and FF4:The After Years more than the rest - New Game Plus or better new game plus. With stat gain per level tied to equipment, Excalibur 2 for FF9. For FF4:TAY multiple characters use a weapon where you only get one copy of the best version of that weapon, and items reset on the NG+ (that only exists on the 3D version)

      I have two:
      The game is too short. With all the content done, you probably are a little above 20h or so, which is very low for a JRPG. It could be longer with more content.
      Characters are tad imbalanced. Sure, you can beat the game with every character combination, but Crono, Ayla and Robo are miles better than Frog or Marle. So a character balance could improve the game.

    • @thomasbruestle6826

Ni No Kuni 2 also somewhat has this issue, you are given MMO sidequests like quests in order to progress the story. Wasnt a problem previous games, but i saw comments that its much better on daybreak 2. Shall see when it arrives for us bleps.
    edit: Xenoblade 2 biggest problem is the FUCKING fps. 15-25 fps range is amasingly annoying. Combat is so slow anyway, but now the animations are slow aswell because your fps just dropped 10 fps. I believe the day it can be properly emulated on PC, i will truly enjoy it. Now i have only enjoyed it completely once, started few times again but always stop plaing because of the fps problem.
