The gap between them is really impressive. He just pulled out an weapon with 20 runes infused and the poor dwarves actual record was 6 runes on the Kings legendary Hammer lol
the fun part is that these runes don't actually do anything, they are purely cosmetic on an enchanted weapon, but the dwarves couldn't know that without examining it.
@@WeTheNorthRaptors They're basically the same as regular enchantments. The main factor is that making runic items is really time and skill consuming, while regular magic items are just expensive, but can be produced by almost any spellcaster.
We don't actually know if Ainz's weapon is true runecraft or not. It's an item he bought from Yggdrasil, so the runes are most likely to be purely cosmetic. But it does have a small chance that the runes became true runecraft. After all, Albedo can ride a bicorn in game but can't in the NW because the bicorn's lore came true. Who's to say that runecraft lore can't also come true for Ainz's sword? As for what runes do, they seem to be equal in effectiveness compared to NW enchantments. The key difference is that enchantments have a magic and material cost while runecraft does not, but instead is replaced with a time cost.
Ainz may be mostly bumbling through being an overlord, but he does have his moments where it makes sense why he garners respect. Plus, trying to revive a lost technology has to be more interesting for them to do than grow mushrooms.

they were not number one. Ainz Ooal Gown was the Top DEFENSE Guild, notorious for being unable to successfully raid. They were also known for having the largest collection of World Items in the game, owning eleven known items. The second place guild in this regard only had 3. Amongst the known world Items in Nazarick, we have: 2 of the "Twenty" both of which are unnamed and kept in the treasury (we know one can remove statuses, but Ainz didn't want to use it for Shalltear as a Twenty disappears after use), Avarice and Generosity(the Gauntlets Mare wore, they act as an EXP battery, so that you can store excess EXP for when some needs to be spent for a spell) Billion Blades (unknown effect) Caloric Stone (an extremely rare material made by compiling a vast amount of specific ore, Ainz Ooal Gown actually produced it on accident when stockpiling Celestial Uranium. Could be used to make golems and enhance gear, as well as contact the devs to make a request) Depiction of Nature and Society (a scroll allowing the user to confine an area to an alternate, illusive reality, one of 100 choices. The effects that reality would have are inflicted upon the victims, as if it were real, Aura is seen with this at one point) Ginnungagap (the wand Albedo is seen with, as far as we know, it can break through any form of wall or barrier. Tabula gave it to her without permission, but Ainz let it slide once he realized she had it, as the game was closing down. It can also transform, presumably into a similar form as 3F, the Halberd/Bardiche we see her use in S1) Hygieia's Chalice (unknown effect) The Throne of Kings (The Throne in the throne room of Nazarick, yeah, it's a world item. Gifted for beating The Great Tomb of Nazarick in One Attempt. It is the primary defense and surveillance system of Nazarick, granting multiple layers of protection against information magic while allowing its user to observe the stats of all allies within Nazarick remotely, and oversee movements within, allowing time to prepare as invaders would come through, like in the largest raid upon the guild in history, as well as the more recent invaders of the tomb arc) Momonga's Unnamed Red Orb (That's right. the sphere floating in Ainz's ribs is his world Item. The item itself BELONGS to him, and is his greatest secret. It becomes stronger over time, similar to the item "World Savior", and has a multitude of effects, including one that is apparently rather effective against dragons. We don't know much else, other than using it expends 5 of his levels. He also leaves it in his belly to make people mistake it for a weakpoint.) We have no information on the last two world items. HOWEVER, it is theorized that Rubedo was created from, or IS a world item, which is why Rubedo is the most dangerous being in all of Nazarick. There's another World Item in a bonus volume, but I am unsure of that Volume's canonicity, and it also seems to take place far in the future, where Ainz creates a "New Ainz Ooal Gown" in the New World.
I'm glad that Ainz got to say his trademark perfected "i demand silence" line after Shall tear interrupted him the first time and stole his thunder. Also who else be downbad for Shalltear? its always entertaining to see her rage at people lower than her when they try approach Ainz;)
Ainz stated himself that you won't yield as much results if you rule through power and fear. It's much more beneficial for people to serve you of their own free will and desire.
It's really funny that this sword's power has absolutely nothing to do with runes since they are just its texture and Yggdrassil had no rune system at all and the sword was just enchanted like all the others enchanted items they have lol.
Not entirely true. Ainz said he does suspect that the rune system might have been brought a player who found it and kept it secret. Keep in mind the Yggdrasil player base was a very informative secretive community where pretty much any information that was useful for the player base was kept hidden to the public. So the rune system might have come from Yggdrasil.
@@Artixes i would really wish for that in some real games. But in reality when someone finds somethin new he just goes for popularity trying to share it rsther than there being few who found somethin interesting everyone just copy what is best. Its boring..
