Sarah Dash was no joke. She held down her soprano throughout the ENTIRE show. Patt and Nona were great of course, but Sarah singing in full power the entire night is nothing short of impressive!!!!!!!
Someone needs to remaster these old shows and put them in HD sound. These 3 women together were absolutely amazing. They would put every other Girl Group vocals to shame. These were 3 singing women. They don't make them like that no more!!! RIP Miss Sarah Dash.
Labelle and The Pointer Sisters are hands down my absolute favorite female groups of all time. Their vocals are astoundingly amazing, and they traversed diverse musical terrain with the greatest of ease. They have no equals.
the greatest chick group of all time...sorry, Supremes. When LaBelle became a 'thing', they were untouchable. And in my own humble opinion, they belong in the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame. And I understand record sales have a lot to do with those inductions in the HOF, but LaBelle, actually affected culture as well as music...and that carries a lot of weight, as far as Im concerned. They opened the door for people like Prince and Grace Jones, to be as outrageous and fearless, as they were. (mind you, Grace is still alive). Long live, the music of LaBelle...and RIP, Mrs Sarah Dash. You were something else.
Let us not forget that they were “a thing” even way before they changed the name to Labelle in the 70s. They were a group in the early 60s that were not huge hit makers but were considered one of, if not, the most talented vocal groups by fans as well as music executives. It was just that nobody wanted to or knew how to promote them. They got audiences just as excited with their live performances in the 60s as they did as Labelle in the 70s.
Omg i was at this concert my first ever it was sold out when i got there but there was 2 cancellations i got a 3rd row seat it was fantastic and after the show i waited at the back door to see them after waiting a half hour i decided to leave and walk around the back and all the sudden the came oit a side door i nearly collapsed i was gagging much i did manage to get their autographs and they climbed in a small.white toyota i was the only one to see them wow i remember like yesterday
I love Sarah's singing variation on "What can I do for you"! Her piercing soprano complimented the other ladies and band member's adlibs, perfectly! May she rest in peace. The song begins at 36:00
Happy New Year 🎉🥳💕❤️💜👑 Thanks for uploading this concert. I needed this energy!!! VIVA LABELLE 💜💕❤️👑🎉🥳 I once heard Patti say, "I can Sing Lady Marmalade 100 different ways!" This version is absolute proof of that. Once the folks handling the sound got her microphones 🎤🎙️ right! Patti handled her business and riffed and ran upsidedown, sideways, backwards and forwards, in and out and all over "Lady Marmalade!" I'm here for this set. Along with the amazing vocal sirens, Nona Hendyx and Sarah Dash, LABELLE Turned It Out!
@@stevelangely8004 this is the only live version of Phoenix that I know of. I was at that show this reminded me that I was disappointed that they did not stick to the exact arrangement that is on the album. To me the song is the most amazing song ever written by Nona Hendrix and should not have been messed with in a live performance. It was long and vocally challenging for sure so maybe that factored into the live performance.
@@drummerc1795Artists often expand the recorded arrangements live since they're not limited to radio restraints, but concertgoers don't always like their favorite songs reinterpreted.
@@stevelangely8004 yes and I agree with you. This was just the one song I would have liked to hear the way it was on wax. I saw them almost every time they were in nyc including when they were the Bluebelles and in both versions of the group I remember them sticking pretty much to the recorded versions of songs they performed. BTW, I was in a book store this afternoon not far from where I live in Manhattan and was surprised to see a book on the shelf titled “Why Labelle Matters”. I had no idea that a book was published about them. It’s a paperback and was very expensive considering. When I got home I was able to order it online for $12.00 less than they were getting in the store so I should have it soon.

Very very Nice!!!👍🌞☕️✌️🇧🇷
I can't wait for Labelle's excellence to be acknowledged
Whew! Phoenix!
Patti is on fire here. Sarah shooked me with her high range here
Stamina. Idk who screams more her or Tina Turner 😂
Love hearing the beginnings of songs that were eventually recorded. Killer show!!
I haven’t heard Freddie Crocker’s voice since I was a teenager in the 1960s on WLIB or WRLL.!

Yessss. This is October 1975
Sounds like the Phoenix album tour. Nona, the alto-singing songwriter, loved sci-fi so we get Afro-futuristic space funk.
Cosmic!!!!!!!
amazing!!!!!
Wish I could see this concert
THANK YOU FOR ALL OF THIS!!!!!!!!

@@drummerc1795 It was published March 2021. As a Labelle-head, I'm sure you'll eat and drink it as I did.
Even Aretha Franklin can not do this.
Was this before or after the Met?
Please tell me there’s a visual of this performance available.
This would be out of this world if there was a visual to accommodate this piece vocal slayage/excellence!
