Such high quality tennis when Muguruza and Halep were in tip top form. Hopefully they'll regain their form and have more of these stellar matches in the future.
Weird coincidence - Two former world number one's, two French open and Wimbledon champions. Garbine winning her two in two respective years that is in 2016 and 2017. And then Simona won her two grand slams in the two respective years them coming in 2018 and 2019. And she repeated the similar feat as that of Garbine winning the French open a year earlier than winning the Wimbledon title. Two great grand slam champions went toe to toe in this match but Garbine deserved to win this match because she took more risks than her opponent by having a lot more variety and coming into the net which is a rarity these days in the women's game. Nothing against Simona, she's my favourite player of this generation she choked in the heat I guess. But nonetheless two amazing players and this easily could have been the final match.
I dont think she choked or she might have but if you notice even in these highlights she was having pain in her left thigh. I think thay contributed a bit in her loss. I dont know why she did not take an MTO for it.
Two amazing champions going toe to toe. Muguruza is such a warm athlete. They may not air kiss at the net, but the respect between the two showed at the net. At Roland Garros 2018, in her semi-final loss to Halep, Muguruza in her post-match conference did praise Halep by mentioning that she was the strong favorite to win the final as she was wearing the face of the champion. Still think Halep gave up mentally towards the end of the second set. But nonetheless an amazingly even contest. And Martinez is working wonders for Muguruza. And Cahill doing a wonderful job with Halep.
Women's tennis is losing so much popularity that a GREAT semi-final between two formers world n1 and GS champions is half empty in AUSTRALIA, for me, one of the Best crowds. Shame
Totally agree with you. Of course there were a lot of nerves going through a player's mind on a big stage like this that made the player not willing to say sorry. But the winning fist pump is far far far from okay IMO.
Cody Hurley oh god, that match was terrible. Both of them were making so many errors, I don’t even know what kind of number 1 Barty is. VIKA AZARENKA, PLEASE COME BACK
If Simona defeated Garbine here, I bet the outcome of the finals would be different. But Garbine was just too good in this semi, showing hunger to win another GS, which is really nice to see her back at the top. Unfortunately, she did not do well in Dubai and Doha.
I was a little disappointed in dubai because she could reach at least the semis but in doha she was tired and still played a good match against Ash. You can't always win🤷♂️😅
It was not to be that simona to play the final.. at 6-5 she had to set point and again in tiebreak another 2 set points, in the second set she had break, and before again break points but muguruza served that aces, after she had again set points... if simona play the final i think sofia kenin never could beat her in that final... i think muguruza should win the final..
Halep is definitely an aggressive defensive player. Shes WAY more feistier and aggressive than Wozniacki or Kerber whom are other defensive players. Halep has got some spice and a temper, and it shows even w her over-the-top-grunting. She just doesnt possess that power at her height.
Skank * Sinatra I agree compared to Woz she’s more aggressive. I would like to see her volley more to closer a point. Maybe occasionally hit a forehand with less spin and more flat.
I wish this had been the championship match. Fantastic game.
Such high quality tennis when Muguruza and Halep were in tip top form. Hopefully they'll regain their form and have more of these stellar matches in the future.
It's been unfortunate for both, specially Garbine.
Garbine is now happily retired

But there was still a pretty large crowd.
It was above 40 degrees celcius out there and some left after Ash Barty lost to Kenin
@@hithere9768 true it was hot but honestly people sat their asses down for Djokovic and Federer.
Also, attendance was suspect throughout the whole tournament from the recent fires happening across the country.
@@deusexmachina9776 Djokovic vs Federer had 36 GS combined, that's truly not a fair comparison if you are trying to make your point.
GABI SHOULDVE WON THE FINAL.
She was overwhelmed by Kenin in the finals.
She was very tired due to lack of play 🤔
What a fight that was!!! Beautiful!
great match!
playing always like this, Garbine would be world number one
Cada vez que tengo la oportunidad de ver este y los otros partidos de Muguruza pienso que ella debió ganar el trofeo de campeona del Australia Open 2020. Pero bueno ya será para otra oportunidad.
Great match from Muguruza!
I love to watch the battle between these two tigresses
Garbine Muguruza, she's a big girl with big games. A big banger at heart.
Hahaha NO
Muguruza is baaack!
If she is back who won the Australian open
Diane Bennett some lucky girl won😒

I could cry
Halep won many points by net but she didnot never make sorry gesture but winning hand. She is on the way to be like her fans day by day
Totally agree with you. Of course there were a lot of nerves going through a player's mind on a big stage like this that made the player not willing to say sorry. But the winning fist pump is far far far from okay IMO.
Yeah, I’m a Halep fan but that break point at 4-5 she definitely should’ve apologized.
Ahhhhhhhhhhhh Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh..... great match. Well done, Mugu.
Both the women's semi final ended with the same score:7-6,7-5
Lol I laughed the first time I saw it 🤣
Sim 💙
Likes you.…Simona💪🎾❤😘
Woa.... Happy MuguruZa
Omg there grunts are so similar🤣
How many set points did Simona have in total in that 1st set? I counted 7 or 8.
I know she had more than Muguruza and still lost it.
Skank * Sinatra Halep had 4 set points
Is Muguruza related to Fernando Verdasco ? May be distant cousin.. Very similar lookwise.
Halep is a master of chocking
Mulher, ou você é de dois tipos:
Ou você de aquece, e espera.
Ou ela aproveita o início, e pontua.
Qual delas é você?
Wow
Where's ex-hl of Semifinal between Kenin and Barty???It's so special!!!😕😒🤔🤔🤔
The quality of tennis was way lower in that match than this one.
Cody Hurley oh god, that match was terrible. Both of them were making so many errors, I don’t even know what kind of number 1 Barty is. VIKA AZARENKA, PLEASE COME BACK
💕💕
Muguruza 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Halep needs to be more aggressive on big points. you see that tie break??? damn.
Then had she been more aggressive and still lost, you and those who sing that tune would change it to "she should not have been that aggressive."
Markus E she’s hardly ever the more aggressive player.
Halep is definitely an aggressive defensive player. Shes WAY more feistier and aggressive than Wozniacki or Kerber whom are other defensive players. Halep has got some spice and a temper, and it shows even w her over-the-top-grunting. She just doesnt possess that power at her height.

Kevin Smith to be fair, there’s no way she’s gonna hit the ball harder than muguruza. Muguruza is taller and weighs more (not an insult)
Halep: aaaaah aaaaah aaaaah Muguruza: aaaaah aaaah aaaaaaaaaaah come on!
Venezuela
I was so rooting for Simona cuz Muguruza sure came out of nowhere!!!
Simona needs to hit less of topspin forehands and more of flat powerful strokes.
Muguruza is 30 lbs heavier and 6 inches taller than halep so of course she won't be as strong.
Halep is excellent. But OVERRATED.
Happily, Muguruza lost in final.
