    I guess you want to get it running so you can get it out of the field and into the shop easier. Working in the weeds is never easy! Onward in 2024.

      You hit the nail on the head. It's an extra hour of travel each way. Then having to load and unload tools. If you forget something then it's a 45 minute round trip into town... Mobil repair isn't easy.

      No point in trying to start it if it can't get clean fuel.

    Anybody working on these waterpumps, make sure the pulley is free to adjust, it's a lot easier when it's on the bench!

      Yes, field work takes so much more time and effort. Working on a bench with your tools at hand is much better.

    So you don't have to clean the whole fuel system just to try and start it in the field ,you use the little portable tank and rig it to the injection pump inlet line and crank away..

    • @jonelsonster
      @jonelsonster  8 месяцев назад

      That might have worked too. But on a John Deere the injection pump is buried down in the engine on the injectors. Really the only way to it is through the fuel filters, which is fed by the low pressure fuel transfer pump. Either way, I'm glad we got it started and it's getting clean fuel now.

    Those dont look like deere brand filters when i was first getting my 820 back up and running after sitting for 7 years from a bad water pump i had to get new filters and rather then try to match filters i called my local deere dealership and told them i need filters for a green dash 820 after double checking what style filters i had the told me that they had some on hand i said perfect set them out ill be there in 30 minutes after new filters we tugged it around for 15 minutes bleeding the lines and she finally started

      But now I have to pull the diesel tank and clean all the sludge out of it and im hoping to get that done b4 parade season this year because I love taking it to parades and I dig with it in the fall

    • @jonelsonster
      @jonelsonster  8 месяцев назад

      I'm not sure what brand these filters were pulled out of it were. But they were old. The new filters I put in are Baldwin brand. Not sure if they are as high quality as Deere brand, but I figure I'll run these for a few tanks of fuel and then change them out again because there is a little grime in my tank that will clog these Baldwin filters. Then I can splurge for the Deere filters if need be.

    There are fuel tanks that bolt on the larger air-cooled motors qt /half gal I ve built a bracket so it hangs up or stañds by itself a filter , valve and 4' of hose makes it easy for short run times for any motor.A short cord keeps the tank from wondering off the bodywork while it's running ..

    I think it's wonderful that you have your dad there with you to work on these projects. I mostly end up alone working on anything. Dad abandoned us when I was in my early teens and had to get along by myself, then after I married, my then wife helped me a lot at first, but quit after she got an in town job at a big bank. Turns out she liked her boss more than me and took off, leaving me and our son alone. He is now married and hs 2 sons but they are little yet, so rarely get any help from him anymore! 😕

      Glad you got her home. Now you can at least het her in out of the weather to work on it. A little heat and the broken off water pump bolt should come out. The scene where you hands were soaked in the fuel got mine cold too!!! done that too back in the 70's when i worked for a farmer.
