That was the best NightWish reaction, it was right on point. NightWish songs ARE a story. I am 70 years old, my time was Cream, Led Zeppelin, Uriah Heep, etc. and NONE of them sound as good as NightWish.

Try Dark Chest of Wonders, the show opener at Wacken 13. Then Storytime, Ghost River & Song of Myself. They get a bit harder in that order & the breadth of experience you’ll get on NW between them is amazing. 🤙🔥
My suggestion for your next Nightwish reaction: "Shudder Before the Beautiful", Wembley Arena. I love the song. Beautiful melody, but a powerful song too. Floor is Floor again, but Tuomas, keys, and Emppu, guitar, make me smile with their interaction in this song every time. I'm trying not to spoil it, so that's enough said!

'I want my tears back' Nightwish live in Buenos Aires is a fun one. Their South american fans are nuts for them, And they bring a lot of energy with them that the band can use to bounce of off. The track itself is a mix. It's about a person who got hurt by a loved one. In anger the person demands her tears back. There are little happy (folk) moments in the song to imply the person is able again to enjoy life as well. But when they other is around all that's said is: I want my tears back! (and here is your collecter's item GI Joe. Sorry, Barky ate one of his legs.) Ok, last part was my imagination taking me places. lol

Nightwish puts in so much effort for the recording and mixing of these live concerts, they really are the best choices for Nightwish listening IMO. Even on Spotify, I listen to only live versions for songs that have them. More live Nightwish please!

Greetings from the central U.S.... another of the NW Army checking in & subbing. Welcome to the beginning of an unpredictable, truly incredible, magical journey. You won't be disappointed. (btw, you mentioned thinking you'd reacted to Ghost Love Score... nope, or at least it's not uploaded to your channel. The 3 there are this one, Noise & How's the Heart).
Sticking with live versions is a very good idea with Nightwish (sadly, no live performances yet from Human :||: Nature, apart from the acoustic version of How's the Heart).
Since you are probably into the heavier/faster ones, here are some recommendations on that note:
- Yours is an Empty Hope (Wembley 2015). Yes, it's Floor doing the growls.
- Dark Chest of Wonders (Wacken 2013). Energetic opener for that epic concert.
- Devil and the Deep Dark Ocean (Buenos Aires 2018). Just when you thought you had the song figured out, they throw you a curve ball. And just pause on Floor when that last chord rings out :-)
- Romanticide (Wacken 2013). Pretty straightforward, fast and energetic, with some additional epicness thrown in near the end.
- Song of Myself (Wacken 2013). How to turn a heavy breakdown into a verse.

And since you asked for other bands: Do "ReVamp - Disdain - live at Graspop". Yes, it's Floor, yes, she's blonde, yes, she totally owns the stage (as usual) and yes, she's mixing opera and growling :-)

Storytime Live at Wacken is great Of course Ghost Love Score (same show) is the1st of the Big 3 you have popped the lid now ! Its a very deep rabbit hole and a very magical ride strap in and hold on tight Nightwish Army Incoming
I like the way your coming at this. You did Noise and Hows the heart from the new album. Great songs but Tribal and Endlessness from that album might be a better intro for you into the Nightwish universe.
The NW albums are all great but live is where its at with NW. The whole deal gets supercharged when they take to the stage and there are so many epics to chose from it will blow your mind.
Stay away from 'Poet and the Pendulum' and 'The Greatest show on earth' for now. The NW army love it when a reactor builds up to them with about 10 songs under your belt and you get a feel for what the band is really about.
You have 4 major concerts to work from. Wacken 2013. Tampere 2015, Wembley 2015 and Buenos Aires 2018. There is also some amazing stuff from the first singer Tarja on 'End of an era' Live 2005.
So many songs to chose from but i will go with both of their show openers,' Dark chest of wonders' from Wacken live 2013 and 'Shudder before the beautiful' live at Wembley arena 2015.

I really like these song choices! I would prefer the Wacken 2013 version of Dark Chest of Wonders even though the Tampere one is great as well. The Wacken 2013 version has that certain energy because it's the first song. It's a perfect way to start the concert. Weak Fantasy at Tampere 2015 is fantastic. Both of these songs are on my list of favourites.

Beste Zangers Just in case (which I can really recommend) you're going to do "Beste Zangers" make sure you take the clips posted by "jenniezelf" on RUclips as she has also included the talking / interviews before and after with english subtitles. The concept of the show is, that on one day all singers sing a song for one of them.
It's a song that is by that singer or a song that means a lot for him / her. So it is very interesting to get to know the story behind each song. And it will help to understand the reactions of the other singers. Floor is singing there in German, Dutch, Spanis and English. Her "Phanom of the Opera" duet with Henk Poort is legendary.

* Backstory for „Poet and the Pendulum“
Tuomas (the keyboarder and songwriter) was in depression after the split from their first singer Tarja. He was in the position to either commit suicide in real real life or to write a song about it and die within that song. Luckily he choose the latter option. He is the poet, "killed" by the pendulum. And afterwards there is darkness, silence and just a fading heartbeat. It gives me a shiver every time.
As this song is so emotional for him all the others have an eye on him. He even had his the vocals turned off in his in ears.

A band of a completely different genre you probably haven‘t heard yet is „Lord of the Lost“ from Hamburg / Germany. Their singer Chris Harms is also changing between beautiful clear, dark singing and grunts&growls. They are great musicians and released beside their regular albums three acoustic „Swan Songs“ longplayer with a classic ensemble.

I just love this band and the boys themselves. They are so cool, crazy, kind and friendly. I did shoot them several times as concert photographer including backstage documentaries. No other band I shot got so many photos awarded, as they are such an incredible live band.

Alan Foster Haha. Jukkasjärvi and Esrange are villages in Swedish Lapland an they are located several hundreds of kilometres north from us. In Finnish Lapland there are no wolves because the reindeer herders kill them all.
