The UMass Campus, Library, and Campus Center

All of the Civic Initiative's programs take place on the UMass Amherst Campus. This video will provide you with the basic layout of campus and explain some of the most important resources for you.

I liked UMass/Amherst. I took classes here consistently and used the DuBois Library a great deal and socialized with friends at the SU while I was a student at Hampshire. I collaborated with UMass students on theater productions, film projects and got to know some faculty members very well (one of whom even sat on my Division III Senior Thesis Committee at Hampshire; and was one of my MFA Program recommendations). I got into an MFA program at UMass/Amherst, and the university was the first of my grad school choices to accept me. I ended up going elsewhere for my MFA eventually (needed a change of pace from the valley back to an urban environment, and the other program I ended up choosing gave me more grants and fellowships), but I always enjoyed UMass/Amherst and the time I spent there. The classes I took, the Theater & Cinema Studies departments are top notch, the students I got to know and collaborate with, the cultural events I attended, and the energy and diversity on campus.UMass is definitely a vital resource for the Pioneer Valley and I am glad I got to take advantage of that as a Five-College student.
