Dude, they don't do head measurements, they just say it feels loose on the head! That's the proper way of reviewing!! In all seriousness, you are the first reviewer, who actually paid attention. Thanks!!!
Just got a pair of Philips X2 headphones with the V-Moda mic. I thought about getting the SHP9500, but I wanted a little more bass for listening to music. Really loving it so far. Much better than the HyperX Cloud II that I had previously.
I've had a pair of the Philips SHP9500 headphones for a few years but have resorted to different headsets or using a lavalier microphone whenever I needed a mic. I just started considering a V-Moda BoomPro to make things easier so this video was very useful. Seems like it would make perfect sense to get one. Thanks for making the video!
V-moda Boom pro is VERY sensitive and it leads to receive all loud sounds that comes from a headphones, like explosions, shots etc, usually it happens when high volume was chosen - open back headphones works bad with v-moda mic. Results in many echoes. It also picks up noises when the cables of the mic touches something, crazy. Had to set custom noise gate in OBS and other apps. little pop filter helps but not much.
Love this combo, but the mute-switch on my V-Moda BoomPro stopped working after 1 year of use 👎, which is too bad as I love having the mute switch / microphone kill-switch, and the mic quality is very good. Hopefully V-Moda can fix this in future products.
I’ve been using this combo for a few months, and it has been great until the audio started popping out with loud noises in games like explosions. Also happens whenever I try to adjust the volume wheel. Not sure if that’s a headphone issue or vmoda issue.
Used the v moda plus the QC 352 and it’s so perfect noise canceling is top tier ik Bose came out with their version of gaming headset but this is the best option not fully buying another pair of headphones just for the mic
Yeah I kind of realized that I put more focus on the mic rather than the headphones. My bad. But the headphones are great. They sound amazing for the price. Thanks for commenting.
I bought this combo to use it one lenovo legion y530. Headset is amazing, especially when plugged with the normal 3.5 mm jack, instead of Vmoda Boom Pro. My laptop only has one audio port, so when I plug my Vmoda on both ends, only the headphones works (slightly lower sound quality) and mic is nonexistent. If I use the Vmoda splitter which is then plugged in the USB sound card with ports for headphones and mic, the headphones work the same, but the mic produces an unbearable hissing sound. Trying to find the way to solve this. If you have an advice feel free to help.
Do you recommend this combination over the Game One? And how is the bass response on the SHP9500? I have read that the bass is really flat. Very nice review!
Great question. You are right this is not a bass heavy pair of headphones. I do find it to be suffice for me personally. And yes it’s a bit flat but not as bad and I have read online. I think the VModa mic is better than the game one by a little bit. But the noise canceling is better on the game one. You cannot go wrong with either. Also the game one has a flip to mute mic which is handy. Maybe I should make a video comparing. Thanks for watching!
I would say that the bass is a little bit lighter. But both are not great for heavy bass. They sounds great and the bass is punchy but does not hit hard. Game One has a bit more bass to me but I think that is because of how open the Philips is. Very natural sounding though. Love them.
How are these for gaming compared to the Game Ones? I have Game Zeros and I have been very underwhelmed. I was looking at the SHP9500s and Sennheiser 6XXs. Would like to go the cheaper route with the SHPs but need top quality positional sound. What are your thoughts? BTW great review.
The sound that comes from the SHP9500 doesn't leak into the microphone? The original BoomPro é omnidirectional, and I'm worried that it can capture too much from the sound that comes out of the headphone.
Just ordered these but while I wait for them I can't help but wonder how these compare to the drop Game One variant you have. Would you say it's definitely worth dropping a few bones for the Sennheiser or is it good enough or even better?
Is there any sort of closed-back “equivalent to these headphones that you recommend. I don’t think people are trying to hear my music or games all the time.
I have this exact combo but unfortunately the mic sounds like trash for some reason :( I've been looking for a fix but so far pretty much nothing has helped
For just gaming would you choose the Sennheiser PC37X or the Philips shp9500+v-moda mic? I am stuck between these two? I have asked some audiophile subs and they chest hear headset and instantly crap on it regardless of sound, seem a little unfair. Which one is actually better for gaming thought?
