That's for sure. I wasn't totally surprised to hear that the new smaller drone does not perform as well as the other drone. But the shots are beautiful.
Hay Matt, If I remember right your brakes are hydraulic. Remember you where able to attach you brakes from your trailer with the the hydraulic connector to use one brake lever?
Wayne is right about the brakes. You need to replace the pads before they get to low or they score the rotors(disk?) and than you have to replace the whole thing. Sometimes it is just cheaper to replace the whole mess when it gets to a certain point if you don't look after it. As for hydraulic they are heavier and you would have to replace everything to change to them. They have a reservoir with hydraulic fluid in them and they have to be kept topped up and there can't be air bubbles in the lines or (crash) I have hydraulic brakes on my mountain bike and they were a PIA on ultra rides. I managed up to 600 k with them but after all that I swore I would not use them again because you can't adjust them on the ride if anything gets bent out of true. The mechanical brakes you have are your best bet and when I figure out how to maintain mine I will be a much happier camper. Especially when you get caught in the middle of NOWHERE with no bike mechanic along. Good luck and Ja Yoe!
The custard apple can be so sweet that we once got used to eating it instead of desert for the whole 2-week trip. The reason they are not exported is because they are very delicate and have to be eaten within hours of plucking. When fully ripe, the fruit falls apart. Does not travel well.
Those custard apples are very popular here in Spain, although they are smaller and have a smoother skin. They're called chirimoyas and they're delicious. Wikipedia says that they are "generally thought to be native to Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Bolivia".
ok about the bike parts . most shops don't keep many break caliper as inventory because there are too many type of breaks and too many brand here and shimano /SRAM are renew every year . so mostly bike shops just order them when customer needed. as for Eastern TAIWAN ... things are just like that . so .... I know that MERIDA store and Giant Store .
Gota Love it. "NO Don't have IT" (What ever that is), Then Here's the "Giant" store, closed on Monday........... as you hit your head on the wall, bang bang bang, just like Charlie Brown in the Peanuts cartoon. This is when you buy a beer, sit down and watch the sunset. Tomorrow has got to be better, yup. Love the videos.
I am betting Matt that there is nothing wrong with the calipers themselves , they are Sram avid BB7s . You just need to replace the pads and be sure the caliper is aligned and adjusted to the rotor which i am guessing are probably scored from the metal on metal contact from the worn pads . The spring has squeal tabs which indicates pads are getting low , the spring bent because you took the pads past there replacement point . Best to find a good shop . Jayoe ..
The problem with your cable activated disc brakes could be set up and cable adjustment or bent rotas...I've switched our touring bikes to hydraulic disc brakes and find that they are more effective and virtually maintenance and faff free. When we cycled in Mongolia I packed a spare cable disc brake as back up but stuck with the hydraulic brakes. I think you will appreciate the increase in effectiveness of hydraulic brakes.Cable brakes have to be set up just right to work well.
Most cycle tourers don't recommend hydraulic brakes (disc or others) for one main reason: brake line punctures. If an hydraulic line develops a leak, you might not know it until you squeeze the brake levers hard -and experience total brake failure. Plus, you'll need to carry a bottle of brake fluid everywhere, and find a way to avoid spillage. Plus, they can be serviced only on big city bike shops -not ideal for a world traveller. Not to mention that since the HPV Scorpion is a foldable trike, everytime you fold it you risk having hydraulic brake line damage.
Stick with mechanical brakes. But based on your last video about your brakes, the caliper might misaligned, due the uneven wear, and that's an easy fix. Also check to make sure your brake cable isn't sticking. And the spring should come with a set of brake pads.
+the JaYoe Nation Not that I am aware of, I think the new Mavic 2 Pro is your answer, it’s a shame to loose a great shot specially when you are pedaling to all those places. I hope you can make space for it! :) I do love all the drone shots with the Air!
Just before you said it, that’s exactly what I was thinking “what is that thing🤔” and why’s it not on a truck and why’s the digger pushing it around it’s going to take a long long time to go anywhere quickly😂 I wonder why the drone is so slow, everything is relative, the one you’ve got is just a miniaturised version of the one you had🤔 be interesting if you could review that on a gear day as I would like to purchase a drone also for cycling and your expertise of using both versions may help me decide, I don’t want to spend large amounts of cash on something that’s great but moves at a snails pace but the other model is nice and speedy but just to big, taking up storage space.
Benn saving watching your videos the past week,,, I will watch each and everyone them end to end ones life gives me a break to do so : i love watching you and your videos no homo :) JaYoe Rock City
If you will spend some time in Taidung, do check out the place called “Chishang township”. There’s a road in it called “Bo Lang Da Dao”. It has endless rice field view. Just gorgeous.. definitely worth visiting. Taiwanese call this town “the hometown of rice”. Would love to see a drone shot at that place. 池上伯朗大道 958台東縣池上鄉 goo.gl/maps/GbXNALgSfVw
My option on hydraulic, you want it. Yes they are not easily serviceable which looks like a downside. But it isn't, because they don't break. Unless you, I don't know, get in a serious crash or so. They just work so much better it's worth it in my opinion. And they are not nearly as exotic as they used to be. Bike shops in the civilised world should have parts.
It's common for them to say NO, one of the good reason is they either only sells fullbike not components and the other is they not provide service mechanic bike. And it's not only on Taiwan, every chinese descendant bike shop are mostly like that. No No No NOOOOO!!!! Also you might make video about your trike components, so the viewer might give you any suggestion in case you're facing some trike mechanical problem.
Just saw an interesting youtube video about brakes by Myrtle the Turtle ruclips.net/video/PVQ9hVU6xS0/видео.html I have not read all the comments yet but I will be hopefully there is something in there for all of us.
9:40 Because our society is run by corporations. They control what we consume and decisions are solely made on the purpose of profits. The latest NIKE ad campaign is perfect example.
Those shots at 5:45 - WOW
That's for sure.
I wasn't totally surprised to hear that the new smaller drone does not perform as well as the other drone.
But the shots are beautiful.
Loving the longer videos! Thank you!
awesome drown footage wow you can get a good distance with it
13:00 nice rice field green effect....
Love the drone shots of the coast. Bummer on that Giant Bike shop! Ja Yoe!
Really enjoying your trip.
Nice work !

