This would be an interesting idea. A more hostile and creepy version of Stardew Valley but extended out to be just as long. I would actually be very genuinely interested in something like that
there are some mods like that but you might have to change configs like 80% for bosses to spawn and allow monsters to spawn everywhere, horror reskin, and dangerous monsters (monster damage and health are multiplied)
Have you heard of Lakeview Valley? It's the spiritual successor of Lakeview Cabin Collection and it's basically a farming + murder simulator with the same open world gameplay as Stardew.
I think the other benefit to opening the other doors is that it gives you places to farm in different points and prevents the deer from always wandering to a single farm.
@@beaniebaby7725 Honestly it's really tough to get the older folks in appalachia to talk about it because it's one of those "using it's name summons it" oogie-boogies, but one storyteller I heard saidthe name "haint" came from the fact that "it haint alive, but it haint quite dead." which I absolutely LOVE, because that tracks with how the old folks talk and how they name things. I've also hear that the name comes from an alternate spelling of the word "haunt" which.. Just as likely, but so much less fun. They like trying to get into your house, but mainly hang out in the woods. Defenses against them include shutting all doors and windows after dark, drawing curtains, and painting doors and windowsills blue. The blue is to trick the haint that it's approaching water, and they can't cross water. (That bit gives off the same vibes of that Chinese hopping vampire, there they just make their doorjams a couple of inches tall so it can't hop over it) I'm not really an expert in the folklore, jsut someone who was raised in rural appalachia, so my knowledge is honestly spotty.
Appalachian folklore is so funny and so scary at the same time. It's always named the most generic, straightforward shit but the tales they tell about them are so bone chilling. The Lights is another spooky one.
That's legitimately part of why I love the not-deer so much. I mean, it's probably literally the same as a skinwalker if we're being honest. I've seen plenty of instances of skinwalkers being represented by deer imagery. (Hence why I brought up Appalachian folklore on this video at all, I saw that deer and immediately thought "it's a not-deer! My people! I feel seen!" I also figured, since the game has not-deer that the running creature that you have to hide from in the house is a haint.) Then the people of Appalachia encountered these things and didn't bother to study it as close and just sort of made up their minds that "whatever the hell that thing that looks mostly like a deer is, it's definitely not a deer. Stay away from it." But in retrospect after looking through the comments the not-deer in the game was probably intended to be a skinwalker, and the sprinting creature likely either a wendigo or the rake. So the part of me that got all happy at a horror game showing Appalachian folklore cryptids had sort of evaporated.
Challenge: Play this game again, but you have to unlock every key, seed, upgrade, every fish decoration, and all clothing items before you can purchase any wheels.
I saw this on stream and Insym trying to "pet" the deer nearly made me choke on my soda. That was so damn hilarious. I really think this game could be easily padded out into a longer experience. You could have a complete shipwreck which requires increasingly more costly parts to fully rebuild (planks first, then gears, etc). The first few days could be safe, then add only the crawling monster for a few days, then add in the clown, then add in the deer, then maybe add into a couple more monsters/stages that make the nights increasingly harder as you try to rebuild the ship and escape. I think this could easily get pushed into an enjoyable 3-4 hr experience.
Imo it lasts as long as it should to not lose the scare factor, by the time you learn all the monster's guimmicks and solutions you take almost no time to win and leave, so you keep a fluid thrilling experience, something easy that might add to the experience is an extra difficulty where it is perma night, it's the same but just that might add a lot of paranoia
18:2732:23 I never thought I'd be so scared of a deer.💀 If in real life a deer appeared out of nowhere in front of me, and it was still night, I would freak out and run like crazy.
Graveyard keeper is a neat horror themed stardew valley game. I say themed because it's not scary, it's just morbid. However it's a fantastic game, I think better and longer than stardew valley.
