Is this aluminum frame comfortable? I don't want to hear that it will be cause big tires absorb, I will often put another set of wheels on it with 32mm gatorskin pumped up to the max. Thks
Just put deposit on 2023 Checkpoint ALR5 like this one, on sale $1,999. This was the best demo ride today closely followed by the Canondale Topstone. Really liked the Otso Warakin, smoothest ride of the day but the frame was slightly too big. The Salsa Warbird was dissapointing, wanted to be amazed but it was stiffer, harsher and not as responsive (to me) compared to the Trek or Checkpoint. Now looking for upgraded wheels and tires.
For three hundred less, you could have a full carbon bike and the same drive train. Went to local trek store and the ALR 5 was supposed to have a complete GRX drain train. Had some piece of crap for a crank and still wanted that high as _ _ _ _ price. Went home with out a bike. Regrouped and did some research. Spendent 1500 more got full carbon bike, carbon wheels and complete force XPLR AXS drive train, power meter. The trek SLR 7 XPLR AXS is the most comparable bike trek offers at a pound and half more and double the price. THANK YOU TREK I couldn't be happier with my decision not to buy an over priced bike from your company. O
Hi Greetings! I'm new to the hobby, I'm currently riding a normal MTB second hand from a Kmart like Costco store. Is it reasonable to get this bike as a first bike?
I'm looking at the trek checkpoints at the moment and was deciding between an SL5 and the ALR5. Based on your comment it sounds like it's not so popular any more, how come and what replaced it?
I just bought one and I love it
I can see my 2016 turbo levo in the background LOL!
Checkpoints are great

I found it ok, tires did a good job. I needed a different seat tho
Can I use a road tires if so what size do you recommend?
You can use road tires on this. I have the AL4, and put road tires on it to ride with a group. It worked well.

I just got the Checkpoint SLR 7, but I think you convinced me I dont need more than the ALR 5. I'll trade mine in!
We'll give you $2000cash trade value
@@goodluckchrisclark jeez man I’ll give the man at least $2100 😂 y’all starting the bidding lowww
I made it through the first 4 minutes. Did he eventually talk about the Checkpoint?
If users want a less expensive option in the line, they can go for the ALR4. Personally I went for the ALR5 AXS.
AXS is so nice! jealous

Great review. What size frame do you think would be best for someone who is 182cm?
I'm 183cm and 58 size is perfect :)
@@KubaOnTour great, thanks !

They can have ok bikes, just don't expect them to last forever, 2-3 years lifespan
This model frame doesn't have the adjustable rear axle pivot point that the previous frame had
Correct not sure why they removed it
Fast forward one year and my Trek store has 15 Checkpoints on the showroom, collecting dust.
It's funny how it's changing very quickly

Prices of bikes are $$$$$$?????🙃
How much for this one
Revolt advanced 3 or checkpoint ALR 5??? Any help appreciated
I looked at both. I feel the ALR 5 looks like it is completed better. The welds are cleaner, the look is more impressive.
@@dmiddleton1985 I ended up getting the Trek SL5. It's a machine
What made you choose the ALR 5? I’m deciding between the two myself.
@@WilliamHinds-y6w I ended up getting the Checkpoint SL5. It's an amazing bike
@@WilliamHinds-y6wALR is a great choice
What's the difference between this and the Driftless? That would be a great video.
1 major difference is a 1x front ring on the drift less vs 2x on the alr
@@HunterdonNJCycling driftless has a dropper as well for pretending to be mohoric
56cm frame is good for 174cm ?
yep, may want a shorter stem if the reach feels to much but that comes down to body differences
I prefer 54cm Frame and I am 179 cm. With 84 Inseam. I rode 3000 k already - Perfect size for me!
whats the smallest size that they sell?
49cm
What’s the price?
$2,500. For an aluminum bike with barely mid level build. Should be about $1,800.
@@charliedillon1400It’s hard to say it should be cheaper when it is one of the best selling gravel bikes.
This is more than entry level 🙄
The rear thru axle has a manufactuers defect. It is almost impossible to put the rear rim back on once you take it off.

Haven't seen that happen. I wonder if it's a recall or warranty you can do
