  • In this episode I talk about why I think the 2013 i20 is a car with a lot going for it, but also has some ironically staggered in house competition.

Everything you said about the car is absolutely true. Bought the 2012 Glide 1.4 in Nov 2022 and I have been enjoying it so far. Great review👌

on certain spec you can get Bluetooth to connect for calls. im not after a big car, huge fan small lightweight cars and being around 1.1 ton with tank fuel and not bad engine it goes good enough and seen 1.2 hit 190km, 119mph so in most places that plenty to get you a driving ban, even seen one with cruise control too so depends on spec you can basically get in the i20 what you get in the i30 and the new gen they all packed with equipment as long the new buyer ticked the boxes to add it

the 1.2 should be able to hit 190km/h 119mph, seen it on the autobahn just got give it a lot space and it get up there. these engine defo show up other engines same size and age perform above the weight as you say. ive never had issue getting up to speed but 2nd gear dose a lot work or climbing mountain passed steep grade change from 5th to 3rd at 60 limit bottom of the climb and it hold it speed very well it always much more powerful cars slow me down using the wrong gear . knock it in to 3rd for steep climb keep foot to floor it does well or engine size. and if you compare it to lets say a french engine 77bhp 90nm i20 and Citroen c3 1.4 that is 70bhp and only 70nm very weak engine for a bigger engine. but these days the small turbo engines they got much more torque. but the i20 1.2 non turbo it goes pretty well for its size and only 1.1 ton with a tank fuel its nippy too. happy with mine esp that rust what forms under rear wiper what should been a recall and let down when they did the face lift they did not to boot lift too just a few slight adjustments would fixed that issue. but as my car had 4 years and a bit not its been very reasonable cost to maintain, disks and pads that is £60 a corner, back box £120, tires £60 each, brake censor what turns esp, abs,tc off that censor was £80 but took two years to fully fail to get a error code so that how long it took to fix and car can be fun but also scary at times without esp,tc,abs. had the clutch fixed about month ago clutch kit and yearly safety government check and going over that was just under £500 for all so that not a bad price and it was original clutch so it did 100k miles so it did well and it was not the strongest when i got car and ive not been easy on it so id did well esp as seen cars advertised i20 80k saying new clutch. been so happy with mine as been pretty cheap to look after and very reliable but only reason i won't get the face lift is the boot rust issue but i am looking at getting the new shape i20 as really want one with 5 doors

one thing they did not fix, rear boot lid. water collects bottom of window or between window and lid tends to rust right side.

You're spot on the clutch, it's really poorly made.

i depends, mine did 100k miles on original one. other small engine cars can do less too. depends if last owner been riding the clutch like you see some old people way to much revs and very slow on releasing clutch. not crazy price either a yearly service and safety inspection and a new clutch with kit was only £500 all in so not crazy cost. ive seen far worse issues on other cars like fiat 500 / ford ka both the same car needing a new gear box, steering rack fail, rear strut rotting out. i20 dose well overall far worse and less reliable cars you can buy. on top that pars ive had to replace / maintenance parts been a very reasonable cost. yes car not without faults but cost car this car dose very well for it