Is not longer than stardew, I finished GK in almost a full weekend of playing lol Stardew Ive been playing for years and still find stuff to do, you just have to be creative. But GK is definitely a really good game!
No sequel planning yet from my understanding, the dev stated he’s still planning on expanding on this game for a while longer first. 😊 if you have more info please share!!
No. No what. Just "The hell is that noize." Also noticed that there's a stinger that plays when the creature leaves. It's unnerving, but that's actually a safe sound!
Beautiful art style and the gameplay looks really fun! The deer transforming and attacking was so shocking when I was watching the VOD you posted a few days ago. Could the deer be locked out of the planting area by closing the gates?
Around a month ago once I saw the horror creature in the game Pumpkin Panic, I said Oooh Insym has to play this! I'm glad you had fun!! Also, nice deer thumbnail!
I really enjoyed watching this game!!! Every time you think you've seen every creepy thing and got into a loop, something new seemed to appear/happen. Really well done, especially for a free game!
Omg, I'm so glad you mentioned how the graphics looked similar to Don't Starve. It's a franchise that I sincerely enjoy and it's so nice seeing 2D elements in 3D
Love how my and Insym's observations were the complete opposites of each other. I immediately noticed the cue for when the violin monster thingy went away. It was that eerie, short string of music that intensified quickly before going away. It's pretty common in certain horror games or videos. But then Insym noticed the 3 candles in the house going out, causing the shadow monster to crawl out from under the bed. I completely missed that. Haha.
everyone was saying this games like stardew valley but im so happy that theres also people that get dont starve vibes from that game bc i loved watching people play it as a kid! love the vid btw whenever i wanna watch someone play a scary game ik ull make a video on it
I had to play this one myself, it's great. Would love to see more of it. My main issue was with the deer. I had a couple runs where I ran in the house to hide from the violin monster then the deer sat in front of my door until the candles burned out. That was lame. I really liked how every upgrade felt useful especially getting move speed by night 1 to find the clowns easier and lantern upgrades by night 2 to see the deer better. Getting just enough water capacity and fill speed to minimize downtime was very satisfying. I did end up ignoring most of the plots and went all-in on cucumbers, I could see how they'd be useful to avoid the deer but they're not necessary with fish and pick-ups plus plants grow so fast you don't really have the time (or water) to manage multiple plots. Everything felt pretty well balanced, a little on the easy side once you figure it out which is nice with how punishing deaths are. Great game! 👍
Hey there. I just wanted to say thank you for doing what you do. I lost my dad in November and my mom passed last Friday. It’s been pretty rough for me and watching your videos is the only thing that can take my mind off being sad. So thank you for all the entertaining uploads, for just being yourself in them and for the laughter during the hard times.
OG Harvest Moon is now called Story of Seasons. New Harvest Moon is developed by Natsume, the original publisher. The games aren't as good imo, but they're still cute.
Yeah, there's a SCP called "Not Deer" that's a little similar to the deer of this game. It is the only SCP that ever managed to make me genuinely scared

Hey, I'm the developer! Thank you so much for playing, the video was so cool!
I'm happy you liked the game so much :)
Amazing game, sir!
Yeah great game
Cool 👍
It's a beautiful game and looks like a ton of fun to play -- very well done!
Bro, this game is so much fun. We need moar! >:D
The first hostile encounter with that violin horror stinger was so unnerving.
fr tho
Its also got the kitchen nightmares sound effect too thats fucking amazingly hilarious and terrifying😭
What!?

ghost town is a creepy mod... it makes all villagers ghost while hiding the corpse of villagers around the map (in configs)
Did you check out Graveyard Keeper already ? It's not totally the Stardew setting but similar
Seconding the rec for Graveyard Keeper. Such a fun game!!

Straight out of kitchen nightmares

Is the freaking kitchen nightmare sound effect but more deep 💀
The Hell’s Kitchen sound effect was made using a thing known as a waterphone look it up it’s really cool!

Alot of classic violin "njeeeeEEE" string dragging sounds. Used right it brings fright! 😁