@@kaponecko We would need a game on the scale of Yggdrasil. Even by the time Yggdrasil shut down, the players had yet to discover everything about the game.
I like how Ainz goal to entice other tribes and governments is with Prosperity, Challenge and Progress for all. Normally a villain type would suppress everyone but despite Ainz's evil deeds he does want to help other or push them to their full potential.
Its to his benefit, even as a "villain," to not oppress them. Unless they are an active threat to him, oppressing them just breeds resentment in his populace. Resentful populace will either a) decline because it lacks any real motivation or b) rebel, its not like things will get "worse" for them anyways (history shows that time and time again). But if they are prosperous, and allowed to actually challenge themselves with stuff that will benefit him, he can be confident that they'll have little problem with him in charge. Plus, as long as there is an understanding that they need to have and maintain objectives that align with his own, he doesn't have to micromanage them or worry about overt rebellion (except from ambitious upstarts, and then he can just use them as examples as to why they don't go against him).
In the lore written by Nine's Own Goal, Ainz Ooal Gown was built as a sanctuary for the oppressed, intended to build unity and peace among races. But the humans ruined it. They looked like monsters, so they were treated like monsters, so they became monsters. I think Momunga is trying to use that as the base for his own kingdom. He is trying to find his friends, assuming they are out in the new world somewhere. What better way than using the very core principles set in place by the nine founding members?
Dwarfs: Its imposible to craft more than 6 runes into a weapon. The 6 runes are already almost a mithycal proes. Ainz: So i have this word with 20 runes here...
I remember when he got control over the blond guy’s kingdom. He just wanted a regular alliance but the guy was so afraid of Ainz’s power, he decided to just surrender out right
In the novel, Ainz tries to obtain information about the enchantments with runes, since in the game the runes gave additional modifications to the stats of the weapons. And he knows that runic weapons even have the ability to use magic. What is sadder is to see that the runesmiths are treated as a nuisance to the dwarves. but in the later books they make you understand that the technology in the Sorcerous Kingdom evolves faster with the help of runes, since they first use it on basic necessities in the town.
Ainz and his ability to rp has really smoothed his path in this world. He was able to use what he learned from that one dwarf to manipulate the entire race, and do it in such a way that they thank him for it, and he has the unbreakable loyalty of an entire craft. All by showing them a decorative item that has pretty symbols painted on it that do nothing but glow and look nice to inspire a golden age of progress in their field. And its all his.
Why do people keep acting like the runes are fake? They might have been fake in Ainz world. But in the new world they'd have become real. Enri's goblin horn gains the ability to summon a massive army. The way Death knights function changed as they use to be more of a protective guard. Message now allows Ainz to speak to the npc's of Nazzarick which was never a thing. Cash shop items work in this new world still which definitely doesn't make sense. But the cosmetic runes becoming real is too far of a stretch for people to believe? We don't even know for sure runecrafting wasn't an actual thing that Ainz missed considering he theorized Enris goblin horn had an unknown function to him.
Magical enchantment is also a thing that exists, so the sword might just be enchanted with _Sharpness XII._ It's still impressive, but that wouldn't make it an example of rune-crafting.
@@davidhong1934 right but it's much more likely that the sword has 20 runes on it and they aren't cosmetic. It would make less sense for them to be fake
@@slumberingember To bolster your point: the enchanting and potion making methods of Yggdrasil differ from the New World. It is possibly that the runes got translated into a rune-smithed weapon. This is kind of like how spells have friendly fire now due to realism and that undead stay perminantly.
The magic of the new world changed itself to fit with the background lore and system from the first Yagdrissil players 800 years ago. The laws of runecrafting changing to accommodate items like that sword would be perfectly in line with the alteration of the magic system.
Мне действительно нравится, что он не просто хочет получать такие же крутые мечи, а именно воссоздать империю мастеров кузнецов гномов, которые смогут создавать рунное оружие. Аинз очень хорошо убеждает в своих словах и поступках
For as ruthless as Ainz can be, its only towards those who deserve it. He also knows how to inspire. He's a fair leader. He's an undead and so I guess technically he's evil but not for the sake of it.
The comedy in the show is unique, if you understand that Ainz just mostly goes with the flow while having good intentions on how he wants to rule over the world. It makes for some top tier circumstances and events that play out beautifully.
I love this, Ainz made it seem like in his younger years. He came across their ancestors, from an age far beyond and forgotten. Ainz saying hes no longer in the world. Means he wants to revive the craft as a homage to his long friend. A great friend who crafted him with a sword so majestic, that to the dwarves of new. Nothing is impossible.
