    I love the way that ATC subtly offer corrections without making a big deal of it.

    A safe landing is a good landing. Looked safe to me !

      Your right, it was perfectly safe, I just know I can do better. I didn't straighten up properly and the tarmac bites harder than grass.

    A fantastic example of a cross country. Should be part of the syllabus to watch

      FlyingMoodys thanks very much! I wish I had a more extensive camera setup for those first few flights.

      Patrick Heneghan hi Patrick - thanks for your comment. I’m delighted you’re enjoying my back catalogue! This one goes right back, where production values were embarrassingly poor. I hope you notice a difference with my more recent stuff. Anyway, that’s great you’re thinking of getting your license renewed - it’s such a fun past time.

    What was wrong with the landing? Rounding out too high and have to catch it with a bit of power?

    • @RoryOnAir
      @RoryOnAir  6 лет назад +2

      MrAlwaysBlue I’m probably a bit over self critical but I think that’s better than being over confident. Thanks for the comment. 👍

    Don't know how I missed this one Rory, nice flight, lovely views, my flight sim version is not too far off of the mark. Landing a Hercules at Birkdale Sands is fun! Sadly in reality it's closed. My buddy used to work at Warton, but that's subject to the official secrets act.
    Are you still using the same Bose headphones for your helicopter training? How are they bearing up?

      Ah this really is an old one! Yes, same pair of bose. I have an adapter to convert GA twin plug to helicopter. I’m doing great thanks. Cheers, Rory

    I'm considering starting my PPL (M) at Barton in the near future. What would you say would be a realistic budget? I started my GA PPL about ten years ago but a change in circumstance meant I couldn't find the time to continue. I had logged 10 hours on C152 by then. Thanks

      Hi Jean-Marie. It's very difficult to give you an answer to that because the amount of time it takes to get to the standard needed to pass is different for everyone and seems to vary quite a lot. I had logged around 47 hours when I had completed everything I needed for the licence and I had no official flying experience prior to that. What I can say is that Mainair is a superb school with well maintained aircraft and a great team of instructors. Give them a call and have a chat with Chris who is in charge. You'll definitely find it considerably cheaper than the C152. Rory
