After the Russian Revolution Sergii Bulgkov wrote in the American Slavonic Review in 1924: “The problem of theocracy in general, and of Russian Theocracy in particular, remains the central axis around which Russian religious thought moves.” Inspired by Vladimir Soloviev’s thought, “theocracy”, the “kingdom of God on earth”, and the idea of sacred power were among the most debated topics among Russian intellectuals of the Silver age and were to be continued by the Russian Orthodox Diaspora. In
exile, they developed a “completely new understanding of the Kingdom of God on earth” (Antoine Arjakovsky).
