Only difference is in the military in order to move up the ladder an officer has to move to different levels of management. Plus they might be an officer in law enforcement at one post then following their next assignment they serve in a transportation or engineer unit! Heck I know an enlisted man I served with that advanced through the green to gold program and is now a general! Funny how things work!

During my 26 yrs in the FED I was blessed to have the assignment of Lead CPCM for the 'Okd Guard'. Out of all my assignments (including AED Kabul) this was my most heart wrenching and fulfilling. God Bless our Troops.🙏♥️

I remember watching the changing ceremony when i was about 10 years old, which was 17 years ago. The feeling you get standing amongst these gentlemen is nothing short of the utmost respect and admiration. Truly a privilege to get to see them doing their job up close and personal.
It's not just the handful of bodies in there, it's what it represents, all fallen Brothers and sisters in arms. The dedication is to every last one of them.

I might be wrong, but doing this job during bad weather would make me feel more proud of the symbol I give, than doing it on a sunny day. Everyone can guard a statue on a sunny day, but being there under the worst weather conditions, while everyone wants to be inside with a warm chocolat and not complaining about it, that shows dedication. That deserves respect.

The Soldiers who are in this position are honored to do this. They volunteer to serve in this unit for 2 years. So much respect from this old Veteran.
(Most are at the Tomb for a couple of years, but there is no set time.)

I remember watching the changing ceremony when i was about 10 years old, which was 17 years ago. The feeling you get standing amongst these gentlemen is nothing short of the utmost respect and admiration. Truly a privilege to get to see them doing their job up close and personal.

It is called dedication and pride in what they are doing . Respect for our fallen comrades.
It's called satisfying your dumba$$ superiors so that you can get your salary, benefits, and retirement.
It’s more like his job, guarantee you he doesn’t want to be out in that. If it starts lighting he’s in danger.

I might be wrong, but doing this job during bad weather would make me feel more proud of the symbol I give, than doing it on a sunny day.
Everyone can guard a statue on a sunny day, but being there under the worst weather conditions, while everyone wants to be inside with a warm chocolat and not complaining about it, that shows dedication.
