To be honest, I dont mind the Indonesian recruiting players using this method. However, these recruited players are all Indonesian diaspora in the Netherlands which gives these players a genuine connection towards the nation and maybe a different sense when playing for the country. It would not just be for the money, but for pride and for playing for their “home” country. Take my country Singapore for example, there have been more and more naturalised players over the years but all of them have meant their appeal to play for our country, like Song Ui-Yong (Korean). Thanks for the video!
before 2019 indonesian fa naturalized player that play in their league for 5 years and more.. but now indonesian fa naturalized player that have indonesian blood in their dna..its better now
Hello I’m a Qatari and everything you said was true. One of the reason there’s not many blood Qatari footballers is because Qatari families would not let their children become one. Qatari families want there children to get prestigious jobs. You will never find Qataris working at cashiers or construction sites it’s not even allowed by law.
The Indian match was all on the ref not Qatar. Qatar already qualified to the next round. Jordan match wasn’t paid either all the penalties were correct just watch the match and look closely in different angles.
Singapore here, there's a similar naturalisation scheme for footballers started in 2000 with mixed results. On one hand there were players like Mirko Grabovac who never saw SG as their adopted home and eventually left, who were condemned by locals as mercenary. There are also players like Daniel Bennett who though born overseas grew up in Singapore and genuinely come across as more Singaporean than foreign. Rn there is also Song Ui Young who moved to SG at 17 and has lived here for the last 10+ years and genuinely seems to be happy to have become Singaporean, and even applied and was rejected for residency multiple times, without FA sponsorship, before he eventually received it Let's just say that we need more players like Daniel Bennett and less like Mirko Grabovac, and I'm not even talking about performances on the pitch
This video suddenly appears in my algorithm. Reminds me of the current Indonesian national team whose using naturalized half-blood talents living abroad. Keep the good work!
Vietnam football once had a short stint of "naturalization fever", initiated by then-head coach Henrique Calisto. Back then, good foreign players tended to stay in the V.League for quite long, and they were naturalized after 5 years, aided by rich club owners in order to free up a foreign player slot for the club. Calisto fancied some of them, and called them up to the NT - which motivated the "naturalization boom". Even after he left and naturalized players were not called up to the NT anymore, clubs still continued naturalizing foreign players, to the point clubs may only field 3-4 real local Vietnamese players on the pitch. After the league made some rule changes in 2015 (clubs are allowed only 1 naturalized player since), and the success under the Park Hang-seo era, Vietnam football kinda forgot about naturalized players. But the current abysmal era, alongside the success of Indonesia thanks to their mass naturalization of overseas players, has made Vietnamese fans scream for more overseas/foreign players to be naturalized. Not counting the overseas VNese, we had just naturalized a Brazilian striker. I think Vietnam football will soon have an another period of "naturalization fever".
Interesting! When I read stories like this I always think the people in charge just didn't handle it right. In my opinion, there's actually nothing wrong with the naturalisation of foreign talent. In fact, it's probably one of the key drivers behind any league/country going to the next level - you need foreign influence/talent to kick it up a notch. But to then over do it too quickly or put insane laws around it to block it from happening just doesn't make sense to me. Thanks for watching and leaving your thoughts!
@@insertnamehere5809 There are and we have been doing the recruiting more actively. Just never as many as the number of available Indonesian overseas players.
Indonesia is doing the same but in a technical manner since their government do not allow dual citizenship. Indonesian diaspora in Netherlands are being recruited left and right with a huge price tag with each naturalization. Local news states that their federation spends thousands and millions of dollars for each naturalized players processing. This is good in a short term but the money will dry up in sometime.
@@samarthbagwe1736 maybe there is an agreement between the players and Erick Thohir (chairman of the Indonesian football federation) I don't know, but I'm sure it's not about money because Indonesia is not a rich country like Qatar or Singapore, so as an Indonesian I doubt it.
It is indeed a short-term solution and the money dried up if Indonesia have to travel again to somewhere in round 4 of WCQ. The travel cost hefty money like DAAAAMNNN. the travel from bahrain to qingdao china using rental plane cost 100 thousand ish US dollars.
On the topic of national teams, you should do one with the rise of Indonesia & it’s Football Chairman Erick Tohir. From the dutch born indonesian blood that was naturalized & how Erick’s business (Intermilan,DC United, Oxford United, Como FC (Other Indonesian owner) to it’s close ties to Gianni Infantino (FIFA) to bring more money in from the South East Asian Market.

Hey Joel, thanks for watching! I don't think I can fit all my thoughts on the future of AUS/NZ football into one comment but if I had to sum it up it would be that the future is bright. I think we're still waiting for it to grab the time it deserves in the headlights but it will get there. And I'm super excited for Auckland FC - I'll be at the first home game and I like the signings/direction the club has been taking. I've seen them train a couple times and with big Bill in charge they could be a surprising shout for a play off finish this season.
Recent Examples in Asia today 2024 Is Indonesia With the help of Dutch and other European players they are literally buying Success Now Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Phillipines, China and Even Japan has Tried this and been successful
Literally just watched Jordi Amat (ex Espanyol, Swansea) come on for JDT in the Asian champions league, and realised that he is now Indonesian since 2022
Dunno bout the others but Japan never naturalized anyone except their Futsal team captain. Likes of Joel Fujita, Zion Suzuki, and Leo Kokubo were born in Japan. For Daniel Schmidt, he's simply born in the US but spend his school time and junior footballing in Japan and eventually choose to represent Japan. About Indonesia, I disagree when you said we are "buying success". If we do, We'll be as competitive as we did today since 2010 and aiming to qualify for world cup TODAY instead of the next 10 years. We're missing a lot since 2010. Some magic brewed in our FA that our diaspora is impactful and brought Indonesian National Team TOO FAR. Sane fans didn't even think Indonesia have a chance to play in world cup. Consecutively qualifies for Asian Cup is already a miracle.
This is the result of civic nationalism aka globalism Germany has some nerve calling out anyone for using non nationals, when they have many black players in their team Only blood-based restrictions are rational, otherwise international football will lose all legitimacy. Look at france. Ridiculous.

If that's the case It's understandable how lazy and incapable and low trust World has on qataris
Because they are not hardworking
and now, they're buying referees. seriously that AFC final between Qatar and Jordan was sus at best, not to mention the India match
