  • I dig into one of the most flexible insulation materials on the market. Pound for Pound, could this material be that good? #inspection #residential #insulation #codeviolations

Totally agree with everything you said. Other than the higher cost, using it over OSB instead of house wrap takes care of air sealing, vapor sealing, and thermal bridging issues.

Any reason why I couldn't use this on the inside? I was wanting to build a house with a pretty thick wall for the sake of lasting a long time. From the outside layer, going in: 1" stone cladding, concrete block (filled and with rebar), 2" foam board insulation, 2x6 wall with R-19. Would be in zone 6.

Hello, I have a new construction project going and have a question. I'm thinking of using 2" rigid foam board in between the studs (16" on center) on my exterior walls, leaving a 1 1/2" air gap between the foam board and the exterior sheathing and foaming any gaps around the edges of the foam board between the studs. Then installing 1/2" foam board over the face of the studs on the exterior walls prior to installing 1/2" sheetrock. Would like your professional opinion on this. Also would i need to install a vapor barrier as well? Thank you

So, will that meet your required R-value for exterior walls?

Another problem I have seen is if you don't have OSB or chip board siding, where is your torsional/sheer strength in your framing. I once wired a house & I asked the Builder about this, he said " the drywall will provede that". I do NOT agree!