This is like going to ancient Egypt with a 4k quality framed photograph, and telling all the artists that it was created long ago through lost technology. Thems got hoodwinked
This is what I love about Ainz. He didn't have to inspire the Dwarves to get what he wanted as they could never conceivably been a threat to him if they were to resent him; he could easily have cowed them with his power, coerced them with threats or bought them with gold, but he still chose to give them something to aspire to. It might be unobtainable, but perfection of any craft is, and it shows that despite the influence the objectively evil denizens of Nazarick have on him, there's still a degree of compassion.
When he said "Souzoushii. Shizukani seyo!" I could only wonder how many times he had practiced that action to make it as regal as possible.😂 Sasuga Ainz-sama!
Would be cool if Ainz throws this cosmetically enchanted sword to Climb and he somehow made it work beyond expectations just like how Enri did with the goblin horns
As I read this scene in the light novel, I always thought that the sword would be more glamorous. The shape and dullness really kills the scene of "WOW, look at this amazing blade! Providing free samples for anyone who's interested in Runecraft." No wonder Runecraft sales aren't going great.
While ainz did indeed trick the dwarves because that sword was actually just a cosmetic, he still motivated them to become their best selves and work hard. He did a great job and deserves to know he helped them
Granted it was a trick. Its genuinely beautiful to me watching the dwarves look at something they could dedicate their collective lives to and never achieve but still say "i want to make that sword"
I mean, something does technically come of this. The runesmiths move to Carne Village, which means that they now have a consistent form of tool repair in the community, as well as active usage of rune experimentation. It's more of a background thing.
its too early for much to come out of it. Just think of fluder paladyne for magic he was the absolutely most talented mage with a deep devotion to the art and even then he only reached 6th tier magic after 200 years of constant training and work. He also had a entire empire of resources as well as a pool of any and all talented mages of the empire to teach the arts too and still it took him 200 years to reach the 6th tier. Perhaps he struggled because there were no other as devoted as himself but still i can imagine it taking the dwarves there entire lives maybe even a few generations before there rune smithing reaches useful heights and thats if they continue grinding and devoting themselves to it. They also do not have easy ways to level up so a steamlined teaching and training method would need to be devised in order to make the youngest dwarve runesmiths reach the 'cap' as soon as possible so that they have more lifespan or time to try and surpass it
Alright, I read this 20 runes sword is purely cosmetic, but I wonder if Ainz has actually runed swords in his bag. I mean, some of the 41 were blacksmith's right? Any LN reader to enrich the debate?
Runesmithing didn't actually exist in Yggdrasil, at least, nobody in the public knew about it. It may have existed, but information was INCREDIBLY valuable in Yggdrasil, so if it did exist, it was kept secret and monopolized. That being said, upon conversion into the New World, the runes that were originally just cosmetic have possibly gained effects.
That isn't entirely correct. In the LN, it is stated that, in Yggdrasil, the Runes were purely Cosmetic, as runesmithing was supposedly nonexistent. But, as seen when Ainz gave Fluder a Book of the Dead, something that originally didn't have text within as it was just a class change item (to become a Lich), some things about items have clearly changed in the New World, so, the Runes likely have effects now.
note that, he spent many many hours perfecting that "Such Noise, Silence!!! " remark and movement its hilarious, and sometimes he spy on Jerkniv ?? (the empreror of the empire) To see how a ruler acts and moves, and Jerkniv is close to go insane because he knows someone is spying on him, no ,matter how much anti spyware he puts up, which ends up being A LOT
This doesn't do justice to the reaction of the runesmiths when they saw the weapon and their decision to move to the SK, but it makes sense a 1min video could never outperform 4 pages of motivated writting.
One day, someone in the real world is going to tap Momonga on the shoulder IRL and he'll break out of his stupor to find out that he's dehydrated, dying of hunger, and he has a life-threatening infection because of all the waste in his pants from being in the game world for months. By a miracle he hasn't actually died yet. (Ye I know this is actual Isekai and he doesn't exist in the real world anymore, but imagine if they just said "Time moves faster in the game world, and he was just actually stuck in the game)
He'd probably just be dead. Satoru Suzuki, his real life counterpart, didn't really have friends. He definitely didn't have family. The only people who would check on him would be people from work, and even then, in such a society, he'd probably just be fired and ignored after no response was made for two whole days. Earth, especially in Japan, during 2138, is apparently extremely dystopian.
Its just something from YGGDRASIL. The sword is really only appropriate for somebody who's level 50 or so. Very powerful for the context of this world, but not something Cocytus would bother using.

