wellbutrin helped me SO MUCH - i struggled with really bad hypervigilance and intrusive thoughts of self violence, and both of those pretty much vanished overnight when I started wellbutrin. it's like it hard reset my nervous system so I could actually start living. I'll always be grateful for wellbutrin working when literally nothing else did 🙏

I literally JUST started taking bupropion for depression. I had researched all antidepressants for literally a year before deciding… I feel that it was detrimental to my mental health to do this, in hindsight. I was trying to find one without certain chemical Ingredients that I don’t want, such as titanium dioxide that they use for color, when in the meantime, I was suffering mentally due to some horrific life experiences. I finally said screw the chemicals I need help! I have been taking Wellbutrin for 2 weeks exactly and am beginning to feel some of the good effects. I think you so much for this video Conor and it couldn’t have come at a better time! I love when I find those videos that I feel were made specifically for me ❤ xoxo

This is an excellent video. I had an almost identical experience as you. I'm also like you when it comes to my trust of the pharmaceutical industry/business. I'm off of Wellbutrin for now. With me, it only worked if it was brand Wellbutrin not the Bupropion generic. My body is super sensitive to medication of any kind. When I first was prescribed it, it was like a miracle switch. It was almost like a reset for my brain. It's true, at least for me, after a a time it does lose its efficacy. I have continued with my support systems and have had slip ups, however I don't feel the need to go back on. It also, unknowingly treated my ADHD.

I too have suffered from depression on and off for much of my life. It was triggered by the death of my twin brother when I was 8. It is no surprise that you were addicted to alcohol and drugs given your body's desire to try and find some sort of equilibrium. I also suffer from ADHD which can go hand in hand with depression. Thanks for sharing your story. It takes a lot of courage to do so.

I got prescribed Wellbutrin for “depression” but more for my ADHD because they don’t want me taking stimulants anymore (I had a TIA with high blood pressure in November 2023).
Tried the Wellbutrin and became an absolute zombie within 2-3 hours after taking it. Tried it a couple more days. Same results and monitoring my BP, it went up about 15-20. Decided it was not for me.

Connor, I appreciate you sharing this. It is healthy to question. There are many of us within the US/western health system who also strongly question treatments and what the 'experts' say is ideal, mandatory, or a 'one size fits all' for the greater good.' When you're told to not question, or are shamed when you have skepticism... that is what a religious cult does. Thank you for being authentic, especially during these recent times. My doctors did not believe I felt relieve in a few days. there was a moment they stopped providing it to me because I told them that I do not take in months in a row. I take it for the weeks/months I feel I need it. The nice thing about Wellbutrin is that you start to feel normal but not drugged. I am only scared for long term effects.

I so freaking appreciate you being so transparent with us, the depression stigma needs to be eliminated. Just...NORMALZE EMOTIONS. I've struggled with depression for the past 10ish years and since November I've been on Effexor which is an SNRI. I use in conjunction with morning light, meditation, cold showers, nofap, etc and my mental health is the best it's been in years. I took it short term to pull myself out of depression. After about 3 months I was able to come off of it. In the beginning taking it made me feel worse. Couldn’t function at all but that did improve. Personally I knew once I was out of the depths of the depression I could manage the rest more appropriately. My only unhealthy habit is smoking cigarettes, off and on sodas. I cannot speak about chronic long term depression. Mine began when within two wks of the birth of my first child after an emergency c-section I was sick in the hospital for a wk. then home alone with a newborn with zero help after a major surgery. Within the two wks after her birth my best friend passed away in an ATV wreck, and two other dear people to me passed. All back to back. It was such a challenging time and I got little to no support from my exhusband. I had to take matters into my own hands and despite my efforts to avoid medication it got to the one year mark without improvement. I had to do something. So I sucked it up and took it. I felt like you. Like I didn’t need it. I didn’t need meds. I’m stronger and better. But unfortunately that at times is to our detriment. I took it until I felt comfortable enough to go at it on my own again. And I did it. It’s ok to reach out for help and it’s ok to take meds. Doesn’t make you less of a person or less strong.

SO MUCH respect for you and for sharing all of this. It truly is such a complex situation to navigate because you're right - we don't FULLY understand it, and it's a different situation for every person. Being intelligently wary of the system, but also realizing where it *may* have it's place in some contexts for some people is massive to see, and a great amount of intelligent nuance to hold. Sometimes we do all we can, and then we need support and to show that, to advocate for that and to work to remove the stigma of that - it's a great service to offer the world. I am so glad you're feeling better, and that you were willing to share this - hopefully it will help in the movement towards destigmatization and inclusivity!

I still sometimes think about that but I try to remind myself that if taking antidepressants is what I need then I would do that to take care of myself. I never thought I was anxious and depressed until I went to a Natural path for another issue. After an hour and a half consultation, she prescribed Lavender oil to help calm me. It worked immediately, I think because of my sensitivity to all things in life. During this time, I was able to do things I couldn't do before, as you mentioned. I think it's important to practice new behaviors during this time, in order to build new neuro pathways in the brain, establishing new ways of responding to life. I am grateful. I have had severe depression with suicidal ideation and anxiety since childhood. At 73, I found out I have a gene mutation (MTHFR) that prevents my body from metabolizing certain vitamins (B12 & Folate). Symptoms of this gene mutation include anxiety and depression. Got started on the correct forms of these vitamins, and I have never felt better! It's hard to describe but I feel like I'm on an even keel for the first time in my life.
I've also been on Wellbutrin and I have to add that it saved my life. Literally. It was exactly what I needed during a crisis. But the vitamins allowing my body to utilize vitamins they way nature intended has been a game changer.
I would encourage everyone experiencing depression to insist on a comprehensive medical workup to rule out physical, metabolic or chemical imbalances or other underlying causes of your depression.
God bless everyone here. I hope you all get exactly the right treatment that you need.
    ❤🙏🏻

