    These are solid 100%. You're right- management titles don't automatically make folks the leader in the eyes of the staff. This video is a good reality check.

    "To obtain financial freedom, one must be either a business owner, an investor, or both, generating passive income, particularly on a monthly basis." - Robert Kiyosaki. I wasnt financial free until my 40’s and I’m still in my 40’s, bought my second house already,got a new business my wife is managing, earn on a monthly through passive income and got 4 out of 5 goals, just hope it encourages someone that it doesn’t matter if you don’t have any of them right now, you can start TODAY regardless your age INVEST and change your future! Investing is a grand choice I made.😊

      Hi Lawrence,I understand the fact that tomorrow isn't promised to anyone, but investing today is a hard thing to do for me now because I have no idea of how and where to invest in.I would be happy if you could advise me based on how you went about yours, as I am ready to go the passive income path.?

    • @Lawrencekingsley01
      @Lawrencekingsley01 10 месяцев назад

      Understanding the intricacies of investing is crucial. That's why it's important to have a reliable support system, such as a financial consultant, who can guide you, especially when it comes to selecting assets. Personally, I work with Regina Louise Collaro, an investment advisor who collaborates with a licensed wealth management firm. I must say that my financial journey has been exceptional under her guidance. Regina is widely recognized for her excellent services, so you may already be familiar with her. Thanks to her expertise, I have achieved financial stability and now earn a consistent monthly income through her passive income strategy.

    I thought this was a really great video each one of the laws were very well described and certainly a major part of being a good leader and a manager in particularly the restaurant setting but I do think that it missed one or at least one other crucial law and it would be being an expert at what you do. A leader or in this particular case a restaurant manager needs to be an expert at every position at every job and every function by which they will be leading other subordinates to do. Being an expert at everything that a leader or restaurant manager is required to provide direction and guidance to all employees is a power that must be possessed by a manager. This power is what gives their employees the confidence to listen, heed and overall respect all directions that come from that manager and are also a major part of developing loyalty by the employees for their leaders/managers.

    I was once at a restaurant where the manager was kind of rude. Or actually, it was the den at my university. I threw a sandwich basket in the garbage, and the manager told me it wasn't disposable and took it out, explaining why it needed to be on the food conveyor belt. After I apologized, she said, "It's okay. Just don't let it happen again." Sure, it wasn't *exactly* a strict tone *...per se...* but I still thought that was kind of a rude way to reply to my apology. It was an honest mistake and obviously I understood right from wrong in that moment. She could've simply left it at "It's okay" and assumed I would never make that mistake again.

    The bars I’ve worked at management is like do as I say, not as I do. But these managers have no bartender experience so they have no accountability and they don’t want to improve. So how can an employee respect and look up to managers like that!!?? To me, that’s a dumb-ass owner that promotes managers like that so there’s just a body there. Managers need to learn how to bartend!! Otherwise how the hell is a manager supposed to handle issues that going on in the bar, how is a manager supposed to help promote anything if there not trained, how is a manager supposed to help bartenders make drinks if there not properly trained!!!, how is a manager supposed to know enough to check draft systems such as; change a keg, make sure kegs are rotated, check beer lines, make sure co2 and nitrogen is where it should be, if there not freakin trained properly!!! Bartending is not just about making drinks, it also about science and learning sanitation!! I mean, bartending is not hard, but you as a manager do not want to go behind a bar and not know what the hell your doing. Managers needs be open for criticism and critiques because that’s how they will get better and not only be better bartenders but, be better managers as well!! They need to lose the attitude about “ do as I say, not as I do”. They need to do “ monkey see, monkey does”. Because I can guarantee you there are lots of real bartenders are going to know a hell of a lot more than a manager will. Believe that!!

    I was ready to want to watch this…then he referred to serving food as going to battle. It’s not and I am repeatedly trying to save my staff from this mindset. If serving guests is going to battle there will always be that us vs them mentality where the staff is always against the guest. We are all here for a common goal, great food and good atmosphere. We as leaders should not carry the mental weight of having to engage adults in their workplace. Come in, do you work make people happy and go home. No reason to have a combative ideology when it comes to food! We will burn our little remaining workforce to the ground constantly trying to rev them up for “battle”

    • @DaveAllredTheRealBarman
      @DaveAllredTheRealBarman  3 года назад +3

      Hmmm...I think you missed the metaphor here Tevin. If you can point out in the video where I referred to serving food as going to battle, please let me know. What I do mention is how to lead your people like Mel Gibson in Braveheart, who inspires and motivates them to rise to a challenge, but nowhere do I say that your staff is going to battle with customers or be against them. Again, if you can point out where I say anything like that, I would love to know. Either way, thanks for stopping by. Cheers.

    • @marvind.rogers1706
      @marvind.rogers1706 2 года назад +2

      Hi. So that analogy never meant restaurant staff vs. guests in battle. That analogy speaks to the wild unpredictabilities that constantly fire off in fast-paced high-intensity service situations. And like a good soldier, we must have grace under fire (triple seating, six dishes went back, drinks took 20 minutes, screaming guests, etc). It's an apt analogy that denotes the intensity of what we do.

    Really only 3 rules: 1.) Know yourself 2.) Know your staff 3.) Know the mission Everything else is personal choice.
