All you can do in a white out is try to maintain contact with the snow, and take it slow. Nice work guiding your sister and Pappa Joe down safe. Teamwork for the win!!!
Drive from Revelstoke to Golden is one of the most dangerous drives in Canada. Rogers pass is notorious for fatalities. You are right to recommend avoiding it at night. North Bowl is super awesome. Gotta be careful in there also. I needed a rope rescue from ski patrol after I got caught above a massive unmarked cliff. Great videos. Keep 'em coming!
Another great video! Good thing your sister loves you. Or hopefully she still does…😂 Felt like I needed to put my storm lenses on just to watch this one. Be safe out there my friend!⛷️
I agree, Lucas, hwy 1 is so much more gnarly than anything I've experienced in the states regardless of conditions. Rogers pass from Revy to Golden and frankly the whole stretch from Kamloops to Banff no blinking two hands on the wheel sweaty palms lol. The trucker just send it and somehow there is always weather...BC please repaint the lines so they reflect!
A crazy rad video, a day of fine snow with family. Tired Dr. Pappa Joe spending too much time in the operating room. At least the drive from Revy to Golden wasn't snowing! Looking forward to more quality vids.
White knuckle driving in the rig at night! I feel ya. Have you thought of adding a light bar or some pod lights? Helps a lot when I’m driving those twisty dark mountain roads. Awesome to see you enjoying the stoke with the fam.
I look at the hike in, traverse out as a plus. That alone will prevent 75% of skiers from tracking it up. My home mountain had lots of stuff like that and you could hike in well after everything else had been tracked out and get fresh turns. Just my take, everyone likes different stuff.
I agree I did those drives a month ago. Super stressful. So hard to see the lines on the road when the trucks are coming at you with their lights on. Just hold the steering wheel tight when they pass and hope for the best many times.
very cool.. looks like you were in your element with the stoke elk in powder.. i was in my element today.. after finally being off of antibiotic for the past 14 days, i was on my stockli and skiing hardpack.. it was great.. it is a holiday weekend and there were tons of people and the snow was fast and i launched about 200 yards off of a headwall and crashed on my first run.. but it felt great to be on skis again;) that and traffic sucked...
crazy white out condition! I loved you documented all that interaction. It could be pretty disorienting with zero visibility. I'm getting a walkie talkie thing if i go there again. Yes, the trucks behind you are very scray between Golden and Revy.
Nice for you to ski w fam at Revy, too bad the vis was non-existent, however snow conditions looked great. Have a great day at the Horse and ask about the Grizzly bear that is sleeping there, that is one fence line you don't want to cross in the spring time. Peace Out
Hey man! Have you ever thought about checking out Whitewater in Nelson BC? Would not be a regretted trip. Red Mountain in Rossland BC is great too! Cheers, keep up the great work!
Your sis should have felt right at home in those whiteout conditions. Every time I have been to Jackson it's like that at the top of the tram and you can't see squat. Looks great, you have had a legendary season so far. How many days on the mountain so far?
@@LucasCatania17 looked like it! When I was at vail years ago we got to the top of the lift and when we got off we couldn't see a thing or where to go 😂 it's a mind game for sure.
Lucas, you said something to the effect Revelstoke requires hiking to access great terrain. The same can be said about Altaaaaahhh. I've skied Alta over 200 days, lake Louise over 2 dozen. But never Revelstoke. I want to do the stoke, but my love for High Apron keeps me coming back to Alta. How does hiking the stoke compare to Alta?
I’m not a huge fan of Alta nor do I have a lot of time there but there’s definitely more traversing at Alta I feel like. I’m sure the “hiking” at revelstoke would feel nominal compared to Alta.
Personally I was disappointed with Revelstoke. Went there on a powder day and even though we arrived about an hour before the lifts opened, it still took a good hour and a half in the gondola line before we finally got to the top. Then we discovered every run was already skied out! They tout their huge vertical drop but what they don't tell you is that Revelstoke is a narrow ski area east to west and gets skied out very quickly. On the positive side, snow quality is excellent and the terrain is awesome. If you ski there on a less crowded day it should be a great time.
I can definitely see that. Even with the fresh snow, I never got any fresh tracks. It’s a great mountain but everything funnels through that stoke chair
Wow- skiing blind! Couldn't see the terrain, that would terrify me! Your family is so cool and athletic- do you have a nerdy, bookish sibling that is the total opposite and loves like liquid water - scuba diving perhaps?
love your videos I'm just curious how come u call papa joe but his name and not just dad is there a reason I'm genuinely curious and i hope I'm not asking something too personal
I think it just means that there isn’t much in the way of amenities, lodging, restaurants etc. it’s just meant for people who really love skiing/riding

a solid day on a legit mountain with my dad and sister! stoked at revelstoke!
On the "Stoke chairlift" ! ✨✨
So cool that you get to have these ski adventures with some family members. Enjoy!!
Thank you!
Louis - Taos Ski Valley has a 73 inch base now and the Kachina chairlift is open - 12,481 feet - steeps, chutes and trees. Blue skies and great views.

for sure. that whole area is gnarly from the skiing to the drives!

Thanks for taking the time to watch dude!
The Quality, The Skiing, Editing and the Video as always top tier Lucas I can't imagine how difficult it is on long trips solo! awesome vid

The stoke fam owning the mountain with the armada seasoning
doing our best man

All the long term subs 10 seconds into the video.... "PAPA JOE!!!!!!!"
Hahah yea exactly
Another episode of family stoke from Revelstoke!
Yeww thanks brother
Awesome Video! I’m visiting snowbird this spring the first week of April. Any suggestions on what areas to ski this late in the season?
They seem to be having a great season so everything should be skiable. Try to get over to Solitude and hit Honeycomb Canyon if you haven't been.
Yea everything should be open then unless we have an unusually warm and dry March.
106's are the perfect one ski quiver for Revy and B.C.
10:58 the family dynamic 😆
hahaha good representation of it
Some real deal terrain in whiteout condition! 🤟🏻😅😂
Yup added an extra challenge haha

haha! It is so true!! Whiteout here a lot! Rev was dope.
Yeah I’m sure nat was all good up there! And I’m not exactly sure. I have probably about 75 days so far not exactly sure
@@LucasCatania17 I get that may days, too. In a decade. Keep it up. If I run into you at Breck first round is on me.

"Skiing into a WHITEOUT at Revelstoke..."
We usually just call that, "Skiing at Revelstoke."

That was some solid navigating. I have noticed cameras can actually see a tad better than people in whiteouts
I agree. I was able to pull out more visibility on the camera than what my eyes saw

So you were on Powder Assault, not Mania. And I'm glad you didn't try to traverse left to get out. It gets nasty over there.
