Note from a guy that want him: Comparing it to Zeta is nice thing, since some of the japanese reviewers usually call him Zeta's success in SEED Style, and mentioning him in the video is just a respect!
Funny enough when the CGI is more finalize than the somewhat goofy lineart itself, plus now im more curious what if both Rising Freedom and Immortal Justice were design more closely to Murasame development that it's originally intended instead of what we have today.
Okawara with the goofy lineart, never fails to weird us out despite what some nostalgia nuts might tell me. But yeah, it'd have been nice for the Rising Freedom and Immortal Justice to stick closer to this lineage, knowing how well the transformation of this kit is. Maybe we'd get a better transformation for those two instead of the ones we got now.
Man I wish they would remake the original Murasame the same way. Maybe even release HGCE Ootsugikata (Blue Murasame with a railgun instead of wings) for the first time.
@@mj2005gundam Nah I think they'll make original Murasame as a retail kit and Ootsukigata as PB exclusive because it's a MSV suit. Not to mention it's SEED we're talking about and not the kind of show that is popular with the audience but not enough for Bandai to make it for mass market retail (ignoring the unfortunate fact that they're making Shuffle Alliance members as PB exclusives)
glad to see the universal backpack slot present. Used to imagine after Gundam SEED Destiny ended would have Shinn getting his own Murasame with a Destiny Backpack.
I built the HGUC Zeta Plus A1 a few weeks before building this. Crazy how they're the same price when the Murasame Kai is so much better. I do recall people considered the HGUC Zeta Plus mid even back on release in 2014, especially since 2400 yen was actually really expensive for HG at the time and the plastic content/engineering didn't justify it. Funnily enough, the original release of the HGUC Zeta Plus also had a manufacturer error - in that case, the crotch armor had less detail than intended, both on the box art and on the part itself. They truly are equivalents lol.
I've never built the HG Zeta Plus, mostly because it didn't appeal to me at all. But I can understand how it might have been knowing how ridiculously tedious the partsformations were back then. Well, glad you did enjoy your Murasame Kai
@mj2005gundam Thanks! The transformation wasn't particularly tedious, but the end result compromised the leg design and the MS mode just wasn't very good in terms of articulation or colors despite being a partsformer (and expensive). I got it knowing it would be mid, but I wanted some representation of the zeta plus in my collection and thought the proportions looked slightly better than the MG.
This kit is a great homage to the Zeta Plus, and being an absolute fan of the Zeta Plus and its variants, I am in love with this kit. I might buy a few more so one can be painted in a custom color scheme, while the others will join my current one.
Simplicity really worked in the Murasame Kai’s favor here. I think that’s why I’m drawn to this unit more than everything else in the SEED FREEDOM line. No shade against them, they all cool (sorry Agnes, your unit doesn’t get shit), but nothing touches this thing in the coolness factor. It’s just so… simple, and that’s what really makes its charm. If I can, I am deffo getting one. Or two. Or five. Or 10. Or- Ahem. Anyway, splendid job as always MJ. Hope you have a good one.
I guess this is equivalent to appreciating the little things in life after a string of big achievements and events. And I'm glad for it too, as I think the early SEED Freedom kits all suffered from overly intricate designs. So it's nice to have something this simple for a change
I bought 2 of these. 1 for the mobile suit and 1 for the mobile armor. It's kinda sad the HG line transformable kits mostly are parts-former (aside from other kits from UC Zeta and ZZ Zeon which some are fully transformable).
Being fully transformable is one of those things that sounds great on paper, but with Zeta-type transformations, the kit’s structural integrity suffers because of it, especially at 1/144 scale.
I value stability over functionality. However, I'm really glad that they manage to make this parts-formation so simple that it doesn't feel tedious to do
Damn a grunt suit from Seed Freedom got a strongly recommended.........WOOOOO! And why am I not surprised that Mu piloted something that transformed into a plane because man that flight mode is clean as hell! And the robot mode, while simple is also amazing despite having the simple gundam loadout and there is no downsides apart from my small nitpick of it need a wide spread open hand for posing. But other then that, great that the grunt suit gets a S recommended and another soild review!
I mean, this is a kit that I enjoyed thoroughly and had fun with. It's ironic since the others have way more stuff than it, so I'd have gone for them 10 years ago instead of this. But it's precisely because it's simple that I enjoyed it this much. That's why I'd strongly recommend it
No. It feels flimsy because there's a massive gap in it when empty. Fill it in by attaching the arms first and it'll be fine. On the other hand, you do need to be careful when taking the legs off, as it'd be easy to tug at them without thinking too much and stress the frame.
This is a must buy for me but the only thing I think was a weird choice was the size of that V fin. I'll have to trim it or something but I'll probably just keep it in flight mode because just look at that thing.
Boli-Sam is on the way with my RG Akatsuki, so expect to see those close to each other. An HG Shining on the other hand, I'm seeing local stock, so I might pick one up at some point for a re-review. Once I get the 2024 stuff out of the way and my backlog down to a more manageable size
Same argument I'd have about the Zeta, I wish the moving parts are present. However I understand the compromise is for simplicity and compatibility sake
This gives me the if the strike is a transformable frame vibe also I wonder if they remake the aegis using the seed action system if so how would they do it because of it ridiculously complex transformation lastly I never thought about giving others back pack to this machine thanks for that
It's not complex if the old HG can pull it off without much trouble. I'm just concerned that they'd devolve the Aegis if they make a revive based on the Action System
Rather disappointed i was dumped on backorder with this kit as it looks neat Funnily enough it was all the lesser MS from the film i never got fulfilled Got both Freedom and Justice variants plus the three Black Knights while the Destroy i was surprised to find locally (Also got the Bolinoak if talking 2024 releases in general) Unless the Gelgoog Menace, Gyan Strom, Blitz Deul, Lightning Buster and Murasame Kai come back in stock, i may resort to Amazon and eBay scalpers
SEED Destiny and Freedom has super boring grunt Suits. But man these Missile Packs are looking sexy! And the kit itself looks really good. Is it possible to place the Missiles under the Union Flag wings with some modifications? Thank you for the review MJ! 👍
I think they look fine. They're boring compared to the main character units because the latter are designed to be OTT on purpose. And since I don't own the Union Flag, I can't tell you if the missiles will work on it. But if I remember correctly from Graham's unit which I do have, the wings will need a hole drilled into it to attach the missiles anyway
Note from a guy that want him: Comparing it to Zeta is nice thing, since some of the japanese reviewers usually call him Zeta's success in SEED Style, and mentioning him in the video is just a respect!
But if you look at it from a more cynical POV, it's just them copying the UC again
@@mj2005gundam True. But somehos SEED make them look way cooler than UC used to do before:
Example: the Titans MS variations and some late UC Grunts
I really love this non-gundam Gundam, and the Mobile Armor mode looks amazing too