We have those fruits in the Caribbean, the Spanish name is Anon.

Really great video!

Custard apples...I think they are grown throughout South East Asia to Australia. There's a red variety too. :)
Hey Matt in your case is better if you keep your Mechanical discs brakes, they're easy to replace everywhere, stay away from Hydraulic.
custard apple is called soursop or sweetsop in Jamaica. i always mix them up.
So good. The gritty crust is what got me.
The fruit is called Buddha(釋迦) for it looks like the curling hair of Buddha statue.
"Slimey yet satisfying!" Fruit looked nice🤙

Yea. I figured that later. But I still can’t get the damn calipers balanced properly. It’s frustrating.
There is a lot of videos here on the Tube that can walk you through it ..
14:39 Ravel Bolero?
Haha yup. Love that song.

My favorite fruit! It’s 釋迦(shi ja).
加油😀😊😝💞💖💖💖
That thing was a Giant brake caliper.
Matt, wait till you come to Oz,,,,you will have a feast of Custard Apples and sweet Mangoes.
Matt, the Mavic Air has Sport Mode, up to 42 mph, activate that!!!
Yea I know. But in sport mode the camera gets all jerky. It’s useless for me for filming. Is there a setting?

that name in chinese: 釋迦, it's literally the name of Buddha himself! because it resembles the head/hairstyle of Buddha
that was Chinese cleaning way. Sad to think that Taiwan is like that, would of said yeah China, but Taiwan?
unlucky man
Unlucky?
9:40 Because our society is run by corporations. They control what we consume and decisions are solely made on the purpose of profits. The latest NIKE ad campaign is perfect example.
Taiwan should be the last country on Earth where you would have a problem getting parts for your trike.