To bring some balance to this discussion, Wellbutrin can be very dangerous, especially for those who have a high strung nervous system and extreme anxiety - remember that it's a stimulant. I was prescribed it as a teenager, and it caused me severe panic attacks and a number of seizures. Furthermore it caused me permanent neurological damage, which has caused some cognitive difficulties and a significant tremor even now, 20 years after quitting the medication.
Doctors never warn you about these side effects - they never acknowledged them until I was already brain damaged, and yes, Wellbutrin and other antidepressants are safe for some people, but A LOT of users suffer long-lasting brain damage, sexual dysfunction, metabolic dysfunction, increased suicidality, panic attacks, emotional deadening, and many other horrible effects. Please do your research - and not just from mainstream medical sources - before consenting to put these substances in your body. You may regret it for the rest of your life. I do.

It does take longer for some and some might need 300mg a day. But I think this one can transform so many lives it should be handed out like candy, at least one pill to anyone with those symptoms. I had plenty or reluctance also but these conditions are far more unhealthy than the pill will be for most, and very hard to move by more wholistic means.

I really pray that this works for me too. I have been taking for almost a month now and I still can't tell whether this is working for me or not but I certainly still have the insomnia you speak of. It is so bad that I have to use zzzquil in order to sleep because without it, I don't sleep for more than 4 hours. It has been challenging for sure.

I like Wellbutrin XL. I've seen so many negative reviews on this medication before starting the treatment. Everyone have different side effects and you have to try it before assuming it will harm you.

@@swiftymcgarnagle4567 I agree. After reading the reviews at one point I was afraid to take it. Then I found out two of my friends have been taking it for years. I decided fuck it let's try it. I did have some side effects but they were not horrible like I've read from others online. Best to just try it and see how it works for you.

In the beginning, wellbutrin can work fast, by bringing on some energy, motivation, and less depression. However, after being on it for quite a while, it’s lost most of its effectiveness. I’ve asked for an increase, but the doctor is not comfortable going beyond 300mg due to increase in seizure risks. Still on it but had to add another med. The med that worked so well for me for bad fatigue, was Provigil, which is a smart drug initially made for narcolepsy. It became so expensive. Maybe I’ll try it again one day.

my therapist and i are discussing wellbutrin as an option for me, for im suffering with GAD, Adhd and depressive symptoms. i will say i never took any medication for my mental health and im really scared and nervous i always look at the side effects of medications and think about all the things that could go wrong or what its gonna do to my brain. i feel like im in a constant battle with myself wondering if i really need medication. idk i feel so lost at the moment. as someone with health anxiety im scared to take medication but i wanna get better it’s just been so hard!! any suggestions?? has anyone been through what im describing??

Like you said man been sober for 1.5 years and was riding the self care, anti establishment, i can do it im strong mindset but its just not serving me as my depression is reaching bad points yet again. Thanks

Not to be a downer but I’ve been on Wellbutrin XL 300mg for 20 days now and my depression is just as bad as ever, and my anxiety is off the chart. I really hoped this medication would be a breakthrough for me but sadly not so. Suicidal thoughts, depression, and waking up with anxiety daily, I honestly think I was better before the medication. I know everyone reacts differently to medications but my experience has not been positive.

I was put on Wellbutrin back in 2019. It was an escalating roller coaster of anxiety for me. From point of waking to point of sleeping (and a lot of disrupted sleep), I was in survival mode with super high anxiety and nonstop panic attacks back to back. After two months I isolated the cause and realized I wasn't about to have my head explode like those people in the movie Scanners. Stopped taking it and went back to my humble, depressed self which is a far more preferable experience than what Wellbutrin put me through. lol

I was on a bunch of medicines for about 4 years recently (kinda) fluoxetine first, then citalopram, then sertraline, and then also an antipsychotic called Rispiridone. I gained weight and iwas totally sedated from it all, i couldnt function properly. And in 2020 when i jusr moved into my own 1bedroom home, and covid hit, everything felt rock bottom for me. My depression and anxiety didnt come from nothing though, as i had an extremely rough childhood. Bullying, domestic violence from parents, emotional neglect, being a target for a narcissist to pick on, religious trauma. I hated my meds to be honest, they didnt really help. So i decided like you to just stop taking the meds (i was on sertraline and rispiridone at that point), i got myself into a programme called Woman of Worth and i learned that i had abundant self worth, and i was given tools to use in a practical sense. I learned that because i had worth i can make decisions about the kinds of people i wanted in my life, i gave myself and others boundaries on how i wanted to be treated, and spoken to, i learned time management. I learned about self care. And i think during that time i was watching the youtube channel you had with brittany and i can honestly say that that channel you had with her contributed to a major shift and spiritual awakening for me. So thank you so much for that. As someone who is monogomous i still learned a lot from yall. Thanks for sharing your journey with us, its very inspiring. And i too can agree that life has been better for me since i got off those meds i was taking. ❤❤❤ much love to you conor, youre great! ❤ from a New Zealander