I love this kit and I gave mine Ace combat decals to make it Triggers personal machine.
I'm glad you loved it as much as I do
Love me some grunts. This is one of the kits I’m looking forward to the most this year. Glad to know it’s just as awesome as I thought it would be.
Glad you think so too. Hopefully you get yours soon and enjoy it as I had

It's definitely worth having a small platoon if that's your thing.

does the pegs for connecting the legs on the air frame a bit flimsy or feels fraggile to you?

On the other hand, you do need to be careful when taking the legs off, as it'd be easy to tug at them without thinking too much and stress the frame.
The head gives me Astray vibes with those "turbines" or engine cowlings, tho I have only build RG Astray Red Frame and Gold Frame.
The Murasame was developed from the M1 Astray.
@@TsundereSupreme That explains the design.
Yeah, what the replies said. It's rooted in the M1 Astray, hence the resemblances
7:04 I'm guessing that's based on something seen in the film?
the scene where Mu picks up Murrue from archangel
Yep. Basically the one notable thing it did in Mu's hands

Is there a mass production type for this kind of murasame?
This already IS a mass production machine.
@@xyrilcastejon4960 it is no ace machine, the Murasame is a true Mass Production Grunt.

A not-Gundam that looks like a Gundam. It won't matter how much it screams
I plan to get this one. I still have the old murrasame
Hopefully you manage to get one soon, as it's a blast

Either move it around a bit or sand down the connecting joints very slightly.
Next up is HGCE Destiny Gundam spec II and Zeus Silhouette pls
I'm sorry, but that will have to wait until at least January because I had to order local stock after being put on backorder
No problem I can wait
Can you review the hg D gundam first
I'm not interested in it at the moment, but still plenty of time to decide before I need to snipe one from Buyee
It can have some more colour on the front skirt.
I do like it as it is, but maybe some light gray would help accent the skirts a bit
I'll sacrifice my first born for MG version of this kit

Yeah, the SEED hype train is real, so real that even early birds may get dumped on HLJ backorder
So they can make a good HG with astray looks but can release a new seed system based astrays.
They find no need to in relation to SEED Freedom
To be honest, I much prefer the old Murasame's MA transformation than this one, but I do like the Murasame Kai's looks.
They are quite similar yeah, but to each their own. Personally, the swept forward wings don't do it as much as the Kai anymore
The movie and the kit made me like the murasame design cuz the anime and the old line art made the murasame look really flat
The lineart makes it look really off, thanks to Okawara. Thankfully, the kit isn't like that, hence why I love it
