50 years ago I was in the Air Force, so all this footage is from my era. The above notes list a few of the weapons, and I have listed some more that I can identify with their NATO reporting names. In the middle of the sequence with the MiG-21s, there appears a Su-7 Fitter from 8:52 - 9:02. At 10:00 - 11:30, the Tu-95 Bear is being refueled by a M-4 Bison. The Bison was going to be the Soviets big strategic bomber, but it was a bust so they turned it into a tanker. The Bear is still in use today (just like our B-52s from the same era). Go to "Ukrainka air base" on Google Maps to see the satellite photo. The base has about 20 Bears along the taxi way. In the middle of the air base is a static display of a few old aircraft, the biggest one is a Bison. The cruise missile launch at 11:56 is an AS-3 Kangaroo. At 24:53 they show a salvo launch of SA-1s. These 1st gen SAMs from the early 50s were only used to defend Moscow. These crude missiles were launched en masse from sites forming rings around Moscow. 25:09 SA-2 Guideline SAM launches. 25:37 Soyuz launch from Tyuratam, which is still used today to launch astronauts (including Americans) to the ISS. 50 years ago, if you told someone that this would be happening, they would think you were crazy. The Ukrainka air base is just a bit south of the brand new Russian launch facilty, Vostochny Cosmodrome, that is supposed to replace Tyuratam. Since the Soviet Union dissolved, Tyuratam (aka Baikonur Cosmodrome) is now part of Kazakhstan and no longer in Russia.

Am to old for this. But when I see STOLEN VALOR can't hold it.
How old are u ? If u show your DD214 I will get on my knees and apologize.
I survived 2 tours of duty in VIETNAM as USAF 1180 that's the old version of MOS USAF used it also at the time.
The area where Soviets had the space program It is still Russian. They secured that big piece of real estate from Kazakhstan is where they keep BURAN.
USAF pilots recognize soviet SAMs by the missiles using Russian designated names like v-300 missile not [that come later] SA-1 THAT WAS THE WHOLE SYSTEM DESIGNATION. From 1971 USAF started using the whole system DESIGNATION. For simple reasons was to much of it and NATO start doing it. GUILD for S-25 Berkut system and so on.
Dont try to say what is not true. Web soldiers people like you in my stolen valor

@@thetreblerebel there never was an order from lenin directly to kill the imperial family... it was done by a buncha drunk bolshevik lads.... lenin wanted to instead trial the tsar (not even his family fully) in order to show that in soviet union even the tsars are equal under new law

It would be nice if Periscope Films spent some money in hiring the services of a Russian translator so they can add English subtitles to the film and others like it.

Есть мнение, что подобными фильмами обмениваются по военно-дипломатическим линиям. Чтобы друг дружку в тонусе держать.

It's not a su 7/17 fitter but a tu 22 blinder medium range supersonic bomber. Sexy looking but a difficult airplane to fly. Another Soviet era plane considered to be a disappointment to the Soviet airforce.

You can easily turn on closed captions in English. Simply turn on captions on RUclips, and use the gear to "auto translate". ; )
