- In Kentucky, 74 people are dead while others are still unaccounted for after multiple tornadoes devastated communities across several U.S. states.
Those who survived have no home, heat, water or power in chilly December temperatures. People in the community of Mayfield are still trying to make sense of the disaster that obliterated their entire town.
Jackson Proskow has the story of one family's brush with death, and how the community is rallying together to help those in need.

This is tragic.
Unless you have experienced a tornado, it is hard to understand.
I lived near Nashville, when 56 twisters ravaged the state. It was insane. I saw one form above my house, before I went into the cellar, and it went on to Old Hickory lake, and mangled a bunch of boats.
My heart goes out to these poor victims.
Remember the Murfreesboro TN tornadoes a few years ago? that uprooted homes from foundations and flipped them upside down?
My heart really goes out to those experiencing the trauma and loss right now. my parents and I had a close brush with death by a tornado driving down a highway at night when I was 14 and I can certainly say that there isn't anything I've experienced that is so intensely terrifying in my life. It really shook me up then and still does at times because back then we had no clue that they could happen at night especially since we didn't get them often where I lived.

This tragedy I'm sure is putting so much about life until perspective for so many people. Life is so precious and people are irreplaceable but things are. It saddens me that so many people literally lost everything some including family members especially during the rough time we have all had during covid. I really hope we as humans will continue to bond together because all we have in the end is each other.

That lady that said her memories are all gone and she grew up there. I'm 65 and i live in a small South Georgia town. Every morning when I go into work around 6:30. I look at everything that is precious to me. I can see me running up and down the streets when I was little. The bakery that is still there that I still go to. The old movie theater is still there and I grew up going there. Now it's where we have plays. It still looks the same though.❤️My heart hurts for what she just said. 😢

We don't even have basements in my country. If something like this hit we would all be wiped out along with the city but hardest part of watching this had to be the heartbreak when he said the age ranges. I can't even fathom something like this....

many of these homes were just sucked or wiped completely off the slab or foundation. There was no place to hunker down so to speak or hide. Perhaps a state ordinance should require all new builds to have a survival basement below ground. in future.
They say Tornado Alley is shifting east... everything rebuilt needs to be brought up to Oklahoma building code specs.

It is almost hilarious when getting to about 2:35 in this video when it is reporting about a couple from Nashville that was apparently in the vicinity of potential hard strike by these tornado(e), but that didn't happen and they decided to go to I guess Mayfield, Ky., where there was major destruction from the tornado or tornado(e)s that wildly ripped through there, going there to try to do whatever they could to try to provide whatever little help they could, and the woman of the couple says that to see the scenes on TV "is pretty tragic". Makes me laugh, only "pretty tragic"? Seems far worse than that and I'm watching this video from Quebec, Canada. To me, the scene definitely looks like disaster, devastating, this situation being EXTREMELY bad. Washington has the finances to be able to greatly help out these people and hopefully will do so, for, and just for example, Washington just approved a budget of something like $768, $778, if not $788 BILLION for the Pentagon and therefore US military, which of course includes the (racketeering) MIC, when this was extremely/totally ABSURD. Let us see if Washington finally does something right, for it is definitely warranted to do so, urgently, just that it hasn't been much of this way over the past many decades with Washington. I'll keep my criticism about the Cdn govt aside, for it isn't a relevant topic in this case. Will the Washington fed. govt finally do right, or will it again go off into ... land of nonsense, let us see. It's been far, far worse than nonsense so far, but I'll just use the word nonsense to keep this comment "light". I don't have high hopes with Pres. Biden, but maybe there is some grain of real soul in him, maybe, somewhere (?) ; or, ..., well, I'll refrain from this criticism for now. But, I would never recommend him for managing anything important. Well, let's see what happens.