Honestly, most of the dwarven kingdom arc does a great job at showing how smart and skilled ainz is. I enjoy the arcs where he stumbles into victory with no idea what happened, but I also love watching him do well with his full knowledge. Also, I cant wait to see the episodes where he tries to advertise runic gear in the holy roble arc. God that was funny to read as he has his minions pretending to be bad guys try to act shocked and horrified that someone has a runic bow.
@@heroielementar what abilities you get from runes in NW again ?
@@Novumic also note that the bio edit ainz made probably gave albedo her virginity back.
Ainz may be mostly bumbling through being an overlord, but he does have his moments where it makes sense why he garners respect. Plus, trying to revive a lost technology has to be more interesting for them to do than grow mushrooms.
When he's alone he actually practices speeches and cool lines in a mirror so he can talk and be more like how the guardians see him. He doesn't want to disgrace the Image of a "supreme being". The "such noise i demand silence" is actually one of the lines he's been practicing.

It's amazing to think a salaryman, who managed to unite a monster guild that became #1 in the few years then got Isekaied. Following that you can see his skills in management despite his salaryman background.
they were not number one.
Ainz Ooal Gown was the Top DEFENSE Guild, notorious for being unable to successfully raid.
They were also known for having the largest collection of World Items in the game, owning eleven known items. The second place guild in this regard only had 3. Amongst the known world Items in Nazarick, we have:
2 of the "Twenty" both of which are unnamed and kept in the treasury (we know one can remove statuses, but Ainz didn't want to use it for Shalltear as a Twenty disappears after use),
Avarice and Generosity(the Gauntlets Mare wore, they act as an EXP battery, so that you can store excess EXP for when some needs to be spent for a spell)
Billion Blades (unknown effect)
Caloric Stone (an extremely rare material made by compiling a vast amount of specific ore, Ainz Ooal Gown actually produced it on accident when stockpiling Celestial Uranium. Could be used to make golems and enhance gear, as well as contact the devs to make a request)
Depiction of Nature and Society (a scroll allowing the user to confine an area to an alternate, illusive reality, one of 100 choices. The effects that reality would have are inflicted upon the victims, as if it were real, Aura is seen with this at one point)
Ginnungagap (the wand Albedo is seen with, as far as we know, it can break through any form of wall or barrier. Tabula gave it to her without permission, but Ainz let it slide once he realized she had it, as the game was closing down. It can also transform, presumably into a similar form as 3F, the Halberd/Bardiche we see her use in S1)
Hygieia's Chalice (unknown effect)
The Throne of Kings (The Throne in the throne room of Nazarick, yeah, it's a world item. Gifted for beating The Great Tomb of Nazarick in One Attempt. It is the primary defense and surveillance system of Nazarick, granting multiple layers of protection against information magic while allowing its user to observe the stats of all allies within Nazarick remotely, and oversee movements within, allowing time to prepare as invaders would come through, like in the largest raid upon the guild in history, as well as the more recent invaders of the tomb arc)
Momonga's Unnamed Red Orb (That's right. the sphere floating in Ainz's ribs is his world Item. The item itself BELONGS to him, and is his greatest secret. It becomes stronger over time, similar to the item "World Savior", and has a multitude of effects, including one that is apparently rather effective against dragons. We don't know much else, other than using it expends 5 of his levels. He also leaves it in his belly to make people mistake it for a weakpoint.)
We have no information on the last two world items.

Too bad none of us are undead.
You'd expect that a lich would use intimidation and other vile tactics to enlist the dwarves help but instead relied on democracy and demonstration.
It works better in the long run because now the dwarves will help Ainz because they chosen to with there free will.
The strongest chain that can bind a mind is a chain the mind creates to bind itself.
Ainz stated himself that you won't yield as much results if you rule through power and fear. It's much more beneficial for people to serve you of their own free will and desire.
Diplomacy is the word you're looking for, not democracy.
Ainz understands that you catch more flies with honey rather than vinegar
It's really funny that this sword's power has absolutely nothing to do with runes since they are just its texture and Yggdrassil had no rune system at all and the sword was just enchanted like all the others enchanted items they have lol.
for real?
Not entirely true. Ainz said he does suspect that the rune system might have been brought a player who found it and kept it secret.
Keep in mind the Yggdrasil player base was a very informative secretive community where pretty much any information that was useful for the player base was kept hidden to the public. So the rune system might have come from Yggdrasil.
@@Artixes i would really wish for that in some real games. But in reality when someone finds somethin new he just goes for popularity trying to share it rsther than there being few who found somethin interesting everyone just copy what is best. Its boring..

