I’m 72 and played bass for over 50 years, I’ve just discovered you and your kick arse band. Absolutely love your vocals and the band is sensational. Congratulations. On a side note I want the bass guitar, beautiful.
I’ve said it for yrs, and I continue to say, you cannot have a serious conversation about the greatest rock singers of all time without Paul Carracks name being somewhere high on that list.
As long as I've lived, been playing guitar for 40 years, there are just people who are "better" than others. Paul has the talent. Paul has the chops. Z He may be one of the most "boring" guitar players in history, but I don't care... Paul is the king of yacht rock. He is exciting and that is rare and fkng awesome.
A fantastic version of one of the best songs ever. I live overseas now but when it came out it was never off my stereo system in Harrogate. Seeing this recent version in Leeds was pretty special. Thanks for uploading Paul. Love your versions with EC....
Live in Leeds now but came from HG. Sadly missed it coming out as i wasnt born for another 20 years 😂 but ive got the Five A Side lp which is, fittingly, Ace
Good God what a fantastic group of musicians. And of course the incomparable voice and keyboard chops of Paul Carrack. In a sad era of watching our '70's rock Gods struggling so much with age, it's a pleasure seeing these guys sounding so great. Rock on!
Excellent. I saw PC playing this at a solo gig at The Mean Fiddler in Harlesden in 84 or 85. Nick Lowe was there, too, hanging around. Coincidentally I worked behind the bar at Willie Wilson's pub on Holland Park Road a year or so later.
Paul Carrack and this song "How Long" have stood the test of time without any doubt..He still sounds amazing and possibly better now. This band was nothing shy of magnificent. I don't think it's possible to not move your, or tap your foot when the beat starts.
I met Mr. Carrack years ago in Dallas for album promotion event. He showed up with a small keyboard and drum track. That’s when you know musical prowess! He rocked the place all by himself! Really impressive and personable gentleman. Praise Jesus for his giftedness.
Paul I just bought In The Living Years CD yesterday July 26, 2022. I graduated high school in 87 my Dad and Brother who just got out of the Navy both were killed in a head on collision. I lost my Mom who held it all together for so long 3 years ago. Talk about a song that will defy time. I was standing in line at the pharmacy and the song was playing in the store I just started crying. That is the song I needed. Noone could sing it better than you. It's flawless whether you sing it live, slow or like the original. I'm for one THANKFUL for that song of healing.
With all the sadness that you have had to endure I pray that this year has been better for you! I don’t have that CD yet, but on your recommendation I will buy it ,too. I’m sure it will be a great one as is all of his music!
The first time I heard this song, on the radio in 1974 during my high school years it instantly became one of my top ten favorite songs. Not often does the powerful message of a song match the melody of the song. Funny, almost 50 years later this song still resonates as one of the best ever! What an amazing band of talented musicians. Paul, please COME TO COLORADO!! I'll meet ye at the local Pub. Thank you Sir Knight. -Larry G Loveland, Colorado
I had much the same response in 1975 when this was the first song the band played at my Junior Prom. Fell in love with the song so I went out and bought the Ace Five a Side 8 Track, yes I said 8 Track and wore that dam thing out over the next couple of years. Paul Carrack is one of my favorite singers of all time. Love to meet the man.
Same years, no experience from it !! LoL. Well uhhh. Now. except that muthuf HUGGing mile deep GROOVE !!!! How long?.. not long enough keep singing it Paulie !!!
Similar I have loved this song for almost 50 years, when I was younger I used to play it on my Sony Walkman before rugby matches to get into the right zone
Always loved this song. Outstanding band players in this performance. Awesome drummers, Sax player, guitarists and also you Paul for making this song a hit. My disappointment with the performance here are them god damned blue spotlights! There are so many of them and they are so blinding, at times you cannot see the band players! Quite a put off to one of my favorite songs actually. Love you all guys.
Don't forget Tempted for Squeeze, and his live version of Hey You for Roger Waters and the Bleeding Heart Band at the wall in Berlin 1990. The man kills it nearly every time he steps to the microphone. He's also a songwriter and plays several instruments.
@@cattycorner8 I also just found out that the Linda Ronstadt hit "You're No Good" was done in 1964 by a band called The Swinging Blue Jeans. Love me some RUclips.
@@frankcoffey LOL The Swinging Blue Jeans what a name for a band! 😆 almost sounds like a joke name for a group of session musicians. I learn something every day. It's a great song.
Hy Paul. Your music is simple the Best. Come in to Porto Alegre, in Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil. You have a lot of fans here. Everebody here want to listen and dancing your Music....Congratulations.....sorry by my poor english
Andy staves such an underrated lead guitarist for Paul
I’m 72 and played bass for over 50 years, I’ve just discovered you and your kick arse band. Absolutely love your vocals and the band is sensational. Congratulations. On a side note I want the bass guitar, beautiful.
I love this version - the sound kicks ass!
I’ve said it for yrs, and I continue to say, you cannot have a serious conversation about the greatest rock singers of all time without Paul Carracks name being somewhere high on that list.
You are correct.
Ditto.
As long as I've lived, been playing guitar for 40 years, there are just people who are "better" than others.

It's unbelievable that his voice is better and better and this is two years ago. He is the real one since the seventies.
Still got it Paul! Played your music in our Wedding in 2003.. fabulous! HJC x
Man I don't hear music like this any more.............
Good God what a fantastic group of musicians. And of course the incomparable voice and keyboard chops of Paul Carrack. In a sad era of watching our '70's rock Gods struggling so much with age, it's a pleasure seeing these guys sounding so great. Rock on!

What fabulous intro to one of the best songs ever written. Paul Carrack is magnificent and so is this entire band!!
To quote BB King, “this is as good as it gets!” 50 more years, Mr. Carrack!
Ace, Squeeze, Mike and the Mechanics, and solo. PC is one of the greatest ever. Nothing beats a live show with a Wurlitzer and PC killin it.
A true G.O.A.T.
❤Outstanding musicians..& Paul's beautiful voice..❤👍

Everything about this video is fantastic but the percussionists both make it a real standout!

Hello there👋
Awesome performance!
And the band is just killing!!!
Far out. All these years I had no idea Paul Carrack was the lead singer for ACE. What a great performance, very tight band.
I just found out myself, from a comment on the Squeeze song Tempted/ Mind is blown.
@@cattycorner8 I also just found out that the Linda Ronstadt hit "You're No Good" was done in 1964 by a band called The Swinging Blue Jeans. Love me some RUclips.