I was out looking at the modmic 5.0 for hooking up to my vr headset and was watching Badseed Tech's review video over the mod mics and when I heard this mic, I legit though it was a full blown desktop mic until I seen the label in the video and also seen the exact pair of headphones I have on my head as of typing this and was like, "Okay I gotta see more of this.." and only typed in "v moda mic pro" and this was one of the first vids that popped up. Only question I have now is, is there any long cord extensions available for this cable and still keep the audio quality? If so I'm buying this and the cable.
I have a question about this combo. Wouldn't the mic pickup the noise that leaks from the headphones since it's open back. I just came here from a reddit post about a guy who says that his friends in game can hear the sounds because of the open back architecture style.
I am having that same issue. Everyone always complains that they can hear everything that’s goin on around me including the gameplay. I would love to know if there’s a way to fix this problem via settings or something because otherwise I love this setup
nvm, I figured it out. If anybody ever runs across the issue where your v moda boom pro sounds horrible. Read this. You goto your control panel and goto the sound option. Next select recording and double click your microphone. Then goto enhancements and disable all sound effects. After I did this my mic became extremely clear :D
Hello, there is some difference in the sound between the new version and the old one, it is a black box since both boxes say that it has different frequencies thanks
What if you can not detach cord for an existing gaming headset. I can take the mic I already have in and out but I wanted to know if I can just plug the BoomPro in the 3.5mm port where my mic would normally be.
While actually using them for streaming/playing with friends, did you have any problem with sound leak at around 75-100% volume? I know there will inevitably be some sound leak, but is it loud enough that it gets picked up by the microphone?
Great video! I am having issues with the Mic not being able to pick up reasonable volumes, only VERY loud noises, or if I crank the boost up to +30Db (which then gives feedback in the left can). Any assistance? I downloaded all new drivers for my MoBo, being sure my RealTek audio drivers are new/up to date.
Ryan Maybe an amp could help. SybaSonic is an affordable amp at around $30 (last time I checked), and that might fix your issue. Though I’m very late to this, so I’m pretty sure you got your issues solved by now.
This is an issue I'm having with my Boompro. I have to boost the mic volume because it sounds like im whispering when trying to talk to others other game.
That was a very good combo. The sennheiser game one have a decent mic but not the best will the sennhesier gsp 370 have a terrible mic even for its price and the philips with the v-moda pro can almost mimic the sound of you using a good microphone so that was phenomenal for its price. I will gladly buy that combo.
Has anyone tried powering this combo throught a Series-X Controller? I see comments on amazon about certain mics like the Modmic having issues with power using this route.
I'm looking for a gaming headset. From what I've seen, I have two options in a 130 budget: Logitech g Pro X headset or ATH-M40X + vmoda mic. Could someone help me decide? (I don't have the Philips in my country)

@@StephenHD thanks mate really appreciate it just bought me one and cant wait to test 'em, also bam man got your self a subscriber in me for that awesome replaying in a timely fashion take care and keep up the good work
Glad you mentioned the sound leak, is it very noticable? Is the audio adjust for the headphones? And if you talk loud in a enclosed environment with no acoustic panels should I just get an usb microphone?
Sound leak isn’t that noticeable. If someone is sitting right next to you, they’ll faintly hear the audio from the headphones. The audio adjust is for the headphones.
A little late, but for anyone having the same problem, you need to switch the mic to "on" on the controller. Setting it to "off" just makes it very quiet
i got this combo recently and they sound amazing but only if its connected to my phone , if its connected to my laptop the headphone sound bad donno why .
one concern i have with these is if the headband and earpads can be washed since they're made out of cloth that could eventually become a bacteria magnet from sweat and odor.
I have this setup, and the mic picks up very little sound from the headphones (around -50 dB in OBS); it is very faint. you would have to turn your volume very high to hear it, so it's not an issue
You sold me on this. Really glad I came across this before buying a gaming headset. Thanks man!
Thanks for watching and dropping a comment! It’s a pretty nice combo.
Damn, that V-Moda mic blows the other two Sennheisers away.
Dang that mic is insanely good for a headset mic. Nice review!
