protip: university of hawai'i community college campuses give you the same lower div credits for a fraction of the cost as the uni (double check transfer credits tho)
plus it all shows up in your STAR and Laulima stuff
UH Hilo and West O'ahu are great for different types (big island is a different vibe and west has smaller class sizes, more catered to working students + uses the rail) but west has no dorms and is a pretty dead campus

Its so upsetting, I actually attempted to look into doing a few credits at Kapiolani but the CC tuition was MORE than my manoa WUE tuition per credit!! Im pinning this comment though, because everyones situation is different and everyone should look into it for sure!

A couple more things about the weather here. First, the weather on one part of the Island does not indicate what the weather is like in other parts of the Island. I used to live just outside of Waikiki. My wife's family lived in Mililani. We would make plans to go to the beach and they would call to ask if we should do something else because it was raining. I would look outside and it would be clear and sunny. If you have plans, check the weather where you are going - not where you are. Second, have you experienced rain while the sun is shining? I moved here from Pennsylvania just before I started high school (and came back after college in California). I'll never forget the first time I was out walking, it was bright and sunny, and it started raining. The rain was just a drizzle but it was so nice and cooling. At first I thought that someone had their sprinklers on but no, it was rain. It's a wonderful phenomenon.

It's interesting comparing your experience with mine. I attended UH Manoa from 2011-2014 and stayed in Hale Kuahine. In comparison to the points you brought up:
1.) I had a hard time figuring out how to join student campus activities, but it was always very clear when school started and ended. That was on the academic calendar.
2.) I never really got cold in Hawaii, but I moved there from a colder part of the country.
3.) The bathrooms were co-ed when I was there too, but they were always pristine the entire three years that I lived there.
4.) I really liked the food at the two lower campus cafeterias and ate there everyday until they banned trays. I got really annoyed about not being able to easily carry all the tiny plates they insisted that everyone use instead of trays, so I started buying food off campus instead.
5.) As far as I know, everyone in my building had double rooms with the furniture for two people, but there was only one person assigned to each room, so I never actually had a roommate. That made it really convenient when my friends and parents visited from the mainland since they had a place to stay.
6.) I used the bus to get to and from the airport, but I otherwise found it very inconvenient to use. I walked and biked to get around. The furthest extent was walking to Aina Haina and Bishop Museum, respectively, and biking to Kaneohe and Kailua. I also hiked over the mountains from Manoa Falls to Judd Trail and then took the roads back.
7.) I agree on the storage. I accumulated lots of books while I was there since I didn't sell my textbooks between semesters and I also like to read. An inconvenience was needing to pack all my stuff into storage closets on other floors between semesters whenever I left to visit my parents and then packing it back into my room when I came back. My dorm building didn't have elevators, so it was difficult moving all my books up and down the stairs at the end and start of each semester.
8.) Socially, I found it difficult to meet people on campus, but there was a board game group that would meet sometimes in that little building near Hale Manoa (I forget its name) and there are hiking trails that lead from Dole Street up to Waʻahila Ridge, which I learned about from people in my dorm. It was fun to go hiking up there, but don't do it after it rains because the red mud will *really* stick to your feet and make your feet heavier with each step!

Sorry about the cons of going to UH Manoa. I went there years ago, stayed in Hale Aloha dorms the first few years, ate at the dining hall, etc. I hope the situations get better for you. Glad that you chose to go to school here in Hawaii. Go Bows! 🌈🤙

NOT STRICT at least this year! Not once did I get a room check, I made the whole hall smell like dinner every night and nobody ever came and checked on me.