I like how Ainz goal to entice other tribes and governments is with Prosperity, Challenge and Progress for all. Normally a villain type would suppress everyone but despite Ainz's evil deeds he does want to help other or push them to their full potential.
Ainz doesn’t want world domination; He wants the world to be fun like it was when it was a game
Nice copy/paste comment there is even the exact same one couple of comments below
He's a good leader.
I know Ainz is constantly bringing it up but he really misses his friends and I think they're really letting us know this season how much.
😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣
I have a hard time believed that when the Author doesn’t even try to Bring in another player.
Dwarfs: Its imposible to craft more than 6 runes into a weapon. The 6 runes are already almost a mithycal proes.
Ainz: So i have this word with 20 runes here...
True loyalty is acquired through deep devotion and inspiration not through fear though but Ainz can somehow do both at the same time.
I remember when he got control over the blond guy’s kingdom. He just wanted a regular alliance but the guy was so afraid of Ainz’s power, he decided to just surrender out right
Ainz doesn't want them to follow him cause they will stay weak, he wants them cause they are strong. And with him they will become even stronger.
I see his training in acting is still proving usefull :D Demanding silence like a pro.
That is like showing someone a today's high end gaming pc to someone from 20yrs ago who understands the topic
Ainz is lucky that the fantasy trope of Dwarves being miners, craftsmen & heavy drinkers was present in the new world.
He just moved an entire room of Dwarves on the love of their craft.
That world is doomed, for no greater negotiator exists.
In the light novel. The primary source for the show, ainz is just showing a cosmetic skin for that weapon. Those runes are fake.
Lord Ainz knows his audience. Smithing, Crafting, and Engineering are the skills Dwarves stand equal to or do better than Elves.
0:15 " Ahhh all that practice paid off! "
That right there is what i call a real leader and king.
Iskander from fate would agree with me when he talks about what is a king
One of the most powerful skills of Ains beside magic is his charisma
Aniz continues to inspire everyone around him.
Ainz knows what dwarfs want good brews and good craftsmanship
As far as deals with the devil go, Ainz is a pretty nice devil.
"His sword is so big!"
"Let me touch it!"
Now that Ainz Ooal Gown moved the dwarves, very interesting things are coming for Overlord IV
If there's one thing that can motivate Dwarves, it's alcohol, and aside from alcohol, it's giving them honest hard work.
The artist actually did draw 20 runes on it. Good on em.
The world need Ainz to prosper. Thanks to him, the runecraft won’t die out.

One of my favorite lines from Ainz-sama:
“Such Infernal Discord! I DEMAND SILENCE!!”
You gotta love twarves in just about any universe. They love weapons, gold, mead and food and thats all they do all the time
The know high quality craftsmanship when they see it.
He knows how to read a crowd and play to their interests.
There ain't nothing wrong with trying to improve the crafting in an mmo
When he said "Souzoushii. Shizukani seyo!"
I could only wonder how many times he had practiced that action to make it as regal as possible.😂
Sasuga Ainz-sama!
Providing free samples for anyone who's interested in Runecraft."
No wonder Runecraft sales aren't going great.
If lore becomes reality when transferring to the NW, it makes me wonder if it *really did become thousands of years old* and visually changed to match
Ains was just happy to get off his line after Shalltear cut him off earlier
While ainz did indeed trick the dwarves because that sword was actually just a cosmetic, he still motivated them to become their best selves and work hard. He did a great job and deserves to know he helped them

Imagine his army of death knights with good gears 😅

Tuesday mornings can't come fast enough.
It sucks that nothing comes of this, I want to see how the runes play a role in the series
They also do not have easy ways to level up so a steamlined teaching and training method would need to be devised in order to make the youngest dwarve runesmiths reach the 'cap' as soon as possible so that they have more lifespan or time to try and surpass it
It honestly looks a bit like a daedric sword from Skyrim, but entirely black, without the red hues and having purple runes.

High quality alcohol + High level weapons = a workshop of dwarve craftsmans
Now Ainz is Odín All Father. The dwarves are from Scandinavian mythology.
Lord Ainz famous line!
does anyone know where the sword is from? he says he got it from a friend?
Something both funny and sad about this scene is that in the LN iirc the runes on that weapon were purely asthetics

By a miracle he hasn't actually died yet.

He'd probably just be dead. Satoru Suzuki, his real life counterpart, didn't really have friends. He definitely didn't have family. The only people who would check on him would be people from work, and even then, in such a society, he'd probably just be fired and ignored after no response was made for two whole days.
