Lightning strike itself is still a powerful skill at high investment, due to its well-roundedness in both clear and single target. Armor/Str/Accuracy stacker all use it. It's not a good league starter anymore unfortunately after the nightblade nerf.
Im planning to play Lightning Strike Berserker in the Blast from the Past event, using two-hand earthshatter until I get a decent claw can apply Brittle.
Hey, this is my first comment on your channel but I’d like to say that your « league starter build » are really interesting. Late in tota league, any argumented league starter build is welcomed. Cheers
3:40 I think what they did with the alternating animations absolutely killed the good feel of melee, the reason why ranged attacks still feel good is because theres not this awkward break beween the right side swing and the left side swing, every attack just has the exact same animation and attack time. Spells also dont have that and feel good. Only melee.
My love for the unnatural instinct in scion start makes me want to path this through scion over to ranger area. Well, I tend to skip all progression of a tree in my head and imagine what it could look like with unlimited investment. There's something to be said for being able to put out league start content. I've played several ssf runs of frost blades on the ranger, trickster and witch. It can be great or absolutely terrible. Pretty dependent on upgrading your claws as you go and needs several pieces to feel really good. Having both totems and bonechill on frost blink go a long way. Last couple plays on the witch I ran fortify, nightblade and trinity on my 4 link and it felt really good. Fortify on chest implicit later but for the campaign on melee it feels really good on the gem link if you're not playing champion. I'm always curious about lightning strike but I rely way too much on chill and freeze.
I agree freeze is massive. You still get decent chill on LS as you stack non damaging ailment effect and get cold damage from claw and blizzard crown eventually. I may have to look at FB again but maybe not on champ
Have you considered Lightning Trap Raider? I'm thinking of league starting it. I want to go zoom and have balance between clear and good single target dps. Also the divergent quality on lightning trap seems fun with the returning projectiles.
Hi, will you do for 3.24 some guide for lightning strike, i saw your pob on for ls in smite champion guide, but can you do claw version of league start as LS,
I will have a video out today on my planned lightning strike league start guide for 3.24 as think I am going to league start it, but building it a totally different way
So i tested your build, simulated league start, used splitting steel 2h axe varient destroyed the campaign, used no gear from my other characters, then decided at 88 to transfer into lightning strike claw and uhetols shield and a doryani, build feels great its not tanky as described and its nearly as expensive as my str stacker, i used a mirror and a half and need to spend another mirror to get the max fire res to 85 at which point you could call it tanky, its very fast and the damage is nuts, if you stand inside the boss and shot gun it with vaal strike it gibs any thing im going to take it to 95 and do some ubers.
Yeah I have just released some videos on a new way I am looking to start lightning strike. It will not scale as far but will get you to invitations cheaper to then switch to strength stacker later on
Like someone else said glacial hammer trauma with heatshiver is bonkers (make sure it is jugg tho), also CF champ (either kinetic blast or double cold iron points with spectral throw) or just bonezone slayer (i dont know other builds I am a melee andy who only olayed your rain of arrows build as a non melee first time build)
Which do you think is better in mapping as League Start? Champion Lightning Strike or Champion Lightning Arrow? Planning to start the next league with either LS or LA Champ. Thanks
Honestly neither are great. LA is way better on deadeye if you are playing softcore and LS champ feels very bad until you get a lot investment into the build I started rain of arrows champion last league and then switched to LS when I had currency to put into the build
I think Lightning Strike only feels good as accuracy stacking because of the insane attack speed. I didn`t play this after the LS Nerf but i saw some player this League are play it and i looks nice. Replica Last Resort Weapons are cheap as always and the rest is not as expensive.
Yeah I didn’t like it early on. Once the build gets going it’s ok but you really have to go deadeye to get the most out of it and you end up basically playing a worse version of a bow build. Especially since the introduction of manaforged support.
@@AgaliaX maybe I haven’t played the build in a while so there might be masteries that help too. It’s definitely a viable skill just one you probably need to take your time gearing up and progressing
@@FuzzyDuckzy the medium budget peaks about 2million damage(so not great), but the build is so freaking tanky and GH makes bosses so easy. It can easily get you endgame and get you farming bosses early in a league.
Yeah I maybe bailed too early I just absolutely hated it early on and wanted to do it mainly SSF which meant no heatshiver or Yoke and could not bring myself to grind to T16 maps without them. They are also pretty pricy on day 1/2 which puts me off a little bit. I do love the skill overall just wish it had a bit more punch. Having to drop two totems on every boss and use other skills to reduce cold resists is a bit too much for me which is more a melee problem than FB problem
@@FuzzyDuckzy I totally understand, did you happen to mule duelist? You finish mudflats with duelist and mule over ancestral call, maim support, and a couple others. It’s a HUGE difference early on. As far as the totems are an acquired taste, unfortunately all melee builds use them as you’ve said. To me it’s a worthwhile trade off for being able to use and feel the melee playstyle. Cheers either way brother. My PoB is currently sat at 141m dps. Basically min maxed. Most expensive item being awakened multistrike. I also do not use frost bomb unless I’m doing Ubers. It’s not necessary at all. You smoke anything that isn’t cold immune. For comparison, with similar investment (console) about 100d, my lightning strike build had 97m dps.
@@asapBreeZy nice. I am a duelist so didn’t need to mule 😀 but I do always beeline for +1 strike so I don’t have to run ancestral call. Dualist can comfortably get this in act 1/2. I did play a FB champ with MB, heatshiver etc this league and it was very nice as you freeze everything + you get all champions juicy defences
@@FuzzyDuckzy Oh my bad didnt know that. If you want to give Frostblades a chance maybe check out Zish he kinda is the goat when it comes to Frostblades. I was and still am a Cyclone enjoyer, which is kinda unplayable without 50 div + investment xD
There are lots of EK ignite builds floating around from this league. EK without investment is awful though so I would not consider league starting it, but as a second build it looks pretty good
Main problem is that half your damage comes from melee and you lose a link. With big investment into projectiles it would probably be ok. I am guessing you would need to drop point blank too. I have not tested but would think that on a low budget build it is less DPS. Might look at it if I revisit. I did not test out volatility which I think could be good to get bigger shocks and make sure you have no trinity issues
If you are mad enough to want to try it :) You go First to Strike Last to Fall then Head to Fortify then take the aura one (I forget the name) for your uber lab
I think it’s probably suboptimal on a budget setup since you lose a damage link and projectiles only accounts for half our damage. You also would have to drop point blank. I did look at it but could not find a way in which it added anything to the build. I also don’t think it’d worth it until you at least get the extra proj enchant
Yeah as it only affects the projectile portion so you lose quite a bit of damage. I think Nimis would work really well later on when you get a few projectiles into the build. Point blank is also a big damage boost for the build so you might also need to drop that to make return proj worth it
I will do some sort of totem build at some point. I am not a huge fan of ice spear early though it gets much better with a bit of budget. I am also pretty bad at avoiding deaths on slower builds so might not end well as I know the build can be super squishy :)

With frost blades you level with wrath, not hatred, with trinity and dual wield
